I think that it was originally a human soul before the Enemy transformed it into the monster it is now. I must find a way to communicate with it: it is my duty to bring back to the Lord every lost soul.

~ Father Ilardi's notes on the SCP's possible origins.
SCP-015-IT, also known as The Boogeyman, is a Euclid-class SCP held in containment by the SCP Foundation. The entity is held at "Site Vittoria" in Italy, where a branch of the SCP Foundation exists.
The true origins of the creature are unknown, though before being captured by the SCP Foundation, it was previously captured by another faction known as the "Brotherhood of Saint George's Knights" around 2011. During this time, a priest known as Father Ilardi was attempting to understand the nature of SCP-015-IT's behavior and possible origins.
The priest was making seemingly decent progress with the creature, and was even able to calm it and gain slight amounts of affection from it. When Father Ilardi spoke in a comforting tone, the creatures pained screams would stop. Ilardi theorized that the SCP was once a human, and was then transformed into this form by unknown means. Ilardi wanted to "bring the creature back to the Lord" by reverting the SCP to who it presumably once was.
Further interactions by the priest showed the SCP was "not completely evil" and "harbored no hatred or fear of holy objects". Over time, the creature grew friendly with Father Ilardi and his disciples, but showed fear to those wearing the uniform of the Holy Order. Progress with the Order was stopped when the SCP Foundation came in and took the creature.
Appearance
SCP-015-IT appears as a somewhat emaciated humanoid entity. At just under 2 meters tall, it is slightly taller than the average person. Its black skin is so dark that it absorbs 98% of light that touches it. The creature's face shows no ears or nostrils of any kind. Its eyes are able to emit light. The creature's mouth has eight sharp teeth in each jaw, and a very long forked tongue with the two-pointed ends being hollow needles that connect directly to its esophagus.
Powers and Abilities
SCP-015-IT's main form of sustenance is feeding on adrenaline and noradrenaline produced by mammals, though favors these chemicals from humans. The creature also has the power to cause hallucinations to those that view it for a long enough time, but these effects are weakened if the creature has not recently fed. It is possible that this is to weaken prey that would be too strong for SCP-015-IT to subdue, as though the creature has an emaciated form, it has possessed enough strength that can subdue a human adult with ease, and can quickly regenerate from any kind of physical damage.
SCP-015-IT's prefers to stalk its victims at night and conceal itself any way it can. The creature will almost always wait until its prey is distracted in some form before attacking. When attacking, the SCP will bite the victim's side to anchor its head into place, then use its forked tongue to both feed from the adrenal gland as well as pump in a sedating chemical.
Before being captured, SCP-015-IT wounded and killed many soldiers before being finally subdued.
Personality
The creature does not seem to speak or communicate in any way, either due to its selfish and animalistic nature or simply not caring to communicate with others. As mentioned before, before being captured by The Foundation, a priest was slowly able to gain the creature's trust, believing the SCP was once a normal human, but transformed by some sort of dark force or curse.
During its time under the custody of the aforementioned religious Order, it's been reported that the SCP is capable of reasoning and compassion, though getting the SCP to reach this state was a strenuous and time-consuming task. The exact processes and details of getting through to SCP-015-IT are hinted at, but not fully explained.
While a vicious and dangerous predator, SCP-015-IT generally does not kill its victims. It only used deadly force when attempting to escape the Foundation, and this level of violence was uncharacteristic enough that the Foundation was caught by surprise.
