SCP-280, also known as Eyes in the Dark, is a Keter-class SCP, mainly known for appearing as a black-human shaped creature.
SCP-280 appears to be totally black and human-shaped. He has giant white eyes, and his hands are quite long, as his fingers are very thin. It is unseeable if SCP-280 has any legs or feet at all, as his body appears to be totally faded away in several centimeters from the ground. It appears that SCP-280 is composed of substances, meaning that it can get and lose its shape. Once the SCP-280 starts charging to an incorporeal form, it appears like smoke is coming out from the subject.
The SCP's eyes are totally invisible, they only appear once the SCP-280 is retreating, even on some insects, SCP-280's eyes are used as eyespots. The SCP-280's movement appears to be in a gliding motion, with its hands totally extended, also the SCP-280 is quite strong, having the power of observing, pulling apart steel with its own hands. SCP-280 doesn't eat, breath or sleep at all. No samples found of SCP-280 have been collected.
Once the SCP-280 finds its victims, it would slowly get towards to the victim and quickly make its attempt at attacking it. His sense of attacking are quite human-like, and no limits were found of his abilities. SCP-280's first approach with the victim appears to be 14 centimeters of the victims, and use its long hands to bring and totally tear up the victim, creating a massive physical trauma to the victim. The attack lasts five minutes, and it ends once the victim is totally dead. Once the victim is dead, SCP-280's eyes would explode, lose its body form, and slowly just move to the victim. If the victim is not a human, SCP-280 would move and ball up against a wall or other structure until a human is created.
Slowly SCP-280 would retreat from the light, totally exploding its eyes to the direction of the light or nearby any humans. The people that saw its eyes, described this moment quite disconcerting, that there is a very bright burst of light. At the end of the attack, SCP-280 would simply fade away, and find its next victim.
- SCP-280 is supposedly based on a real-life photography of a shadow person. The picture often appeared on forums of ghost investigators, but no one still explained the origin of the picture.
