~ O5-6 about SCP-2950. |
SCP-2950 is a Keter-class (supposedly Safe) entity contained by the SCP Foundation. It is an entity which changes its form and abilities based on what the majority of people think it is.
Biography
SCP-2950 was discovered by the Foundation when an unidentified person wrote a book describing it as a malevolent world-ending being capable of ending the world. The Foundation initiated containment procedures to imprison this entity, unaware that they were creating it by doing so.
However, the Serpent's Hand were aware of the true nature of SCP-2950 through their access to the Wanderer's Library, and the group's leaders arranged a meeting with the O5 Council. Upon being informed of SCP-2950's true nature, the council destroyed all the books containing information about the entity. They then used amnestics to erase all memory of SCP-2950. O5-6, the only O5 not administered with amnestic, then changed SCP-2950's file to say that SCP-2950 was a metal folding chair that caused those who sat in it to become unusually comfortable. In order to ensure containment, he arranged for all the O5s and as many Foundation personnel as possible to read the file.
SCP-2950 is currently still trapped in its chair form, locked in a standard Safe-class item containment locker. All testing on it has been suspended by order of O5-6, ostensibly because it's unnecessary but actually in case information about its true nature is discovered. However, O5-6 continues to maintain his knowledge of SCP-2950 so that he can take the necessary measures if whoever told the Foundation that SCP-2950 was a XK-class monster resurfaces. A classified addendum in the SCP's file also contains information on its true nature so that the next O5-6, the only personnel with the correct memetic inoculation to view it, can be made aware of his mission.
