SCP-427-1, also known as "Flesh Beasts", are a hostile species within the SCP Foundation universe. They are classified as Keter due to their aggressive nature, rapid regenerative abilities, and the extreme difficulty involved in containing or neutralizing them. SCP-427-1 instances originate from human subjects who have undergone irreversible mutation after prolonged exposure to SCP-427.
Instances of SCP-427-1 created through overexposure to SCP-427 are considered extremely dangerous and must be terminated immediately upon identification. These entities exhibit highly aggressive behavior, demonstrate no signs of empathy or restraint, and are known to attack and kill any nearby humans. Due to their violent nature and complete loss of prior human identity, SCP-427-1 instances are regarded as hostile threats to both personnel and containment integrity.
Appearance[]
SCP-427-1, the result of prolonged exposure to SCP-427, appears as a grotesque, amorphous mass of living tissue, typically reddish-pink in color, with a surface that constantly pulses, twitches, or shifts, in early stages, the form may retain some distorted human features, such as partial limbs, facial structure, or vocalizations, as mutation progresses, the body loses all recognizable anatomy, replaced with tendrils, muscle masses, and regenerative growths, the creature often appears wet or glossy, with an unsettling organic sheen, and emits low, gurgling sounds even at rest.
In Video Games[]
SCP - Containment Breach[]
The player turning into an SCP-427-1 instance in SCP: Containment Breach.
In SCP: Containment Breach, if the player keeps the locket open for too long, specifically 7 minutes, they will transform into an instance of SCP-427-1, resulting in instant death. The time the locket remains open does not need to be continuous; opening and closing the locket will not reset the cumulative time needed for the transformation.
SCP - Containment Breach (Unity Remake)[]
SCP-427-1 was originally slated for inclusion in SCP: Containment Breach as part of planned post-release content, with development aiming for completion around the year 2021. The intention was to introduce SCP-427-1 as a formidable hostile entity that would appear if players mishandled SCP-427, thereby expanding gameplay mechanics related to the regenerative locket. However, due to the eventual cancellation of the project, these plans were never realized, and SCP-427-1 remains absent from the final version of the game.
Trivia[]
• SCP-427-1 does not appear in the official SCP Foundation wiki as a standalone entry, it is described entirely through the anomalous effects of SCP-427,
• The transformation into SCP-427-1 is a direct result of prolonged exposure to SCP-427, which itself was created by refining a pill of SCP-500 in SCP-914 on the “Fine” setting,
• Although SCP-427 is considered a healing object, SCP-427-1 represents a darker side of regeneration, turning the body into an uncontrollable, mutated form,
• SCP-427-1’s design and behavior are inspired by classic body horror fiction, including The Thing, Resident Evil, and Hellraiser,
• The entity was planned for inclusion as a hostile enemy in SCP: Containment Breach – Unity Remake, development of which was ultimately cancelled before SCP-427-1 could be implemented,
• In the original SCP: Containment Breach, players can transform into SCP-427-1 if they keep the locket open for 7 minutes, though the transformation results in instant death with no visual model for the mutated form,
• SCP-427-1 instances are assumed to completely lose all memory, personality, and higher cognition from their original human form,
• Some fan theories suggest SCP-427-1 retains rudimentary awareness or predatory intelligence, though this is not supported in the official article,
• SCP-427-1 is often compared to SCP-610, SCP-354, and SCP-682 due to its regenerative capabilities and hostile nature,
• Termination of SCP-427-1 instances would likely require fire, acid, or high-damage weaponry, as conventional methods would be ineffective against their constantly healing tissue,
• The designation “Flesh Beasts” is not used in official SCP documentation, but is a popular nickname in fan works, wikis, and SCP discussion forums,
• The mutation caused by SCP-427 is irreversible, and no known procedure can restore subjects once transformation has begun beyond a certain point,
• Some fans imagine SCP-427-1 as capable of spreading its mutation, though no contagion effect has ever been observed or mentioned in the SCP-427 file,
• SCP-427 is one of the few SCPs created through use of SCP-914, showing that beneficial anomalies can be dangerously altered when tampered with,
• In artwork and animations, SCP-427-1 is frequently depicted with pulsating flesh, distorted limbs, gaping mouths, and twitching tendrils, visual elements that align with descriptions of late-stage mutation,
• SCP-427-1 reflects an SCP theme of healing gone too far, suggesting that unnatural regeneration leads to biological chaos rather than health,
• Despite being an extension of a Safe-class SCP, SCP-427-1 itself is considered Keter-level due to its uncontrollable nature and lethal threat level,
• No instance of SCP-427-1 has ever been successfully interviewed or studied post-mutation, as all known subjects became immediately violent and non-communicative.
