~ Saarn to Agents Zieliński and Mazurek from Casefile #03/12/2021-A.
Saarn is an antagonist in the SCP Foundation mythos. She is one of the four Klavigar of Sarkicism, saints that lie only below Grand Karcist Ion, the earthly leader of the faith. She is usually associated with darkness, secrecy, deception, poison, assassination, and justice.
Saarn plays the role of a supporting antagonist in the "In Memoria, Adytum" canon.
Saarn was once a young house servant to a wealthy Daevite-family, and she experienced abuse throughout her life. Eventually this abuse led to her murdering the entire household with poison, garrote, and a dagger. For this crime she was imprisoned within the fortress city of Kurst (said city would also be the first to be later taken over by the Ion and his followers).
While awaiting execution, Grand Karcist Ion appeared in her prison-cell. He said: "The winds whispered of your actions. There is no evil in the Judgment. You did not choose to be the vessel of our will. Many will die this day but you are needed alive". Ion then transformed his hand into "a wolfish maw" and tore apart the cell door, liberating Saarn.
She became a devout follower of Ion, and trained a network of spies and assassins who would disembowel men and women on the streets and strangle infants their cradles. Her acts were described in graphic details by the Daevites. Saarn would also take under her wing Karcist Naman.
War with the Mekhanites[]
As Ion and his Klavigar began spreading their religion worldwide they faced from the Mekhanites, and soon a war started between the two factions. Saarn served as one of Sarkicism's most powerful warriors during the war, using her tactics to slaughter numerous Mekhanites. On one mission, she alongside a newly converted Sarkite, Yuliya, went to the city of Naxos to thwart ships of a Mekhanite armada. They planned to steal the Mekhanites' sea fire from their temple through underground tunnels, and despite caught in the act by a guard, Saarn was able to kill him and buy enough time for Yuliya to steal all of the fuel. Unbeknownst to Yuliya who sought to simply take away the Mekhanites' weaponry and avoid unnecessary bloodshed, Saarn had her men use the fire to burn all of the armada and kill their enemies.
However, Saarn was eventually defeated along with her fellow Sarkites after Ion was banished. Following the end of the war and the Late Bronze Age collapse, Saarn, Lovataar and Nadox waited for Ion's return but as years passed, Saarn left, having become somewhat disillusioned herself with the Grand Karcist.
Following the war, Saarn, as evidenced by the Commission of Unusual Cargo's Manifest 704, secretly provoked a war between the Roman Empire and the revived Daevite Empire. This war came to be known as the Second Occult War, during which the Daevites transformed themselves into animalistic monsters engraved with runes that absorbed magic, but despite this the Romans managed to crush the Daevites though they were left weakened.
Modern Times[]
Saarn was able to live to the modern age and began living in an apartment in Portsmouth, England which she would model it to her liking while she went under different names in order to not raise suspicion. On May 15th of 2020, Saarn was approached by a Neo-Sarkic cult known as the Fraternity of Skin which was unaware of her true nature, and persuaded her to join them, but she became disgusted by their heretical practices and outright rejected them. However, unbeknownst to her, through this interaction the SCP Foundation was able to discover her apartment, having designated it SCP-5480, and began secretly monitoring her.
Possible Endings[]
In Memoria, Adytum[]
As Sarkicism began rising once again, Saarn began helping several adherents of the faith in disposing of various heads of influential states and groups of interest. She assisted the Korean Sarkic cult known as the Children of the Black Blood in ambushing the Global Occult Coalition's leader D. C. al Fine, formerly a Karcist known as Diletta Clelia Fiore. They attacked her in Manhattan while she was being transported in her personal car and despite fending off the Children, Saarn was able to kill her.
Following the success of the last mission, Saarn was approached by a Mekhanic named Jackal who offered his assistance in assassinating the Broken Church's leader Robert Bumaro, since he believed that Bumaro had betrayed the Broken God. Jackal allowed the Sarkites to enter the Church's Citadel and attacked the Mekhanites. Near the end of the massacre, Saarn, her disciple Naman and Jackal confronted Bumaro and the other leaders of the Cogwork Orthodoxy and Maxwellism, and despite the latter's best efforts, Bumaro was incapacitated by Saarn which allowed Jackal to execute him.
Soon the entire world began destabilizing as a result of the Sarkites which eventually led to Karcist Lucien Dutoit, Karcist Halyna Ieva, Karcist Yongsun Ban and Naman to brake inside the site containing SCP-3911-1 and proceeded to use it as part of a summoning ritual. This ritual resulted in the manifestation of the four Klavigar before Ion himself manifested, having finally returned to Earth. Following the incident, the Sarkites began planning the next steps in their plan of taking down their enemies and taking over the world.
Casefile #03/12/2021-A ("The Liberal Vampire")[]
Following the events of SCP-6500 and the demolishment of the Veil of Secrecy, Saarn and her followers continued working in the shadows, and from December 3rd to 26th of 2021 began assassinating various far-right political figures who abused their power, which included Zbigniew Ziobro and Janusz Korwin-Mikke, by taking the form of close staff and completely exsanguinating their bodies. These murders were being investigated by Agents Zieliński and Mazurek of Zabójcy Magli "Witch Slayer" Division, which caused Saarn to make them her next targets. Right after killing Przemysław Czarnek within the Polish Parliament building, the two agents confronted her, causing the Klavigars to flee through a portal, with the agents after her. Saarn attempted to execute Zieliński and Mazurek, but the latter utilized their magic to escape, having figured out that the murderer was Klavigar Saarn.
Powers and Abilities[]
As a Klavigar, Saarn was granted by Ion great power over flesh. She could transform herself into a serpentine form, became biologically immortal and could shape her body to various extents. Saarn was an expert assassin, being capable of executing her enemies in silence, poison them without letting anyone know and always carrying her trademark sacrificial dagger.
Appearance[]
Saarn is often depicted as resembling either a young girl dressed in rags or a black human-serpent hybrid, although she is also seen being both. This was possible thanks to Saarn's power of shapeshifting.
Saarn usually appeared as a young girl with a forgettable face, light brown hair which she tied in a bun, faint freckles on the side of her neck, and wearing form-fitting black clothes. In SCP-4273, she was described as a small female figure.
Personality[]
Out of the four Klavigar she appears to be the most bloodthirstiest as she embodies judgment. She just like her fellow Klavigar was extremely loyal to Ion, shared a deep bond between all five of them and would do anything to execute every wish of Ion. Saarn also appeared to have a hatred against tyrants and showed no mercy to her enemies, making sure that they were all dead. After Ion was defeated during the war with the Mekhanites Saarn became disillusioned with him, soon believing that he was a liar who had promised to always be by their side. However, despite this she would still be loyal to him and find a way to bring him back.

Trivia[]
In Finnish, the word "saarna" can mean sermon, lecture, homily or harangue. The title of Klavigar appears to be similar to that of the Apostle.
Most members of the Japanese-Canadian Neo-Sarkic cult House Kurinuka founded by immigrants from Japan believed themselves to have descended from Saarn.
The image depicting Saarn in the "In Memoria, Adytum" hub, is a painting titled Suspicious IV by Iris van Dongen.
