Victor Creed, better known as Sabretooth, is one of the main antagonists in the Marvel Universe, specifically serving as one of the secondary antagonists in the X-Men franchise, one of the main antagonists of the Wolverine franchise, and the titular main protagonist of his own series.
He is a sadistic, bestial mutant who possesses various superhuman abilities, including a rapid healing factor, razor-sharp fangs and claws, and superhuman senses. He would use these abilities to become a mercenary and assassin, seeking both power and to satisfy his sadistic urges; thus, he has served under and with other villains such as Mystique and Mister Sinister, and at times he has appeared in a more anti-heroic light, including as a member of both the X-Men and Avengers. Throughout his history, he has shared a personal rivalry with Wolverine, being responsible for many tragic moments in the latter's life; representing what the hero would become if he gave into his feral instincts.
He is also one of Wolverine's archenemies, alongside Omega Red and Lady Deathstrike and an enemy of numerous other heroes, including Iron Fist, Spider-Man, the Hulk, and the X-Men.
Biography[]
He was born in the late 19th century, between 1868-1885. Victor was the second-oldest son of Zebediah Creed, a cold and abusive disciplinarian, and Victoria Creed, a submissive housewife driven by fear. The family resided in Canada, despite claims made by Victor during his tenure in the Team X operation in Cuba in 1963, shortly after the death of former American President, John Fitzgerald Kennedy. Creed claimed no historical ties to Canada then during a firefight held in a bar as he and his lifelong adversary, the Canadian adventurer, Wolverine, were attempting to flee. Creed had two brothers, Luther, the oldest sibling, and Saul, the youngest brother. Victor also had a younger sister, Clara. When Victor's mutant powers first manifested, he accidentally killed Luther over a piece of pie on Luther's birthday. The first murder committed by Victor would be disputed, however. Over a century later, Professor Charles Xavier, leader of the X-Men, discovered that Creed's first reported kill was at age nine when he murdered his pediatrician, Dr. Eiger Harnerst. The Creeds locked Victor in their root cellar, chaining him by the neck. Believing he was cursed, Victor's father tried to exorcise the evil by pulling out his canine teeth, which regrew due to Victor's healing factor. Victor's memories varied, sometimes recalling his father encouraging his animalistic tendencies. Under telepathic probing by Charles Xavier, Victor remembered his father tossing a live rabbit into the cellar for him to kill, teaching him that survival meant killing. On another occasion, his father forced him to admit he was a monster to get dinner. Zebediah exclaimed how relieved he was that his own father, Victor's paternal grandfather, was not alive to witness Victor's state. It was this unrepentant embarrassment and loathing that Zebediah would prohibit visitors entirely from entering the Creed household. He was just that ashamed of Victor being his son. Eventually, Mr. Creed decided to kill young Victor with an ax, dragging him to a woodpile. Victoria the matriarch, intervened, taking the axe blow meant for Victor, but she survived. Victor eventually escaped by gnawing off his own arm, and proceeded to kill his own father after Victoria tried to serve her cruel husband his own pie. Victor spared his mother, leaving her unconscious on the porch of their home. and Victor ate the pie meant for his father to eat, only to run away. Victor's younger siblings would display abilities of healing, and growing claws of their own. However, Victor would be the strongest and most sadistic out of the three.
At age thirteen, Victor reportedly rampaged across three Canadian provinces and killed at least three police officers. According to Creed, he remained in Canada and, at about fifteen, worked for the railroad, laying down rail from Calgary up to the Yukon. Among the workers on the line was a belligerent older man who delighted in picking on the teenage Creed. Though the man "had a hundred pounds on him", Creed gutted him from crotch to Adam's apple with his claws.
Victor maintained an annual tradition of torturing his younger brother Saul on his birthday, until both Saul and Clara fled as adults to work for a traveling circus. Sadly, thanks to his tracking skills, Victor found his siblings year after year to torture Saul personally. Victor never personally hurt Clara, but he often forced Saul to hurt her on his behalf. If Saul refused, Victor would harm him in Clara's place.
It was the year 1907 when Victor decided to hunt down and abuse Wolverine in Saul's place after he learned from Clara that Saul was dead.
By 1909, Victor had kidnapped the Canadian runaway, James "Logan" Howlett, the future mutant adventurer, Wolverine, in New York's Westchester County. He picked up Logan, unconscious from a crime scene linked to the "Knickerbocker Knifer," secretly, Dr. Claudia Russell, a female Romanian werewolf. Victor believed that Logan was the actual serial killer. Creed by this point knew that Logan had murdered his younger brother, Saul Creed, and had engaged in a brief romance with Creed's sister, Clara. Victor admitted to Logan, lobotomized by Essex, that he murdered his last surviving sibling, Clara, in the same fashion as the "Knickerbocker Knifer." Creed was posing as an orderly in the infamous Ravencroft Institute based in Westchester County, under the service of Dr. Nathaniel Essex, another enemy of Logan's who was seeking to perform experiments on Logan's healing factor. Essex lobotomized Logan, which put him in a comatose state. He then proceeded to cut Logan's left arm off, while Victor looked on in delight. Creed's intentions were to frame the "Knickerbocker Knifer" murders on Logan. Creed and Essex eventually murdered and experimented on Claudia Russell's cadaver after Russell helped Logan escape.
Creed eventually left Ravencroft with an escapee, Fyskov, who also went by "Fisk". Fisk had compelled Creed to leave his position as an orderly to earn more power as a man, and to join Fisk's Five Points Gang. Creed now went by an alias, "Mad Dog Murphy". Creed murdered Fisk's rival, Brick Barton, in order to recover Fisk's former bar, Satan's Pit. Together, Fyskov and "Mad Dog", AKA Creed, slowly rose in the ranks of the New York underworld as they decimated rival street gangs. Eventually, Creed alone attained the status and fear as the undisputed leader of the Five Points Gang. Fyskov was no longer his ally. Both men would vy for power, but Creed was slowly gaining more of a foothold in the underworld than Fisk. The underworld was ruled with brutal chaos. Murphy, AKA Creed fought off against vampires, steampunk-attired gangsters, and killer crocodile hybrids. After taking over the gangland of New York, Victor began receiving extortion payments from New York hoods, including Fyskov, or Fisk, the very same previous mentor of Creed's who inducted Creed into the local crime scene as "Mad Dog" Murphy in the first place. Out of resentment, and having been betrayed by his own previous protégé, Fyskov eventually finished progress on a mechanized robotic suit to murder Creed, but this plot ended only in Fyskov's murder at the hands and claws of Creed. This entire period would be somewhat immortalized in vintage photos hung in New York's oldest tavern, based around Westchester County. This very tavern would later be frequented by Logan himself over a century later, and learn of the entire period recounted by a historian.
Some time later, Creed and Logan were both present in Tokyo, seemingly unaware of each other's presence. Logan was tasked by the ninja clan, the Hand, to murder Victor Creed, who had been killing local ladies of the night. Logan was handed a katana by a cloaked stranger who spoke Japanese with a thick Italian accent. Under the threat of his own execution, Logan agreed and quickly tracked down Creed. Because he had been lobotomized back in 1909, Logan did not recognize Creed. Creed barely acknowledged Logan's presence, as he was focused on murdering more innocent people. Logan sliced off Creed’s hand with the katana but was shocked when Creed reattached his hand and it instantly healed. On seeing Victor Creed in Tokyo, Logan confirmed this was the earliest meeting that he could recall, “All I thought was… that an animal or a man? …He smelled more like… me.” Logan continued to fight Victor, impaling Creed with the katana when the cloaked stranger, Romulus, ended the fight by knocking Logan unconscious. It is conceivable that Romulus, who arranged this meeting in the first place, was also the one to halt it, merely wanting Logan and Creed to confront each other in battle. It remains uncertain just how long Creed was a pawn of Romulus. Romulus was one of the few men Victor Creed feared, not to mention that Romulus offered Creed an opportunity to indulge further in his sadism.
However, the most popular and earliest-known encounter between Logan and Creed, now going by the infamous alias "Sabretooth," took place in the Yukon, at the rural town of Mount Logan. Under the orders of Romulus, Sabretooth had been tracking Logan. There, Sabretooth integrated himself as part of the town's workforce. His arrival in town was sudden and unexpected. Locals knew who Creed was, going so far as to refer to him in person as "Mr. Creed." However, the townsfolk kept their distance but still behaved rather kindly, yet submissively, so as to not provoke Sabretooth. Creed entered a bar, a fight had broken out between several drunkards and Logan. Logan, suffering from memory damage due to the interference of his healing factor, once again did not remember Creed. Creed joined in on the fight, on Logan's side. Upon winning the fight, the two men drank beer and noticed that neither had met men so similar to each other, until the arrival of Logan's lover, Silver Fox. She and Logan left the bar, leaving Sabretooth smiling maliciously. Months later, on the evening of Logan's birthday, Creed brutally attacked Silver Fox, Logan's lover, allegedly for spurning his seductive advances. He tortured her and left her for dead, the first of many birthday "surprises" to come from Victor. Enraged, Logan battled Sabretooth. Creed was ready for Logan this time and overcame his defense. Logan, realizing he was outmatched, tried to flee but was easily tracked and caught by Sabretooth. They confronted each other on a mountain peak, both plummeting off the top. Logan, broken and beaten, was dragged off by Sabretooth and tossed into a pit. Romulus then became directly involved, and with Sabretooth's help, they overwhelmed Logan's mind, eventually brainwashing him into killing the town of Mount Logan for Romulus. Sabretooth then manipulated a feral, mindless Logan, submerged in a pit, into believing that the people of a nearby town had ordered Silver Fox's death. This prompted Logan to slaughter the inhabitants of Mount Logan, persuading him that "Them folks livin' in that dirt patch of a town over there? Ones you thought were yer friends? Well, they ain't. They're scared o' you, boy. They don't want ya around. So they got rid o' the one thing keepin' you here." As Logan emerged from the pit, Creed left behind a red ax for Logan to murder the residents of Mount Logan with.
Romulus tasked Sabretooth with maintaining Logan's conditioning. Each year on Logan's birthday, Creed tracked him down and beat him, reinforcing his mental control. The death of a close woman could also trigger Logan’s conditioning. This responsibility was crucial to Romulus, valuing Logan as a weapon. Sabretooth's drive to condition Logan was also due to his own conditioning, as he remembered to deliver Logan's "birthday present" even after memory implants altered their relationship.
In 1912, disgraced Pinkerton agent Silas Burr was on trial for multiple murders in Sioux City, Iowa, when a gun battle broke out. Burr was taken away by Sabretooth, a bailiff acting under Romulus's orders. Sabretooth brought Burr to a military training camp in Canada, where Burr became a training officer. Burr was hired by Frederick Hudson, Wolverine's maternal uncle. Among Burr's trainees was Wolverine, who Burr tortured relentlessly. When Burr's sociopathic behavior drove Logan to flee, Creed helped retrieve and recondition him before sending Logan off for further training.
In February 1929, Creed was working as a hitman for infamous Chicago-based mobster, Al Capone. With Creed's advice, Capone lured Canadian bootlegger, James Howlett, aka Logan, to the site of the infamous Saint Valentine's Day Massacre. Logan was caught in the crossfire. The Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre was Creed’s way of trying to relate to Logan on the grounds that both were natural predators.
In 1938, Sabretooth participated in the Nanjing massacre alongside Wolverine's former mentor, Ogun, and watched General Matsui enter the city.
During World War II, in 1944, Sabretooth continued to work for Romulus. Though Sabretooth collaborated with the Nazis, his allegiance was purely transactional. Assigned to a Nazi battalion, they were sent to the Italian Alps to confront Wolverine, Captain America, Bucky Barnes, and Namor McKenzie in a fierce battle, allowing the two erstwhile foes to face off again. In a desperate move, Sabretooth hurled a grenade, causing Wolverine to plummet over a cliff and crash to the ground below, all while Romulus observed from the shadows.
Sabretooth later served in the American military during the Korean War and Vietnam War, moving to the island of Madripoor after his time in the service.
In 1959, during a stay in Madripoor, secret agent Nick Fury found Sabretooth and recruited him into his black ops team known as "the Avengers." Sabretooth also had some unknown history with fellow recruit Kraven the Hunter in Africa, prompting the latter to shoot him on sight. The two put aside their differences long enough to complete their assigned mission. This mission involved traveling to Helsingborg, Sweden, to stop an impostor of the Red Skull from reforming the remnants of the Nazi party into a Fourth Reich and completing his research on a new super-soldier formula. Sabretooth walked into the path of an oncoming Nazi truck, slashing the driver to ribbons when he got out to check on him. The group then used the hijacked truck to gain entry into the impostor Skull's castle headquarters.
Kraven accidentally shot Sabretooth in the back during the ensuing battle as he was trying to target the Red Skull's impostor. Creed soon healed, but his bloodlust cost the group valuable information as he beheaded the Red Skull impostor before he could be properly interrogated. Fury took the Skull's briefcase and told the team that he would meet up with them later before disappearing for over a month. When he reappeared, he invited his team to the Stork Club in New York City to celebrate a job well done before all of the members went their separate ways.
After dinner, Sabretooth began hitchhiking out of New York on his way to Toronto. He was soon picked up by a driver in a pickup truck who had a skull logo hanging from his rearview mirror. The man turned out to be a werewolf whom Sabretooth had to fight to survive, though the creature was eventually run over by another car driving down the highway. Fury soon reunited his team when it became apparent that several other members had faced similar attacks. The attacks were orchestrated by an organization known as ICON and their leader Geoffrey Sydenham to get the Nazi hunters out of the way before continuing their plan to provoke World War III with the Soviet Union. Sabretooth proved himself invaluable, if somewhat unpredictable, to the Avengers' attempt to stop ICON, fighting their forces in the South China Sea, Madripoor, Wakanda, and Washington, D.C.
Sabretooth's bloodlust again became apparent when Fury allowed him to kill all of the members of the Ubermadchen after they had revealed what they knew of ICON's plot. After ICON had been defeated, Creed, along with the rest of the team, received pardons for any activities that they were wanted for by the American government. As the group disbanded, Creed headed for Los Angeles by train with his former teammates Dominic Fortune and the Blonde Phantom.
It was the early 1960s, and Victor Creed arrived to be interviewed for applying to Team X, a covert military espionage unit. Creed came to vicious blows against his personal adversary, Logan, in the very same office, over the murder of Silver Fox. The Team X recruitment office "coincidentally" happened to be interviewing Logan at the same time. The entire security force had to be called in to break up the fight. The agent conducting the interviews revealed to the team's head that they had known that both Creed and Logan had a history as bitter enemies, and they reached an agreement that brainwashing the mutants was a good idea. Their memories would be subsequently wiped, as the two became close comrades with Creed saving Logan’s life during a mission two years later. When Logan mentioned that it was his birthday, Sabretooth struck Logan in the face, provoking the latter to get into a fight simply "because it feels right."
Creed became a full-fledged member of Team X, a military black-ops unit established in the 1960s by the joint efforts of the subversive organization known as Weapon Plus, Romulus, and the U.S. Government's Central Intelligence Agency, overseen by C.I.A. operative Major Arthur Barrington. Other members included Creed's lifelong enemy Wolverine, Christoph "Maverick'" Nord, John "Kestrel" Wraith, the mysterious operative codenamed "Mastodon," and finally, Wolverine's former lover, Silver Fox. Sabretooth was dumbfounded that Silver Fox was still alive, and even inducted into the team. Sabretooth began referring to her as "Zorra de Plata."
Creed, codenamed "El Tigre," was stationed in Palma Soriano, Cuba, on November 24, 1963. In a local cantina, Creed expounded on the conspiracy surrounding President Kennedy’s assassination when Cuban soldiers burst in to arrest him and Wolverine. They had been betrayed by Zorra de Plata, aka Silver Fox. The two fled a bar. The duo was later joined by agents "Mastodon" and "Kestrel," and together, the four clashed against Silver Fox.
Agents Sabretooth, Wolverine, and Kestrel were sent on a mission in Southeast Asia. Sabretooth ordered Wraith to murder a prisoner, and Wraith complied.
At some point, Sabretooth and Wolverine were photographed together, standing outside the Great Pyramids in Egypt, as partners.
Team X's most infamous mission took place in Berlin in 1962, and their objective was to steal the Carbonadium Synthesizer from the Soviet Union. Sabretooth realized the mission was a "set up" because Omega Red was prepared to fight off Maverick, Wolverine, and Sabretooth. Sabretooth was personally tasked with disabling the Super Soldier Program. Sabretooth shot double agent Dr. Janice Hollenbeck in the back. The three male agents survived, and Hollenbeck's body was loaded into a jeep driven by Wraith, filling in for Agent Mastodon. The Synthesizer was hidden in the cadaver of contact, Janice Hollenbeck. Wraith left the jeep and left Creed to drive the jeep. Creed suggested that setting back the Soviet Super Soldier program thirty years was at least some consolation. The fleeing team members fled for the Havel River and a helicopter waiting to extract them. It was obvious by now that Sabretooth was a cold operative, willing to sell out his teammates to save himself and the mission.
On an unrelated mission, Sabretooth, Maverick, and Wolverine contemplated splitting up to shake their pursuers. Creed was gravely wounded by gunfire. Logan scooped Creed up and carried him towards the extraction site despite Maverick’s protests. As they reached a dead end in the industrial site, Creed woke up, good as new, and urged them to take on their pursuers in a fierce firefight, something that apparently succeeded considering all three survived the mission.
One of Wolverine's recollections regarding his service during Team X was that of Sabretooth showing him a completed Rubik’s cube, the appearance of which was troubling as they were not available until 1977 at the earliest.
It was 1968, in the Soviet Space Center based in Tyuratam, in the U.S.S.R., and Creed was ordered to sabotage a planned Soviet moon voyage by assassinating the Soviet agent, Epsilon Red. However, the mission was a failure, as only Epsilon Red's wife was murdered by Sabretooth.
Several more years passed, and Logan confronted Creed in West Berlin over his killing of the extraction target Janice Hollenbeck. A savage fight later, and Logan stormed out as Sabretooth wished him a happy birthday.
Sabretooth became known for his ruthlessness and cold efficiency. Around this time, he became intimate with a German spy named Leni Zauber, who was actually the mutant shapeshifter Mystique.
A pregnant Mystique bore Sabretooth a child in secret named Graydon Creed, whom she gave up for adoption. Sabretooth would not learn of the existence of his son nor the true identity of his lover for decades.
Soon afterwards, Sabretooth was kidnapped by the Weapon X program, who brainwashed him and turned him into an operative, alongside Wolverine. The Weapon X program was attempting to create super-powered sleeper agents. Part of the program was brainwashing and memory-implanting, performed by the Psi-Borg using elaborate movie sets.
In 1968, Creed made his way to Saigon, Vietnam, on vacation, taking jobs for the highest bidder, no matter which side. He was hired by a woman to investigate goings on in the jungle. Before beginning the job proper, Sabretooth enjoyed himself with one of his favorite pastimes, killing prostitutes. At a local bar, Creed was located by John Greycrow, a mutant going by the name of Scalphunter. Employed by Mister Sinister, who was responsible for the mysterious “goings on,” Scalphunter informed Creed that his client had been killed for asking too many questions but offered to compensate Sabretooth for his time and trouble to avoid any unpleasantness. Shrugging the whole thing off, Sabretooth accepted payment and departed, never learning the connection to, or existence of, Sinister. Creed was later offered a job by Essex leading his own team of enforcers, which he happily accepted.
In later years, Victor told people that he had killed his mother, Victoria, as well as Zebediah, but he in fact hid her away in the country's most expensive retirement home, the Golden Oaks Retirement Home. Victor made it a point to visit her every two weeks, and bring expensive gifts. Soon, she was dying of cancer. Before she succumbed to cancer, Victoria creed was murdered in her bed by "The Old Woman", a member of the Red Right Hand Organization. "The Old Woman" was seeking revenge against Victor Creed for having murdered her husband, he'd been investigating the activities of Team X for some time.
After multiple missions to Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and the Sultanate of Numidia, Team X was officially disbanded on October 5th, 1972.
After the disbandment of Team X, Sabretooth and Wolverine, now going by Logan, briefly reunited as friends when Logan learned of anti-mutant forces within the government. Sabretooth and Logan formed a team of rebel mutants, the first generation of "X-Men," and Sabretooth fell in love with a team member named Holo. This led Sabretooth to begin to become a better man, but on their last mission together, he was manipulated into killing her. This act was the last straw, motivating Sabretooth to forever serve as Wolverine's main adversary.
Some years later, Sabretooth and Logan crossed paths again, this time on opposite sides of the mutant agenda. Sabretooth was working for a secret cabal within the U.S. and Canadian governments, receiving funds from the Hellfire Club. The group used Sabretooth to hide their conspiracy. When Sabretooth assassinated Canadian secret agent Neil Langram, it drew the attention of Langram’s partner, Agent Logan. Investigating against orders, Logan found that everyone who knew anything had been terminated by Sabretooth. They faced off again, but Sabretooth escaped by detonating a bomb, recovering faster than Logan.
Despite his government work and mercenary activities, Creed remained under Romulus’ control. When Romulus arranged for Logan to become Experiment X in the Weapon X Program’s Adamantium bonding procedure, Sabretooth accompanied him. Sabretooth also became a test subject of Weapon X. It was unknown if Creed willingly submitted, but Romulus likely influenced his recruitment. During this time, Creed underwent additional memory implant procedures, restoring his memories of Silver Fox’s death and implanting the idea that Logan was his son.
Creed remained associated with intelligence services after the Weapon X Program. When Logan escaped and joined Department H, his memory was damaged. Traveling to Washington, DC, to speak with Dr. MacLain, the inventor of Adamantium, Logan sought answers. Creed was dispatched to the scene and ordered MacLain to stop talking. Amused that Logan had no memory of him, Creed played nice while subtly referencing their shared history, including Silver Fox’s death. Creed attempted to kill Logan for his superiors to study Logan’s skeleton, but Logan’s new Adamantium claws gave him the edge. Satisfied with a slash to Creed’s gut, Logan walked away.
For some time, Creed remained a drifter of the American backwoods, frequenting bars countless times. He was convinced a war waged between mutants and other humans was coming. Sabretooth was approached by Professor Charles Xavier, who hoped to recruit him to his team of mutant heroes. He offered Sabretooth a chance at redemption, but Sabretooth was uninterested, answering that as long as the world treated him as a monster, that was what he would give them, and that he wasn't interested in working with others. When Xavier told him that he was considering recruiting Logan, Sabretooth became enraged and attacked him. Xavier used his powers to immobilize Sabretooth and erased their meeting from his memories.
A few years later, Creed was working for the CIA on an extraction mission in Jerusalem. During this mission, Sabretooth unknowingly encountered Mystique, disguised as a male Mossad agent named Amichai Benvenisti. They aimed to retrieve Mystique's friend Destiny and clashed with Hydra. Captured by the Hydra scientist Catalyst, who enjoyed torturing Sabretooth, Creed suffered lasting psychological trauma. Together with "Amichai," Sabretooth escaped but was denied revenge when Catalyst apparently died in his own torture mechanisms.
Following this mission, Creed's relationship with the government soured, and he became a criminal mercenary. In Madripoor, he crossed paths with Logan's associate, Seraph. Despite Logan and the mercenary Viper's assistance, Seraph was critically wounded in a skirmish with Sabretooth before Viper could extract her and Logan to safety.
On another job, Sabretooth was hired by Martin Herzog to recover a pendant called the Cheating Star from his ex-mistress, Genevieve Darceneaux. Teenager Remy LeBeau, a member of the New Orleans' Thieves Guild, foiled Sabretooth's plans. Suspicious of LeBeau's true intentions, Creed waited until LeBeau stole the pendant. Sabretooth then kidnapped Genevieve and Remy's brother, Henri, forcing LeBeau to choose between them or the pendant. Though LeBeau surrendered the pendant, Sabretooth dropped the hostages to their deaths, leaving Remy to save only his brother while Genevieve died in his arms. Amused, Sabretooth vanished into the night.
Emerging instead as a costumed villain, Sabretooth became partners with the Constrictor and the two acted as enforcers for major criminal interests. Sabretooth battled Iron Fist and was badly beaten. Sabretooth and the Constrictor then fought Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Misty Knight, and Colleen Wing only to be defeated again. While working with the Constrictor, Creed continued his habit of stalking and killing human beings for pleasure, which earned him the newspaper title of "The Slasher"; he also attacked Misty Knight again. With the Constrictor, he attacked Harmony Young, but they were defeated by Luke Cage. The Constrictor and Sabretooth soon dissolved their partnership, and Sabretooth nearly killed the Constrictor on one occasion.
Some time later, he, along with other mutant mercenaries, was recruited by future X-Man Gambit as part of the Marauders, a group of mutant mercenaries in service to Mr. Sinister. Sinister hired them to wipe out the Morlocks, a group of mutants living underground. Sabretooth personally gutted Gambit after the latter attempted to stop the mission.
Over several hours, Sabretooth and the Marauders killed hundreds of mutants. Few could match their powers or ferocity. The extermination would have been total, but several groups of well-trained mutants and heroes entered the tunnels. The original X-Factor was one such group, searching for a wayward ward, and discovered the massacre. They only temporarily slowed Sabretooth, who continued his murderous work.
X-Factor and the X-Men saved a few dozen Morlocks from the Marauders. The Marauders left, but Sabretooth stayed behind to finish off any survivors. Sabretooth found the Morlock Healer and was about to kill him when the now-costumed Wolverine intervened. It had been decades since their prior encounter. The X-Men escaped with some Morlocks, and Storm sent Wolverine back to capture a Marauder prisoner. Wolverine decided to save the Healer instead. Sabretooth, eager for a rematch, challenged Wolverine. Wolverine caused a cave-in to separate Sabretooth from the Healer.
Sabretooth in an attempt to impress his training mentor, the assassin known as "The Foreigner", volunteered to kill the thief known as the Black Cat who had stolen a solid gold notebook from the Foreigner's office. However, the Queens-based vigilante, Spider-Man intervened, and defeated Sabretooth.
Angry at Wolverine, Sabretooth tracked him to the X-Men’s mansion. He took out an unaware Rogue and located the Cerebro room, where Psylocke had detected him. Though he stopped her from sounding an alarm, Psylocke avoided his claws and chased him through the mansion. Sabretooth eventually caught her, but Wolverine intervened. They fought through the mansion and its grounds, but Sabretooth soon realized he had been tricked. While focused on Wolverine, his psychic defenses were down, allowing Psylocke to gather information about the Marauders and their master. Refusing to be captured by Magneto, Sabretooth leapt into the lake and disappeared into the night.
Sabretooth quickly rejoined the Marauders and was sent by Sinister to kill former X-Man Polaris. The trio failed, realizing Polaris was already possessed by their teammate Malice, testing her suitability as a host. Feeling foolish, Sabretooth challenged Sinister after being berated for a failed assassination of Madelyne Pryor. Sinister easily rebuffed the attack, nearly killing Sabretooth in the process. However, his healing factor spared him from death.
Sinister sent the Marauders to a San Francisco hospital to finish off Madelyne. However, Madelyne had called for help from the X-Men, who arrived just in time. Unlike before, the X-Men were well-prepared and decisively defeated the Marauders. Sabretooth, overconfident due to Scrambler neutralizing Wolverine’s powers, was stabbed in the heart by Wolverine using his Adamantium claws. Sabretooth survived, and escaped with the other Marauders.
Shortly after their confrontation, the Marauders learned the X-Men had apparently died facing the Adversary in Dallas, TX. To their surprise, the X-Men attacked them while they were setting up a new base in the Morlock Tunnels. Sabretooth identified the attackers, but the X-Men put the Marauders on the defensive. Outmatched, the Marauders fled. They reunited with Sinister, who rallied them for an ambush at Xavier's mansion. During the ambush, Sabretooth tried to settle a score with Psylocke but found his speed and strength useless against her mental attacks. In his confrontation with Wolverine, Sabretooth was defeated again. Wolverine impaled Sabretooth's heart with his Adamantium claws. While the other X-Men believed Sabretooth was dead, Wolverine had his doubts.
Shortly after the confrontation with Sinister, the X-Men and X-Factor abandoned the mansion, leaving Sabretooth buried in the rubble. The New Mutants found him, but he was too weak to fight and supposedly died out of exhaustion. Mirage sensed that death wasn't coming for him, but the group dismissed it as her powers acting erratically and left his body behind.
Despite his initially assumed death, Sabretooth survived. Months later, as Logan's birthday approached, Sabretooth returned to Madripoor, leaving a note for other criminals to learn that only Sabretooth was allowed to kill Wolverine.
With Sinister presumed dead, Sabretooth became a free mercenary. Under contract with the Red Skull, he assassinated Symkaria's prime minister to incite a war with the US. When a witness implicated him, Silver Sable and Captain America tracked him to Mexico. During a fight, Sabretooth overshot an attack, causing a wall to fall on him and may have killed him. Again, not likely.
While Captain America believed that Sabretooth was dead, Creed returned to New York to hunt Morlock survivors. He killed member Chicken Legs but couldn't finish off fellow survivor Mole, who escaped. Sabretooth then targeted Archangel, gravely injuring him. Returning to the Morlock tunnels, he found and killed Mole.
Sabretooth continued hunting Morlock survivors in the tunnels. The sounds of a slaughter attracted Caliban, who had been hunting Sabretooth. They fought, but Caliban proved too strong and snapped Sabretooth's back, leaving him for dead. Sabretooth recovered in secret.
Sabretooth survived by feeding on albino alligators in the sewers. He was roused by the passing robotic girl, Elsie Dee, who mentioned helping the injured Wolverine. Enraged by the mere mention of his old foe, Sabretooth attacked.
Sabretooth claimed to be Logan's father, which Logan rejected. Their conflict was complicated by a powerful rainstorm flooding the tunnels. With Cable and Elsie Dee's help, Sabretooth was captured by Nick Fury and put into restraints on a S.H.I.E.L.D. helicopter. A sedative was applied, but it wasn't enough to stop Sabretooth, who quickly escaped and attacked Wolverine. Elsie Dee tossed Sabretooth off the helicopter into the river below. During his brief restraint, a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent sampled Sabretooth's DNA, proving his claim of being Logan's father was false.
Sabretooth returned to Manhattan, seeking another confrontation with Wolverine. When millionaire Ronald Parvenue planned to unveil a mysterious creature at his new casino, Sabretooth knew Wolverine would come. The creature was the powerful Blackfoot forest spirit, Hunter in Darkness. A sniper's intervention caused chaos, prompting Wolverine to intervene. This brought out Sabretooth and Lady Deathstrike, both wanting Wolverine's life. The ensuing battle was chaotic, with the freed Hunter in Darkness and the sniper, Emmy Doolan, whose father was killed by the creature. Her mercury-tipped bullets triggered memory implants in Sabretooth and Wolverine from Weapon X. Sabretooth realized his belief that he was Wolverine's father was just programming. They recovered from the mercury's effects, and while Wolverine dealt with Ms. Doolan, Sabretooth escaped.
While traveling through the Midwest, Sabretooth encountered werewolf, Jack Russell, the direct descendant of Creed's former enemy, Dr. Claudia Russell, at a country bar. Both men recognized one other. Sabretooth lured Russell outside with a young woman. Russell found Sabretooth assaulting her and transformed into the werewolf. They clashed until hunters intervened, seeing Sabretooth as a human and Russell as a monster. Russell fled.
As a freelance assassin, Sabretooth was occasionally targeted. In Hong Kong, he was attacked by a telepath named Birdy but overpowered her. Birdy became his unwilling telepathic servant, calming his urges with her "glow." Sabretooth grew addicted to it and used Birdy both mentally and physically.
With Birdy, Sabretooth cultivated a more respectable image. He was hired by the Fenris twins and Matsu’o Tsurayaba to help revive Omega Red. They captured most of the X-Men's "blue" team but needed Wolverine. Sabretooth couldn't remember Omega Red but recognized Gambit and hinted at his dark past.
Sabretooth, with mind-controlled Psylocke, hunted Wolverine and Maverick. Psylocke secretly controlled Sabretooth and staged a capture. They returned with Wolverine and Maverick in bonds, but Psylocke broke her cover and attacked. Sabretooth eventually broke free of her control. With the X-Men freed, an explosion allowed everyone to escape, and Sabretooth left without pay.
Sabretooth was drawn into a supernatural battle by the mage Mordred the Mystic, who used him to delay Interpol agent Sam Buchanan. They joined forces against demonic creatures. Mordred succeeded and sent Sabretooth back without understanding his role.
Sabretooth took an assassination job from Mr. Shiro, head of the Yakuza. He clashed with Iron Fist, who managed to knock Sabretooth into an electrical conduit, allowing his allies and the witness to escape.
Sabretooth sought revenge on Doctor Phillip Chambers, involved in Weapon X. This led to conflicts with Spider-Man and the Punisher. Sabretooth found and killed Chambers, ending the investigation into Roxxon’s activities.
At a wrestling match, Sabretooth was attacked by a Shiva robot from the Weapon X program. John Wraith warned him of more robots to come. Wraith gathered old teammates to address the failing age suppression factor. They were surprised to find Silver Fox alive, now a Hydra agent. The group confronted Aldo Ferro, who manipulated their perceptions. Under Ferro's mental command, Sabretooth killed Silver Fox again, however, this time for real. Under Ferro’s illusions, Sabretooth seemed to be eaten by a tree and disappeared.
Ferro used his Psi-Borg abilities to help Sabretooth escape. In return, Ferro sorted out Creed’s implants to restore his true memories and drove him back to his mansion in Vancouver. There, ninjas ambushed Sabretooth, which annoyed him since his assistant, Birdy, hadn't handled them. Fearing for her life, Birdy deactivated the mansion’s alarm, letting mercenaries inside. They captured Sabretooth for an armored individual named Tribune, who needed him to assassinate Mystique. Tribune implanted an explosive device near Sabretooth’s aorta, set to detonate in 48 hours. Sabretooth agreed to the mission but vowed to come after Tribune later.
Sabretooth picked up Birdy and tracked a lead to Paris, where he attempted to kill Mystique. Though familiar with her scent, he realized they had never met. Mystique morphed into Leni Zauber, whom he knew from Berlin. Wolverine's arrival complicated things, so they agreed to a sit-down at a restaurant. Sabretooth learned about Leni and their mutual son. Enraged, he decided to attack Tribune instead. With Birdy's telepathy, they recalled Tribune’s location and returned to New York.
With 15 minutes to spare, Sabretooth attacked Tribune, tossing him out of a building. He forced the doctor who implanted the explosive to guide him through its removal. Sabretooth finished just in time and used the doctor’s body as a shield when Tribune returned. With Tribune out of ammo, Sabretooth disabled his armor and had Birdy use telepathy to identify him. He discovered Tribune was Graydon Creed, his illegitimate son with Mystique. Graydon, born human, hated all mutants, and orchestrated the situation to trick Sabretooth into killing Mystique.
Furious, Sabretooth told Graydon, "You? My son? You sniveling little worm? I'd rather have that sawn-off Logan for a son than you! You were just sold a woof ticket! Why, you ain't worth bloodyin' my hands over! I'm just gonna snap your neck like a Sunday chicken..." Victor moved to kill Graydon, but was stopped by Birdy. Graydon killed Birdy after he told her that he had read surveillance reports regarding her activity with Sabretooth. The murder committed by Graydon gained Sabretooth's twisted respect, and Sabretooth decided to let his son live. Sabretooth departed, unsure of his next move now that Birdy was dead.
Without "the glow," Sabretooth's bloodlust spiraled out of control. Desperate for a telepath to replace Birdy, he targeted Charles Xavier but was captured by the X-Men. Xavier promised to help him stop killing and kept him in a cell below the mansion. This decision divided the X-Men, especially with Logan unavailable to voice his opinion. Sabretooth taunted and threatened those who fed him, but Xavier and Jean Grey refused to grant him "the glow," hoping to wean him off the cravings.
Mutant tracker Caliban discovered Sabretooth's presence and kidnapped Jubilee, demanding Sabretooth in exchange. Xavier granted Sabretooth "the glow" to negotiate Jubilee's release. Sabretooth and Shadowcat went to Caliban's location, but Caliban trapped them. Sabretooth used Shadowcat's phasing power to escape his manacles and attacked Caliban. Jubilee and Shadowcat intervened, re-capturing Sabretooth.
A power outage triggered by Beast unlocked Sabretooth's cell, allowing him to escape. He targeted Jubilee but was recaptured with her help. When the Phalanx attacked, Sabretooth helped the X-Men fight them off. During a battle, his manacles were damaged, allowing him to escape.
Sabretooth returned to help the X-Men fight the Phalanx at a freighter, detecting a Phalanx disguised as a young mutant. After being knocked unconscious, he was taken back to the mansion, yearning for escape. He tested his cell's force field and found himself weakened by it. Wolverine threatened to put a claw through Sabretooth's brain, and Sabretooth goaded him into doing it, threatening the lives of the X-Men, including every surviving woman that Logan has romantically pursued. Wolverine complied, causing an unexpected lobotomy.
Surprisingly, Sabretooth survived, but his personality shifted to that of a pacified child. The X-Men allowed him freer rein around the X-Mansion's grounds, though Wolverine warned it was an act. As Creed healed, his original brutal personality returned. Xavier decided to surrender over to the U.S. government. Sabretooth escaped by tricking X-Men member, Boomer, into exploding a time bomb, shattering his manacles. He wounded fellow X-Men member, Psylocke, and fled.
Sabretooth headed to Manhattan, intending to kill the children of the Generation X school. The X-Men thwarted him, and he was eventually captured by Cyclops and a SWAT team. Sabretooth was taken into government custody by Val Cooper.
Valerie Cooper wanted Sabretooth put down, but he was taken to a government research facility in Washington D.C. and fitted with a restraining collar that zapped him if he got angry at anyone but a designated target. To Cooper's surprise, Sabretooth joined the government-sponsored X-Factor team. Unknown to her, he was also secretly recruited into the government’s "Hound Program" to act as a mole.
Sabretooth was introduced to his new teammates during a mission to eliminate an experimental weapon gone rogue. Together, Sabretooth and X-Factor managed to stop the threat. His teammates were skeptical about his loyalty, especially Mystique, Polaris, and Wild Child, who had personal histories with him. They tested his reactions via a VR program but still kept him in a cell, which angered him.
When a training Sentinel malfunctioned, Forge sent Mystique to release Sabretooth, but both were taken by Fatale to the Dark Beast, who wanted them to kill Forge. They refused and attacked the Dark Beast, who escaped. Sabretooth helped locate the real Beast and showed loyalty by not betraying X-Factor's hidden teammate, Shard.
The team went to Georgia to recover mutants but found Jamie Madrox and his dupes instead. Sabretooth deduced Mystique’s escape but didn't reveal it. Mystique then plotted to assassinate her son, Graydon Creed, a presidential candidate. X-Factor protected him, with Sabretooth enjoying tormenting his "baby boy." Despite their efforts, Graydon was assassinated by an unknown individual.
Mystique and Sabretooth faked their deaths to retrieve a device from a dead S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. The device led them to their old enemy, Catalyst. After removing Sabretooth’s inhibitor collar, Mystique forced him to help destroy Catalyst’s work. Sabretooth learned Catalyst was alive and continuing his work. Sabretooth stopped Cypher from starting a nuclear war but was denied revenge when Mystique killed Catalyst. Mystique manipulated Sabretooth into putting his collar back on by threatening his life.
When Sabretooth's old partner, the Constrictor, started killing their former acquaintances, the government released Sabretooth to hunt him down. He teamed up with Power Man and Iron Fist. During the fight, Sabretooth's collar was disabled, and he tried to kill Constrictor but was stopped by Power Man. Sabretooth was returned to X-Factor.
X-Factor leader Forge discovered a government plan to replace them with Hounds and decided to sever ties with the government. Sabretooth helped fake their deaths to evade government handlers and continued participating in team missions, albeit with his usual complaints.
Despite appearing complacent, Sabretooth was biding his time. When Wild Child's old girlfriend was killed, Sabretooth recognized the killers' method and helped track them down. They found the killers on Vancouver Island and met Lisel, the sister of Wild Child's ex-girlfriend. Sabretooth convinced Lisel to give up her revenge. He and Wild Child confronted one of the brothers, Yuri, who was numbed by painkillers. Sabretooth took some pills, numbing himself enough to kill Yuri despite his inhibitor collar. He staged Yuri's death as an accident and kept the pills for future use. Wild Child remained unaware of the truth.
Back at X-Factor's hideout, Sabretooth used the pills to remove his collar and acted on his orders as a sleeper agent for the Hound program. He tore through the team, injuring Forge, Polaris, Wild Child, and Mystique, and caused Shard to discorporate. They survived only because Val Cooper intervened and got them medical attention.
Free from X-Factor, Sabretooth turned to the Hound program and was ordered to capture a young mutant named Trevor Chase. Instead, he chose to torment Mystique by killing Trevor, her deceased lover Destiny's grandson. Before he could kill Trevor Stone, a fellow Hound, reminded Sabretooth he could join the Hounds or be hunted by them. Angry at being controlled, Sabretooth killed Trevor’s parents out of spite.
Sabretooth continued to defy the Hound administrators by killing the mutants he was supposed to recruit. On one mission, Omega Red attacked him, planning to trade him to Elena Ivanova for revenge. Sabretooth escaped and confronted Stone, letting him live but resigning from the Hounds. He warned that if any Hounds came after him, he would kill them.
Thanks to unknown benefactors, Sabretooth underwent the same Adamantium bonding process as Wolverine, gaining an unbreakable skeleton and metal claws. This occurred when Logan had lost his metal claws. Sabretooth first used his new advantages against Wolverine, who was marrying the Madripoor-based crime boss, Viper, to keep Madripoor safe. After the wedding ceremony, Sabretooth murdered the minister, and taunted Wolverine about killing Viper. With Wolverine only having bone claws, Sabretooth had the upper hand. Sabretooth taunted Wolverine numerous times during this fight. "Now it's me who's got the unbreakable bones." "Before, the Adamantium gave you the delusion we were equals. Those days are done" "Stab me with those pathetic stubs I left you..." Sabretooth then announced to a gravely-wounded Wolverine, "I'm the King of the World!" Shadowcat's inclusion and powers saved Wolverine.
Later on, Creed was forced to join forces with Wolverine and Shadowcat on the island of Madripoor, to defeat forces of HYDRA and the ninja syndicate, the Hand. Creed feared that the crime haven of Madripoor would be heavily regulated with too many laws imposed by both HYDRA and the Hand. So, to preserve the infamy and disorder of Madripoor's underworld, he joined forces with Wolverine and Shadowcat to fend off the forces of HYDRA and Hand operatives. Sabretooth still remained confident that he would always be capable of surpassing Wolverine in all fighting skills.
Sabretooth returned to his mercenary lifestyle, and was hired by Hoo, another mutant, to break into Worthington Industries. Using Hoo’s mind-swapping ability, Sabretooth placed his mind in Wolverine’s body and tricked Archangel into taking him into the research facility. Wolverine arrived in Sabretooth’s body, and Archangel destroyed the facility's machinery. Sabretooth's mind was restored to his own body, and he escaped, unaware that Hoo’s employer, Sebastian Shaw, would have used the research against him.
Sabretooth became the prey of bounty hunter Teneber in the snowy Canadian Rockies. Teneber used ultrasonic broadcasts and scent trickery to foil Sabretooth’s senses and bullets that neutralized his healing factor. Sabretooth suppressed his animalistic side, relied on human logic, and disarmed Teneber, leaving him naked in the wilderness.
Sabretooth decided to eliminate a threat, Elena Ivanova. He set a trap in the tunnels beneath Manhattan, but Elena’s friend Maverick created a flashflood, sweeping Sabretooth away.
Apocalypse chose Sabretooth and Wolverine to fight for the Horseman of Death title. Wolverine fought to prevent Sabretooth from gaining more power. Despite his advantages, Sabretooth was bested by Wolverine. Apocalypse used Sabretooth’s Adamantium to augment Wolverine, leaving Sabretooth without his Adamantium skeleton and claws.
Weakened, Sabretooth sought aid from the Blood Tigers in the Andes Mountains. They helped him recuperate, believing him to be the “God of the Hunt.” Gambit and Courier sought Sabretooth’s help to find one of Sinister’s hidden bases. Sinister restored Sabretooth’s healing factor in exchange for genetic material from Courier. However, Sabretooth suffered from Adamantium withdrawal. Gambit procured Adamantium from the Constrictor, and the New Son stabilized Sabretooth’s biochemistry.
Months later, Sabretooth protected Mister Sinister from Domina, a Neo who blamed Sinister for mutant deaths. Sabretooth would fail his task, as Domina proved formidable and killed Sinister.
Mystique recruited Sabretooth for her Brotherhood of Mutants despite their past. Together, they invaded Muir Island, where Sabretooth almost killed Wolfsbane before escaping in the confusion. Later, Sabretooth met Malcolm Colcord, head of the Weapon X project. After being gassed, Sabretooth woke up to find himself undergoing the Adamantium bonding process. Mentally inhibited from attacking others, he was forced to join Weapon X.
His first mission was to extract Wolverine from a facility. Sabretooth then brought in Maverick, seriously injuring him. He also tried to kill John Wraith but was teleported back to deal with a rampaging Wolverine. Sabretooth was about to finish off Wolverine until Beast and the Shiver Man intervened. Meanwhile, Maverick was transformed into Agent Zero.
Sabretooth continued recruiting for Weapon X, bringing in Wild Child and attempting to recruit Sunfire, but failed and retaliated against Wild Child. He also recruited Deadpool, who became disillusioned and tried to save Copycat, but Sabretooth killed her and stopped Deadpool from killing the Director.
Despite appearing loyal, Sabretooth continued senseless murders. Brent Jackson ordered him to stop, and Sabretooth agreed to limit his killings to mutants. Sabretooth stole the Director’s files and activation codes, using the Mutant Power Cannon to nullify Wolverine’s powers. He recruited Omega Red and Lady Deathstrike, kidnapping Amiko and crippling Yukio. Sabretooth revealed Wolverine’s memory problems were due to his healing factor, but the Director and Weapon X troops intervened, and Sabretooth fled.
Sabretooth returned to his life as an assassin and encountered a beautiful woman named Bonnie Hale. Discovering she was infected with a bio-engineered plague, Sabretooth killed her to prevent its release and hunted down the responsible scientists.
Continuing his vendetta against Weapon X, Sabretooth used stolen files to kill future recruits. He lured Weapon X operatives into a trap, beating and disfiguring Aurora. He also sold information from Weapon X’s files, leading to his capture by Agent Zero. Back in custody, Sabretooth was implanted with more mental blocks but refused to reveal the location of the stolen files. He was assigned missions, including collecting non-useful mutants for Neverland Camp and preventing the Director’s ex-wife from remarrying.
Despite being under tight mental control, Sabretooth gathered tools for the future. At Neverland Camp, he detected a familiar scent from the low-level scientist, Dr. Windsor, hinting that he knew Windsor was actually Mister Sinister. Windsor informed Sabretooth that Mesmero was losing his powers and control over him. With his mental leash broken, Sabretooth escaped with Windsor's help.
Determined on revenge, Sabretooth tried to sneak back into the Weapon X facility. Initially, he benefited from hostilities between factions within Weapon X. However, Marrow, assigned to track him down, caught him. Despite maintaining the upper hand, Marrow opened a flood valve, washing Sabretooth away to his apparent death.
Sabretooth survived and soon accepted a job from a CIA black ops project called The Workshop. He was tasked with tracking the feral mutant known as "the Native" in the mountains of Vancouver. When the Native proved too cunning, Sabretooth approached Wolverine for help, knowing Logan had spent time with her after escaping Weapon X. Sabretooth followed Logan to the Native's den, but she escaped with Logan. Fired by his handlers, Sabretooth continued tracking the pair. He arrived shortly after Workshop agents captured the Native and left Logan for dead.
Still angry about being fired, Sabretooth promised to help Logan rescue the Native. Once at the Workshop's hidden facility, Logan turned on Sabretooth, trapping him beneath their vehicle. Sabretooth attacked the Workshop’s administrators while Logan freed the Native. Sabretooth followed them, incapacitated Logan, and killed the Native, who was carrying Logan’s baby, leaving a message in blood for Wolverine, "I did you a favor Runt. You can thank me later."
Sabretooth, along with several other villains, was approached by Valeria Merrick, claiming to work for the criminal mastermind Tristan Silver. They were directed to steal a disc from AIM with information on super-powered individuals. The mission went sideways, and Sabretooth escaped. Nick Fury mistakenly believed Sabretooth had orchestrated the mission. In fact, the true mastermind was Tristan Silver himself.
Sabretooth sold the files he stole from Weapon X to Megacorp, a corporation behind the mental blocks preventing Malcolm Colcord from recovering the files' location. Summoned to Megacorp, Sabretooth met its head, a disguised John Sublime. Sabretooth accepted a contract to attack Mister Sinister. After neutralizing Sinister's mutants, Sabretooth delivered Sinister to Sublime and was handsomely paid.
Sabretooth was then recruited by Exodus into the latest Brotherhood of Mutants. Their first mission was to attack an Independence Day celebration in Philadelphia, but they were rebuffed by a small group of X-Men tipped off by Juggernaut. The Brotherhood attacked the X-Mansion, where Sabretooth faced Gambit, one of the Stepford Cuckoos, and Northstar. Severely injured, Sabretooth found himself at the mercy of Wolverine, who defanged him in the fight.
In Canada, Sabretooth encounters Sasquatch and the Wendigo. Sasquatch suspects Creed of human deaths. Creed sets traps and plays mind-games with Wendigo before attempting to kill it. They fall into the Arctic Sea, and both are presumed dead. Sabretooth emerges victorious with Wendigo's hide.
Sabretooth went from hunter to hunted when the super-powered Children of the Vault pursued him for discovering their existence on M-Day. Barely escaping in Nogales, Mexico, and with his healing factor greatly reduced, he sought sanctuary with the X-Men, who put him in chains. He initially kept quiet about his pursuers until Northstar and Aurora, brainwashed by the Children, attacked the mansion. Sabretooth then explained what he knew about the Children and their beginnings.
Realizing the threat the Children posed to humanity, Cyclops ordered Rogue to form a strike force, including Sabretooth. To control him, Beast injected Sabretooth with nano-sentinels. Using Cable's advanced tech, the team located the Children’s flying ship, the Conquistador, en route to attack the mansion. Sabretooth and the team boarded the vessel, faced tough resistance, but ultimately prevailed.
Sabretooth renews his rivalry with Wolverine at the X-Mansion. Wolverine throws Sabretooth through a window. Wolverine remembers Sabretooth supposedly killing Silver Fox. Sabretooth says, "quod sum eris" meaning "I am what you will be." Wolverine calls Sabretooth insane and threatens him with claws. Sabretooth threatens to rip Wolverine's heart out. Wolverine pops his claws into Sabretooth's throat. Wolverine awakens chained to the Blackbird's roof, breaks free, and attacks Sabretooth. The jet crashes. They fight until Storm intervenes with a lightning bolt. Sabretooth is chained up in Wakanda. He escapes but is caught by Black Panther. Wolverine slices off Sabretooth's left hand. Sabretooth is placed in a vibranium holding cell. Wolverine and Black Panther discuss "Lupus sapiens" evolution. An enhanced Wild Child attacks Wolverine. Wolverine, Sasquatch, Wolfsbane, Feral, and Thornn investigate the Weapon X facility. They found Sabretooth sleeping in a pod, however, according to Wolverine, Creed's scent was "off", as in different. Emerging from the pod, Sabretooth murdered Feral. Wolverine retrieves the Muramasa sword and sets out to put an end to Sabretooth's carnage. At Silver Fox's cabin, Wolverine decapitated who he assumed to be Sabretooth with the Muramasa Blade. After having decapitated Sabretooth, sporting his classic costume, Wolverine said aloud, "Happy Birthday". Creed would officially be reported as "Presumed Deceased" by global espionage organization, SHIELD.
When Wolverine died, and was sent to Hell, he ran across the wrathful Sabretooth whom he had decapitated. Sabretooth appeared under the control of the Devil. Sabretooth defied the Devil's cries fro help after Wolverine pinned the Devil to a wall. Sabretooth wielded the Devil's sword, symbolizing Hell's ruler. Wolverine beheaded Sabretooth once again, leaving his soul to rot in Hell. Yet, somehow Creed returned to personally strike at Wolverine in the land of the living. During Sabretooth’s supposed death, his old master, Romulus, was captured by Wolverine and imprisoned in Cloak’s Darkforce dimension. Sabretooth kidnapped Cloak’s partner, Dagger, forcing him to free Romulus. Wolverine confirmed that the decapitated Sabretooth was still in his grave. An encounter with Romulus and his twin, Remus, led Wolverine to the Weapon X facility, where he discovered Sabretooth clones and the actual genetic template himself, Victor Creed. This entire period between the Muramasa decapitation was a ploy by Romulus to build a secret race by cloning Creed as his main enforcer to deter any interference by Wolverine.
Creed claimed he had been training and making himself smarter. Initially, the fight with Wolverine seemed even, but Creed's clones emerged and attacked Wolverine, allowing Creed to escape. Wolverine and Remus, rebellious sister to Romulus, destroyed the savage clones and the entire Weapon X facility.
Sabretooth fled to Romulus’ main headquarters in Italy. Wolverine, Remus, Cloak, and Dagger arrived to confront them. Faced with defeat, Sabretooth activated an escape plan and bailed. Romulus was soon incarcerated in the Raft prison.
Hired by the Hand's Tokyo faction, Sabretooth started a gang war in Japan. He kills Mr. Takenaka, leader of the Yakuza. Sabretooth kills the Yakuza at an airport and battles Logan. Their fight ends surrounded by Yakuza, the Hand, Silver Samurai, and Logan's daughter. Creed works with Mind Ninjas and Mystique, resurrected using the Hand's mystic rituals, enhancing her powers and personality. Sabretooth allows Wolverine to kill Azuma Goda, Creed's previous employer from the Hand. Creed saves Mystique and declares himself ruler of East Asia.Sabretooth and Mystique convinced the new Silver Samurai, Lady Deathstrike, and Lord Deathstrike to join them, taking over Japan's criminal and ninja organizations.
Celebrating their victory in Madripoor, their party was crashed by Wolverine, who gravely injured them for the carnage they caused. Sabretooth, wanting to remain active, accepted an assassination commission from Kade Kilgore to kill the Beast on the S.W.O.R.D. space station. Sabretooth failed and was pushed into space by the Beast but was later retrieved by Kilgore, who had Sabretooth train him.
Soon after, Sabretooth, Mystique, and a new Brotherhood of Mutants led by Daken ambushed Beast’s students in Genosha, targeting the young "Evan," a clone of Apocalypse. They kidnapped Evan, killing random people and manipulating Daken to provoke a confrontation with Wolverine. Sabretooth's plan succeeded when Wolverine killed Daken, and Sabretooth fled when Evan used Apocalypse's power.
Secure in his position as reigning head of the Asian underworld, Sabretooth indulged in smaller schemes. He, Mystique, and Lady Mastermind robbed banks to buy Madripoor from Hydra, leaving illusions to blame the X-Men. When the real X-Men intervened, Sabretooth and Raven escaped. Sabretooth also lent his presence to the Hellfire Academy, established by Victor's previous hunting partner, Kade Kilgore, training the next generation of mutant super-villains and selling Sentinels. Sabretooth trained Kade Kilgore to attack the Jean Grey School. Kilgore targeted Beast, but Abigail Brand blasted Sabretooth away. He shrugged off the X-Men's destruction of Kilgore's empire and continued training the remaining Hellions.
When Sabretooth learned that Wolverine had lost his healing factor, he used all the resources of the Hand and his criminal empire to exploit this weakness. Mystique stole a sword from the X-Mansion, leading Wolverine and Shadowcat to a mall atop the old Howlett estate in Canada. Logan was beaten by Creed’s assassins and an acupuncturist named Fiber heightened his sensitivity to pain. Inside the mall, Logan was provoked into acting savagely, and Sabretooth confronted him, reducing Logan to a quivering mess. Creed mocked Logan for abandoning his “code of honor” and refused to give him a quick death, savoring his superiority.
Despite his victory, Creed’s empire felt hollow without his vendetta against Logan. He continued fortifying Madripoor and dealing with criminal elements, but the thrill was gone. Sabretooth saw new opportunities with a mysterious sphere that could rewrite reality. In his search, he encountered Wolverine, who was undercover for S.H.I.E.L.D. They clashed, and Logan defeated Creed in single combat, dismantling his organization. Viper bought Sabretooth out of prison and poisoned him with a lethal toxin. Sabretooth fought Wolverine one last time, but was unaware it would be their final encounter as Logan died stopping Doctor Cornelius.
Devastated that he wasn’t the one to kill Logan, Sabretooth threw himself into mercenary work, killing in Somalia and kidnapping soldiers. During this period, the Arcadia Foundation tracked him down and implanted him with trigger words. A group of Arcadia test subjects escaped and contacted Sabretooth and others, proving their story and forcing their cooperation. Mystique lent her resources to their quest, and they reluctantly agreed.
Before their mission began, Sabretooth and Mystique were summoned to Genosha by Magneto to fight the Red Skull, who had stolen Charles Xavier’s brain. An inversion spell went awry, turning good into evil and vice versa. The inverted Avengers carried out selfish schemes, while the inverted X-Men fell under the dominion of Genesis. Steve Rogers recruited Sabretooth and other inverted villains for a new “astonishing Avengers” roster. When a spell for reversing the inversion was unleashed, Iron Man remained his new self, and Sabretooth and Havok continued to be inverted.
Creed's permanent moral inversion developed into a deep sense of empathy and regret for his past actions. Seeking redemption, Sabretooth remained a willing prisoner of the Avengers, looking to atone for his violent past. Though still a vicious fighter, he showed restraint and made his tracking skills available to the Avengers Unity Division. He fought against Ultron, the Descendants, and the High Evolutionary on Counter-Earth. Official Avengers records were mixed, but he may have achieved associate status during this time.
Creed eventually reconnected with Mystique, Shogun, and the others for the Arcadia mission. The Wolverines team attempted to retrieve Logan’s body, hoping his genes could save Shogun and his allies. The mission failed when Mr. Sinister stole Logan’s body for his experiments. The X-Men intervened and secured Logan’s corpse, while some of Shogun’s allies defected to Sinister. Mystique revealed her own plans and intimidated the group into staying on the Changeling ship.
Before continuing Mystique's business, the Changeling was attacked by Fang of the Imperial Guard. Fang brought Creed to confront the J’Grajj space pirates, who had found religion and now killed mercifully. Creed struggled with the moral decision and told Fang to kill the killers, immediately regretting it. He learned that morality cannot be imposed and questioned the righteousness of his choices.
The Wolverines were strung along by Mystique, who had pre-recorded instructions from Destiny on how to resurrect her. They were lured into a trap by Mr. Sinister, who took over Sabretooth, X-23, and Deathstrike. Shogun recited the Erase words, but Mystique used an ultrasound emitter to prevent Creed from hearing the word, leading him to murder their teammate, Junk. The Wolverines became Mystique’s prisoners as she drained their healing factors to power a portal meant to bring back Destiny. However, Destiny’s plan was a lie, and the lovers did not reunite.
As the mutant race faced a new threat from the Terrigen mist, Sabretooth found himself kicked out of Avengers Mansion and joined Magneto’s X-Men to protect mutantkind. Alongside Psylocke, Archangel, and Monet St. Croix, Sabretooth helped defend mutants from the Dark Riders and the Someday Corporation. The team moved to War Room X in the Savage Land after blowing up their base on Genosha.
Sabretooth faced a moral quandary when Deadpool came after him for the murder of his parents. Victor decided to own the kills to spare Wade the pain of knowing the truth. However, Deadpool’s plans for killing someone with a healing factor were thorough. Eventually, Wade recognized the truth, and they parted on neutral terms.
Sabretooth accompanied Monet to Manhattan following an anonymous tip about mutants in danger. They discovered Callisto, who revealed that Emplate was feeding on the mutant population of the Alley. Emplate bonded with Monet, sharing his hunger, and Sabretooth helped her manage Emplate’s influence by offering himself as occasional nourishment.
Creed’s animal instincts began to hamper his redemption arc. He struggled with his primal urges and losing control while hunting in the Savage Land. When the X-Men and Inhumans went to war, Monet gave in to Emplate’s hunger and hunted stray Inhumans. Instead of helping her cope, Creed covered for her kills. Torn between his artificial moral compass and animal instincts, Sabretooth abandoned the X-Men after the war, parting ways with Monet soon after.
Sabretooth's personality continued to regress to his old ways, but a sliver of morality remained. A young girl attacked him with cybernetic knives, and he retreated into the wilderness, where he was found by Old Man Logan, a future version of Wolverine. They joined forces to uncover who was hunting them. A new Weapon X Program was hunting mutants, using their genetic samples to create cybernetic hunter-killers. Creed and Logan discovered Lady Deathstrike and Warpath were prisoners, and they contacted Domino and Amadeus Cho. They tracked down Reverend William Stryker's facility, where Doctor Alba released two enhanced subjects, H-Beta and H-Alpha. Cho refused to work with killers, but the others remained together to hunt Stryker, Alba, and H-Alpha, christening their new team Weapon X.
Weapon H-Alpha was a former soldier trying to shake off Stryker's brainwashing. Logan and Warpath wanted to talk things out, but Sabretooth thought Weapon H was too dangerous to roam free. The team disposed of Stryker, captured Alba, and let Weapon H go free. On shore leave, Creed joined Iron Fist in hunting down a new Constrictor, Frank's illegitimate son. Creed prioritized getting the kid to the hospital over fighting.
Weapon X remained together despite personality conflicts, becoming an officially sanctioned team for the X-Men. They discovered super-soldiers based on Weapon VII (Nuke) were hunting mutants in Santo Marco. Creed freed the real Nuke from prison and pushed Weapon X to use Nuke's amphetamine pills. They eventually got Nuke back on track with his original mission to assassinate Santo Marco's anti-mutant dictator.
Creed's obsession with Wolverine persisted. When Lady Deathstrike learned Logan's tomb was empty, she recruited Sabretooth and Daken to investigate. They encountered Soteira, a group conducting experiments that revived people as zombies. Creed saw his son Graydon among Soteira's kill team. The device's radiation hindered their healing factors, forcing them to abandon Daken. Creed later picked a fight with Old Man Logan on his birthday, still fixated on proving Logan was no better than him.
As Old Man Logan’s age caught up with him, he chose to pass on leadership of Weapon X to Sabretooth, despite Warpath's objections. Sent after S.I.C.K.L.E., a Russian agency rounding up mutants, they discovered Omega Red among the captives. Sabretooth used Warpath and Domino as bait but was captured by Omega Red. Sabretooth realized Omega Red was being controlled by nanotech, and together they defeated Vasily Rossovich, the head of S.I.C.K.L.E., freeing Omega Red. Warpath left, while Sabretooth intended to build their reputation as mercenaries.
Sabretooth, Omega Red, Mystique, Domino, and Lady Deathstrike formed Weapon X-Force. Their first mission was to bring Monet safely home, but it turned out to be a trap set by William Stryker. With Deadpool's help, Sabretooth's team killed Stryker, though he was destined to return from Hell. To stop Stryker from returning, Weapon X-Force made a deal with Azazel to access the netherworld. There, Sabretooth confronted his sins and his son Graydon, who begged for release. Sabretooth and his team fought to stop Stryker’s return, and Victor sacrificed himself for Graydon to be successfully reincarnated.
The Devil found Victor's noble sacrifice unpalatable and returned him to life, feral and mindless, releasing him into the wilds of Saskatchewan.
Sabretooth's human mind recovered, but any signs of his inversion were gone. During the War of the Realms, he established himself as leader of wolves from the Wild Hunt and captured Magik, hoping to offer her teleporting abilities to Malekith. However, he was tricked into sending his army through a portal to Limbo, losing an advantage for Malekith. Sabretooth had his throat ripped out by Wolfsbane and was decapitated by Magik, leaving him apparently dead.
A new age dawned for mutantkind with the establishment of a mutant nation-state on Krakoa. Founded by Xavier and Magneto, Krakoa offered innovations like Krakoan gates and drugs, securing amnesty for all mutant citizens. A mutant circuit allowed for the resurrection of any mutant who died recently. Unfortunately, someone decided to resurrect Victor Creed and introduce Sabretooth into the new utopia.
Magneto instructed Sabretooth, Mystique, and Toad to retrieve information from Damage Control in New York. Sabretooth broke cover and killed guards, catching the attention of the Fantastic Four. Mystique and Toad escaped, but Sabretooth was captured. Cyclops intervened, reminding the Fantastic Four of "amnesty" and promising to retrieve Victor through other means.
Sabretooth was being sentenced to indefinite prison time at the Department of State's supermax prison Achilles when the White Queen secured immunity and amnesty for him. Mutants would no longer be judged by human courts, allowing Sabretooth, a twelve-time convicted felon, to walk free.
Sabretooth was brought back to Krakoa, where his fate was the first order of business for the Quiet Council, Krakoa’s ruling government. Comprised of Xavier, Magneto, Frost, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Sinister, Apocalypse, and Mystique, the council enacted three foundational laws: Make More Mutants, Respect This Sacred Land, and Kill No Human. Sabretooth violated the last law by killing guards. Despite his threats, Frost and Grey silenced him telepathically. Magneto confirmed that Creed disobeyed strict instructions not to kill anyone, leading the council to sentence Sabretooth to the Pit of Exile, held in stasis beneath Krakoa, unable to move or act. Sabretooth dwelled in the Pit for months, living out scenarios in his mind while unaware of his true surroundings. Although the Quiet Council denied his parole, Krakoa and Cypher thought the sentence was too harsh. They reached out to Sabretooth mentally, offering him the ability to shape and control the psychic environment of the Pit. Sabretooth accepted, creating his own empire within the Pit. He became the Lord of Hell inside the Pit, dominating his mind from his throne. Eventually, more prisoners arrived. Sabretooth's mind was strong and integrated into Krakoa, allowing him to control the new prisoners' perceptions. He bullied them but then preached about Krakoa's injustices, trying to convince them to join his escape plan.
Creed manipulated the prisoners to spread word of Krakoa's unjust prison, intending to destroy Xavier's reputation. He got Cypher to renegotiate their deal in exchange for his freedom. Creed stole a boat and left Krakoa, abandoning his former followers. Cypher then paroled the other prisoners and sent them to deal with Sabretooth.
Sabretooth was captured by the Orchis Corporation. Doctor Barrington implanted a Barrington Coil in Sabretooth, weakening his abilities. The Exiles caught up with Sabretooth and Orchis, causing chaos. Out of desperation, Sabretooth joined the Exiles.
The Exiles didn't trust Sabretooth, but accepted his help. They rescued nearly a thousand mutants, and another prisoner who appeared to be a dead version of Victor Creed. Barrington fled to the next Orchis station. When the Exiles were occupied, Sabretooth was taken to the orbital Orchis station, where his son Graydon waited.
Graydon decided to make himself the very last Creed, and began hunting Sabretooths throughout the multiverse. Victor survived thanks to three other Sabretooths who helped him remove the Barrington Coil. Together, they fought Graydon's slaves, and Graydon fell through a multiversal portal. Sabretooth and the Sabretooths claimed control of Orchis Station Five to pilot it back towards Krakow to ambush Wolverine for one last showdown.
Sabretooth traveled the Multiverse, recruiting "Camo," a version of Sabretooth who can transform into others. Along with other variants like "Cap," "Savage," and "Pretty Boy," and an army of headless Sabretooth cyborgs, they arrived on Krakoa to enact revenge on the Quiet Council but found it empty. They were detected by Black Tom Cassidy, and Kid Omega was sent to investigate. Disguised as Wolverine, Camo stabbed Kid Omega in the neck, and Sabretooth and his variants cannibalized his body. Using Kid Omega's telepathic energy, they tracked down Wolverine, putting Black Tom and Sage in a trance.
Sabretooth killed Akihiro, taunting Wolverine with pieces of Akihiro's corpse. Wolverine attacked in a berserk rage, but was defeated. Sabretooth massacred many inhabitants of the arctic base until Black Tom and Sage activated the base's defense mechanisms, forcing Sabretooth to flee with Savage, Camo, and the remnants of his army. The Sabretooths managed to abduct Wolverine's daughter, Laura. Sabretooth used Kid Omega's powers to read Wolverine's mind and discovered a hidden treasure map. Meanwhile, Savage and Camo plotted against Sabretooth, and Kid Omega sent a telepathic distress signal to aid the Exiles.
X-Force interrogated Cap, they soon uncovered some of Sabretooth's plans. Wolverine went to confront Sabretooth alone. Sabretooth immobilized Wolverine with a telepathic blast and forced him to help fight off the Exiles. Sabretooth killed Toad, and Wolverine killed Melter, snapping out of his hypnosis. Sabretooth stated that he needed Wolverine to acquire Forge's Neutralizer, used to weaken Wolverine.
Even though he could no longer heal, Wolverine fought back. Sabretooth used a psionic gun to shoot Wolverine in the head. Kid Omega, out of revenge, shot Sabretooth with a psychic blast, while Nekra used the Killing Seed to devour Sabretooth. The Exiles tended to Wolverine's wounds, while Kid Omega stood guard over Sabretooth.
Inside the Killing Seed, Sabretooth experienced the deaths of his victims from their perspectives but rejected Cypher's attempts to rehabilitate him. Sabretooth's army was decimated, with Laura killing Savage and Graydon betraying and killing Camo. Sabretooth killed Graydon, clawing his chest open, before finally facing off with Wolverine. Wolverine, with restored powers, challenged Sabretooth to a final showdown, ultimately killing and shredding Sabretooth to pieces with his claws and the Muramasa Blade, avenging his loved ones.

Sabretooth also made appearances in some X-Men video games. He's the final boss in X-Men III the Official Game, a boss in X2 : Wolverine's Revenge, X-Men Legends and X-Men Origin: Wolverine and a playable character in X-Men Legends II : Rise of Apocalypse.
Outside of the X-Men games, Sabretooth also appears as a major antagonist, such as Lego Marvel Super Heroes and Marvel's Midnight Suns.
Powers and Abilities[]
Sabretooth is an excellent hand to hand combatant, having been trained by various organizations such as the CIA, Weapon X, the Foreigner, and HYDRA. He is also an expert hunter and tracker, even without the use of his heightened senses. Sabretooth also has developed a high resistance to telepathic probing and manipulation when his brain was sewed. Although his extreme arrogance gives him the appearance of stupidity, he is actually quite intelligent. He routinely hacks into government databases to steal classified information and has escaped the highest levels of incarceration.
- Superhuman Strength: Sabretooth possessed superhuman strength that has been artificially augmented on a number of occasions over the years. Initially, he possessed sufficient strength to lift slightly above 800 lbs for brief amounts of time , slightly greater than the maximum amount an ordinary human is capable of lifting. However, after being captured and augmented the first time by his son, Graydon Creed, his strength was increased to the point where he could lift about 2 tons. He also underwent various augmentation procedures at the hands of the latest incarnation of the Weapon X Program, including some to both his strength and healing factor. While the full limits of his strength it is said he can lift anywhere between 2 to 10 tons.
- Superhuman Agility: Sabretooth's agility, balance, and bodily coordination were enhanced to levels beyond the human body's natural limits, even those of the finest human athlete.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Sabretooth's reflexes were similarly enhanced and were superior to those of the finest human athlete.
- Superhumanly Acute Senses: Sabretooth's feral mutation provided him superhumanly acute senses. Sabretooth could see with greater clarity and greater distances than an ordinary human. His vision extended into the ultraviolet and infrared areas of the electromagnetic spectrum, allowing him to see in near-total darkness and retain the same level of clarity. Sabretooth's hearing was similarly enhanced, able to detect sounds that ordinary human's can't and at greater distances. For example, he could detect the sound of light, normal breathing within a distance of 200 feet. Sabretooth also possessed an extremely well developed sense of smell. Sabretooth could recognize or track targets by scent, much the same way as a dog or wolf does. His nose could detect minute chemical differences in the scents of different deodorant brands, even if they were purported to be exactly the same scent.
- Regenerative Healing Factor: Sabretooth's primary mutant power was an accelerated healing process that enabled him to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of his anatomy with far greater efficiency than an ordinary human. Originally, the speed of Sabretooth's healing factor's was in proportion to the wound's severity; for example, he could fully recover from an ordinary gunshot wounds within couple minutes or injuries as severe as a broken back and severed spine within days. However, Sabretooth's healing ability was increased in recent years due to various augmentation procedures. Sabretooth could fully heal from injuries that result in massive tissue damage or loss such as multiple gunshot wounds, slashes, puncture wounds, blunt force trauma, and severe burns within a couple of moments . It even be said that his healing factor rival or even better than Wolverine's even those could be debatable due Wolverine having more impressive feats.
- Foreign Chemical Immunity: Sabretooth's natural healing also afforded him the virtual immunity to poisons and most drugs. It was virtually impossible for him to become intoxicated.
- Immunity To Diseases: Sabretooth's healing powers also extended to his highly efficient immune system. As a result, he was immune to the effects of all known Earthly diseases and infections.
- Weather Insulated Adaptation: Sabretooth was able to withstand incredibly cold temperatures without sustaining bodily damage for great periods of time, even to the point of being nude in sub-zero temperatures.
- Extended Longevity: In addition, Sabretooth's healing factor provided him with an extended lifespan by halting his aging once he reached his physical prime. Despite being of an, unknown, advanced age, Sabretooth retained the appearance, vitality, and virility of a man in his physical prime.
- Superhuman Stamina: Sabretooth's advanced musculature produced considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than an ordinary human, due in large part to the effects of his mutant healing factor. Before receiving various upgrades to his powers, Sabretooth could physically exert himself at peak capacity for several hours before the build up of fatigue toxins began to impair him. After the upgrades, his stamina was increased to the point where he could exert himself at peak capacity for at least twenty-four hours.
- Claws and Fangs: Sabretooth has retractable talons in place of fingernails. The claws are naturally sharp and tougher than that of normal human bone structure, allowing Sabretooth to cut through most types of flesh and natural materials. Sabretooth's ability to slice completely through a substance depends on the thickness of the substance and the amount of force he can exert.

Trivia[]
- Despite being most famous for being Wolverine's archenemy, Sabretooth actually made his debut in Iron Fist #14, depicted as a human mercenary and serial killer who became a recurring antagonist of the titular hero. He would not be established as a mutant until his appearance in the Mutant Massacre crossover event, where he would face off with Wolverine for the first time.
- Sabretooth originally had no healing factor, having scratched his own face during his first confrontation with Spider-Man in the comics and having not healed instantly and remained injured throughout. Even after his mutant powers were established, no explanation was ever given for the fluctuation of his healing factor at the time.
