Sadie Adler is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Charles Smith) of the 2018 action-adventure game Red Dead Redemption II, and a supporting character of the 2019 spin off Red Dead Online.
Initially a housewife and rancher, she becomes an Outlaw and dedicates her life towards eradicating the O'Driscoll Gang after witnessing the brutal murder of her husband at their hands. She falls in with Dutch van der Linde's Gang and becomes a dangerous outlaw, determined to get her vengeance.
She was voiced by Alex McKenna.
Biography[]
A rancher, Sadie lived with her husband Jake in a cabin in Ambarino. One tragic day, however, the O'Driscoll Boys raided the cabin and murdered Jake. They kept Sadie prisoner in the basement and are implied to have raped her, while they used her cabin as their hideout.
The O'Driscolls were killed by Dutch van der Linde, Arthur Morgan and Micah Bell, who proceed to raid the house. While Arthur and Dutch checked the stables, Micah found Sadie and mistook her for an associate of the O'Driscolls. In their struggle, Micah accidentally ended up burning down the cabin. Dutch calmed her down and let her stay with his gang. With no family to return to, Sadie decided to remain with the gang as they travelled from campsite to campsite.
At Clemens Point, Sadie had a fight with the camp cook, Simon Pearson, over her being dissatisfied with her chores. Annoyed, Arthur took Sadie out shopping in the local town, Rhodes. On the way back, they were accosted by a local gang known as the Lemoyne Raiders. Sadie fired at them and she and Arthur fought them off. Later, at the campsite at Shady Belle, O'Driscolls attack. Accidentally abandoned by the gang, Sadie fights off the O'Driscolls.
When Arthur, Dutch, Javier Escuella, Bill Williamson and Micah go missing and John Marston is arrested, Sadie assumes leadership of the gang and decisively relocates to Lakay. When the men (excluding the still imprisoned John) return, Pinkerton detectives ambush the gang, but are fought off. The gang then relocates to Beaver Hollow. From then onwards, due to the deaths of the gang's combatants and Sadie's skills coming to light, Sadie becomes an active combatant in the gang.
Arthur and Sadie later free John from prison, angering Dutch with their insubordination. When Colm O'Driscoll is captured, Arthur, Dutch and Sadie attend his execution. With Arthur's help, she may also raid an O'Driscoll compound and kill the last of the O'Driscolls. Sadie then participates in a raid on an oil refinery and on a train heist carrying US Army payroll. When John's lover, Abigail Roberts, is kidnapped, she and Arthur team up to rescue her. Arthur and Sadie learn that Micah had been serving as an informant to the Pinkerton Detective Agency. Sadie leaves with Abigail while Arthur confronts Micah and the rest of the gang. The rest of the gang turn on Arthur and John and Arthur is killed while John escapes.
Years later, Sadie found honest work as a bounty hunter. Reuniting with John, she recruits him to help her on several of her bounties. She, Charles Smith and John later track down Micah's old associate Cleet and interrogate him for Micah's location. Either she or John kill Cleet before storming Micah's gang hideout, but she and Charles are both wounded. Sadie still manages to make her way to Micah's cabin, but is held hostage by Micah before John and Dutch kill him. Sadie later attends John and Abigail's wedding. She later bids farewell to Charles after he decides to leave.
After recovering, she bids farewell to the Marston family and Uncle. What happens to Sadie later is unknown. She claims that she planned to move to South America.
As the Pinkertons never attempt to make John track down and kill or capture Sadie, it appears that her role in the gang was never discovered, though it could also mean she's dead or has long fled the country.
