~ Saito ready to kill Saejima for trying to escape.
Hmph. Step aside, pal. Or who knows? We might just "accidentally" beat you to death.
~ Saito threatening Kazuma Kiryu.

Saito (斉藤 Saitō) is a minor antagonist of Yakuza 4, serving as a supporting antagonist of Saejima's arc and a minor antagonist of Kiryu's arc.

His voice actor is Masato Obara.

Appearance[]

Saito wears the standard uniform for Okinawa Penitentiary No. 2, that being a blue suit with a blue tie and white undershirt with a matching blue hat and black shoes.

Saito appears to be middle-aged from his facial features with him having a notable scar that runs diagonally down his right cheek.

Biography[]

Saejima's Story[]

Saito is the head security guard at Okinawa Penitentiary No. 2, a secret prison that is hidden from the public and is used to keep dangerous Yakuza thugs before having them "mysteriously" die of "natural causes".

Very little of Saito's past is known (including his full name). What is known is that he has a hobby of beating inmates with this leading to the deaths of two inmates.

When Taiga Saejima appears and gets into a fight on his first day, Saito has Saejima taken away and beats him up with both his fists and his baton. Saito was ready to kill Saejima until another officer tells him to stop, having been bribed by Goh Hamazaki so he and Saejima can talk. Saito walks out of the room in anger, not seeing why he shouldn't be allowed to kill criminals that no one would miss.

Later, at night, Saejima would break out of his cell and make enough of a commotion that Saito and some more guards would arrive with Saito saying that he was going to kill Saejima right then and there, however, Saejima would beat them down and continue his escape. Despite being beaten, Saito would repeatedly get back up to fight Saejima again and again until Saejima knocked him out while in the prison courtyard.

Just when Saejima and Hamazaki would about to escape, Saito would pull out a gun and shot Hamazaki in the chest three times while on the wall of the prison. After Hamazaki told Saejima to find a man named Kazuma Kiryu, he would run up and grab Saito and dives off of the wall while holding Saito, intending to kill them both to protect Saejima.

In the end, both Saito and Hamazaki would survive the fall.

Kiryu's Story[]

Under orders of the warden, Saito would be ordered to find Taiga Saejima's sister who was reported at being last seen at Okinawa.

Saito and his men would track her down to Tetsuo Tamashiro's old office. When he arrived, he cornered Hamazaki, Kiryu and Yasuko Saejima. Initially, the three believed he was after Hamazaki who was willing to give himself up if Saito left Yasuko and Kiryu alone but Saito said he came for Yasuko but was willing to take Hamazaki back to prison so he can beat him up.

Kiryu stepped forward to protect the two with Saito threatening to kill him. In the end, Kiryu would end up beating them all up while escaping with Yasuko, however, Hamazaki's wounds would open up, leading him to be taken to the hospital where he would die from his injuries.

After this point, Saito is never seen or heard from again.
