Saizo Kano (Japanese: 叶才三, Kanō Saizō), nicknamed "Mister Masterplan" in the manga and "The Shadow Man" in the anime, is an overarching antagonist of "The Twenty Year Old Murderous Intent: The Symphony Serial Murder Case".

Past

Saizo Kano was a robber known for his perfect planning and execution, and whose crimes harmed no one. According to Kogoro, Kano was constantly changing his partners in crime. However, nothing has been heard of since Kano's planned 400 million yen robbery, which took place about 20 years before the main conspiracy began and in which bank employee Yoshimi Samezaki, Inspector Samezaki's daughter, was killed. After this attack, he originally wanted to turn himself in to the police because he was plagued by guilt. To prevent this, another gang member involved in the robbery, Korehisa Kanie, shot him with four bullets. He then fell into the sea.

Present day

Since the robbery is about to end at the time of the main plot, Saizo Kano is said to have taken a ship to his former cronies and divided the money among them. Since the cruise in question is the prize for a dolphin-watching contest in Ogasawara, Conan, Kogoro, Ran, Heiji and Inspector Samezaki are also present. Inspector Samezaki doubts Kano's death. He believes that Kano is not the type to die easily and believes that the bloody jacket that washed up on the beach was a ploy by Kano to fool the police. Samezaki's plan was to get to his accomplices through Kano in order to get the stolen money back. However, it is later revealed that he actually died in the 400 million yen heist, although this is not 100% proven.

It's also revealed that Nagisa Isogai is his daughter and was there to find her beloved father.
