Sal Avelino is the main antagonist of the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Contact". He is a sexual predator who rapes several women on the subway, impregnating at least one of his victims.
He was portrayed by Sal Viscuso.
Biography[]
Avelino raped several women on the subway, preferring women who wore dresses. He would force them to submit by holding a box cutter to their throat.
Contact[]
While investigating a series of subway rapes, Detectives Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler of the NYPD's Special Victims Unit arrest Avelino. They order him to give his DNA with him realizing he might have gotten one of his victims pregnant.
His DNA is a match to the fetus, and he is arrested for rape. As he protests, he spots Sidra Lonstein and recognized her and seeing her pregnant belly he confesses to her and SVU of the rape, stating he had knew something good would come from the rape. Sal tells her when he gets out that they will be a family, while rejoicing at being an expecting parent but Sidra breaks down after recalling her rape.
He is subsequently imprisoned for the rape spree.
