Sallie May is a supporting character in the adult animated web series Helluva Boss, a spinoff series set in the same universe as Hazbin Hotel.
She's an imp from the Wrath Ring, one of the many children of farmers Lin and Joe and Millie's younger sister. Sally May helps her parents at the family farm and, like Millie, is a homicidal maniac but is good enough at hiding the bodies to not get in trouble and still be able to compete in the town's annual Harvest Moon Festival as a player in the Pain Games.
She is voiced by Morgana Ignis, who also provided the sounds for the Fish Monster in the same show, and also voices Naki Kito in Dandadan.
Appearance[]
Sallie May is a tall and humanoid transgender female Imp demon with slim rectangle body figure, roughly the same height as Blitzo, with light maroon skin and a pair of serrated, black-and-white-striped horns atop her head. Her eyes sported yellow sclera, slit-like pupils, and long eyelashes protruding from them, with a single white scar over her eye and notched eyebrow.
Her long calf-length black-charcoal hair is long and voluminous, and it is usually seen tied back into a high ponytail with messy bangs that cover her left eye, which includes a single white splotch at the roots. Presumably, her ponytail is held by a red bandana with two holes tied around the back of her head.
Her attire consists of a sleeveless, black turtleneck crop top with various tears in the team, ripped black leggings under a set of gray-beige short-shorts held by a black belt with an oval-shaped dark gray buckle, and white cowboy ankle boots.
After going shopping with her older sister, she changes to a long-sleeve black turtleneck crop top with a cleavage window and a dark burgundy high-waist plaid skirt while keeping her ripped black leggings and wears pastel red calf-length cowboy boots, she also lets her hair down.
She doesn't seem to be very hygienic; Millie claims she smells like "hog ass", though seeing as Sallie May lives on a farm where her family raises demonic swine and animals, that's hardly a surprise.
Personality[]
Sallie May is a very snarky and blunt individual, taking pleasure in annoying her siblings, especially Millie, and even in-laws, such as Moxxie, whom she mocks over how he'll never win his parents-in-law's respect.
Having been raised to live the tough farmhand life, she seems to be as energetic and action-loving as her siblings, being a regular contestant in the Pain Games, which are shown in the episode to be absolutely brutal. However, much like Millie, with her thrill-seeking, comes a violent thirst for blood, as she's implied to be a serial killer. Unlike the barbaric Millie, however, Sallie May never faced any trouble for her murders, as she was covert enough to hide the bodies and never let her crimes come to light. Her laid-back, albeit sardonic, way of speaking suggests she is much more collected than Millie.
Despite how rude she can be towards them, she seems to have a good enough relationship with her family, as Lin and Joe clearly love her as much as the rest of their children, even accepting her gender Identity. She seems to be on good enough terms with her siblings, for some of them even to assist her in her crimes.
She is also shown to care deeply for her sister as she goes to visit her in Pride where she spends time with her. At the same time, she admits that she misses spending time with her, showing how lonely she can get without her.
Biography[]
Sallie May is a transgender female imp demon native to the Ring of Wrath. It is implied in "Harvest Moon Festival" that there is some tension between her and her sister, Millie-mostly due to the fact that she can compete in the pain games despite having a body count possibly as high as Millie's. Her means of getting away with this involves hiding the bodies where no one can find them. When Millie tries to encourage her husband, Moxxie, as he enters the Pain Games, Sallie May remarks that Millie's parents will never accept him and even bets on him dying.
During the events of "Hell's Belles", Sallie May visits her sister, Millie, in the Pride Ring to spend the day together. They go to the spa, spend some time shopping, and even burn down Wally Wackford's arcade. As they dance at a bar, Millie and Sallie may both brutally murder a male demon who is hitting on them. As Sallie May and Millie have a talk on top of a building, Sallie May expresses how she feels she does not fit into Millie's new way of life, as well as how she misses her and the time they've spent together. Millie apologizes for not coming over to Wrath nearly as much, promises to try harder, and reminds her sister of how she can always visit more as well. Sallie May happily agrees, and the two of them engage in a playful, albeit violent fight. Later, they watch a. movie together at Millie's apartment. At the same time, Moxxie comes home and is happy to see them together.
Towards the end of "Sinsmas," Millie comes to the realization that she is pregnant and calls her sister for support. Sallie May picks up the phone as she and her family are watching TV together. Once Millie asks if she is alone, Sallie leaves the room to go outside and talk to her. Millie then breaks down in tears over her realization that she is pregnant.

Trivia[]
- The small patch of white on Sallie May's mostly black hair suggests her hair may be dyed. This would make sense, as (with the exception of one of the workers at Loo Loo Land and Striker, who has black facial hair) all male imps have white hair, while females have black hair. Since she is a male-to-female transgender, Sallie May was probably born with white hair but dyed it black after her transition.
- In a Twitter post, Morgana Ignis confirmed Sallie May is a transgender woman.
- Sallie May is the only one of Millie's siblings with a confirmed name.
- According to Morgana Ignis, "Sallie May" is the character's full first name.
- According to Morgana Ignis, Sallie May being transgender was always the plan, even way before they began designs. Ignis also explains that because Millie's sister was planned to be trans, Vivziepop definitely wanted a transgender actress and had Ignis in mind for her, with voicing Sallie May being a direct offer from Vivziepop.
- In an Instagram post, Morgana confirmed that Sallie May's lesbian sexuality will be confirmed in the show.
- Like Sallie May, her voice actress, Morgana Ignis is also a lesbian transgender woman.
- According to Sterling Richter, Ignis requested that Sallie May have a visible bulge in the sexually-oriented parts of merchandise because many transgender females don't tuck all the time, but the original merchandise designs were more cisgender in sex appeal.
