History[]
Sally Marnes is the sheriff of a small mountain town, and she was shown early in the film running off a group of bikers (led by a man named Red) who were harassing protagonists Brea and John - a couple on vacation. However, it was later revealed that the bikers were part of a human trafficking ring and they had kidnapped Malia (a friend of Brea and John's), while also killing Malia's boyfriend, Darren, as well as John. Brea managed to call police, and it was at that moment that Marnes appeared with Deputy Lowe.
Marnes held the group at gunpoint and appeared to tend to Brea, but all of a sudden, Marnes turned heel by shooting Lowe to death, revealing herself as the true mastermind of the trafficking ring. She scolded her cohorts for fooling around with their victims and reminded them of Brea's occupation as a journalist before ordering them to take Brea. Meanwhile, the evil Marnes fired two shots into the air, and reported Lowe's murder, pinning it on Brea and John.
The film's climax saw Brea escape and reach a convenience store, where the clerk phoned police, setting up a confrontation between Marnes and Brea. Brea blasted the corrupt villainess for her actions, only of Marnes to defend her crimes by stating that everything is trafficked, before she held Brea at gunpoint and attempted to arrest her. As the women left the store, however, Marnes was shocked to see police waiting for her, as Brea had called them about her and her trafficking ring. Marnes was later handcuffed and arrested for her crimes.
