The Saltwater trees, are the main antagonists of the SpongeBob SquarePants episode “Arbor Day Disarray”. They are a group of mischievous saltwater trees who love causing trouble.
Biography[]
SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Sandy, and Mrs. Puff eat pancakes outside of Sandy's treedome. Sandy tells the others that maple syrup comes from trees as she prepares for Arbor Day. Sandy shows the others special acorns that she made, that will allow for the growth of Saltwater Trees, and gives them trees to grow. She also tells everyone that talking to the trees will help them grow.
Everyone is shown using the trees for various purposes. SpongeBob is the first one to find out about his tree, who he names Barky, insulting him while he reads it a bedtime story. SpongeBob calls Sandy about Barky, where Sandy questions about the tree's ability to talk, until Barky answers the phone, and rudely talks about SpongeBob in the process. Sandy is excited about the tree talking and rushes to SpongeBob's house. Barky then asks to be taken outside.
SpongeBob and Sandy take Barky through the town, where it complains about the climate. Everyone else's trees are shown, with Mrs. Puff's tree driving out of control, Mr. Krabs' tree insulting the Krusty Krab's customers, Squidward's tree criticizing his musical abilities, and Patrick's tree questioning his taste in television.
Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and Mrs. Puff throw away their trees, however, several new trees grow afterwards and cause havok in Bikini Bottom. Squidward, Mr. Krabs, Mrs. Puff, and the other Bikini Bottomites approach Sandy to complain about the tree. Squidward suggests to have them burned, which SpongeBob disapproves of. Sandy devises a plan, with SpongeBob being shown advertising a "Log-a-palooza" to the trees.
The trees attend the extravaganza, where Sandy reveals her new makeover machine. Patrick's tree tries out the machine and it's revealed that it turns trees into chairs. The other trees initially try to run away in panic, however, Patrick's tree claim s to like being a chair. The other trees go into the machine, which causes them to be turned into furniture. The Bikini Bottomites are shown enjoying the furniture, however, Sandy decides to slip Arbor Day for the following year after two chair s ness with her and SpongeBob.
