Pim: So I guess that mean's they're all innocent. Salty technically died from a heart attack.
Charlie: I mean all these characters are definitely psychopaths, but I guess none of them killed him.
Ketchup: That means legally we can all go free! Yay!
~ Pim and Charlie finding out that none of the mascots technically murdered Salty.

Salty's Mascots are the main antagonists of the Smiling Friends episode "Who Violently Murdered Simon S. Salty?".

They are a group of mascots that once worked for Simon S. Salty's fast-food restaurant before he passed away.

Ketchup is voiced by series' co-creator Michael Cusack, who also voices Grim, James, Rex, Mr. Frog, Bosnian Homer, Witch Hand, Plump Demon, Jeremy, and the Skeleton Pirate Captain in the same series. Salt and Pepper are voiced by series' co-creator Zachary Hadel, who also voices DJ Spit, Satan, Jason, Mip, Gnarly, Mr. Peanut, and Mr. Landlord in the same series. Mustard is voided by Erica Lindbeck, Crazy Cup is voiced by Mick Lauer, and Grease is voiced by Harry Partridge.

Members[]

Homicidal Members[]

Ketchup - Ketchup is a humanoid ketchup-packet with ketchup inside of its innards. He's overdramatic and very sensitive about Salty's menu, going so far as to kill him over the thought of it changing and abandoning unhealthy food. Ketchup was terrible at hiding how nervous he was over the murder, always having visible sweat across his forehead and stuttering.

Mustard - Mustard appears to be a humanoid mustard packet with heals. She is very seductive, instantly coming onto Charlie and confessing to having an affair with Salty. Like the other mascots, she had homicidal tendencies, attempting to murder Salty with a knife, as she thought it would be easier than to break his heart.

Salt & Pepper - Salt and Pepper are clumps of salt and pepper with faces and small legs. They are in charge of refilling the soda-machine. Salt and Pepper's main personality trait is that the two of them are very in love with each other, often sneaking off into the closet to kiss each other. They feel so strongly about each other that they were willing to use the soda machine to suck out Salty's insides just because he didn't approve of them kissing on the job.

Crazy Cup - Crazy Cup first appears to be a cup with a pink straw and two humanoid feet wearing shoes. However, the cup itself is revealed to be a shirt, and underneath it is a humanoid chest with an extended neck that leads to his head. He often has to wash his costume because he has a medical condition that gives him constant diarrhea. Despite having "Crazy" in his name, Crazy Cup is very laid-back, talking in a very monotone voice. Like the other Mascots, he is homicidal, and attempted to kill Simon S. Salty for some unknown reason, saying only, "Alright, you got me" without explanation.

The Fun Twins - The Fun Twins appear to be eyeballs with arms and legs, one pink and one blue. Both of them wear white gloves and brown shoes. The twins are very hyperactive, constantly bouncing around the room and hanging around the play-area while screaming. When telling stories, they depict children drawings that flash by very quickly. The stories depicted in these have no coherence, and they speak in a chaotic gibberish language. They were shown to be homicidal like the other Mascots, having attempted to kill Salty S. Simon by stabbing him before anyone else had.

Neutral Members[]

Grease - Grease is a puddle of grease on the floor with a face on it. Unlike the other mascots, Grease does not appear to have homicidal tendencies, and instead just wants to be included, wanting others to recognize that he could've been the culprit even though he didn't kill Salty. Ironically, however, Salty died from a greasy burger.

Century Egg - The Century Egg appears to be an old potato-looking egg with stem arms and legs. He has big red eyes, black skin, a large mouth and thin limbs. The Century Egg appeared to have all the knowledge of what went on in the restaurant, having access to all of the security camera footage. He claimed to be have been chained-up in Salty's basement because he didn't sell well enough. His last wish was to be buried in China, which he was, making him the only member of the group to be dead.

Biography[]

After finishing a movie, Charlie suggested that he and Pim go to Salty's for dinner. After arriving, they were introduced to Ketchup, who informed Charlie that the meal he requested was discontinued. Charlie demanded that he speak to Salty, and despite Ketchups protests, Charlie went into the backroom to find Salty dead. Charlie then called the police, where he found out that he and Pim would be in charge of the homicide investigation unit.

Charlie locked the door and told all of the Mascots that no one was going to leave until they found out who murdered Salty. Before they did, Grease said they he could have done it, but when asked he said he didn't. The two proceeded to interview every mascot individually. They began with Ketchup, where he admitted that he and Salty were fighting over the menu changing. He then broke into tears insisting that he didn't do it. Pim assured Ketchup that he and Charlie would find whoever did it and the he moved on. Charlie then interviewed Salt and Pepper, where they told him about how they were kissing in the closet and how Salty told them to refill the soda machine. Pim next interviewed Crazy Cup, where he explained that he spent the day trying to get a stain out of his cup-shirt. The next interview was with Charlie and Mustard, where Mustard at first denied the accusation, but then confessed to being in a love-affair with Salty. She then attempted to seduce Charlie, before Pim walked in so that he could get Charlie's help to interview the twins. They met the twins in the play area, and when they tried asking them what happened they were met with incoherent nonsense. One of the twins then spat acid on Pim's arm, and the both of them ran off.

Charlie and Pim began going over the case by themselves, all the while Pim was looking for something to make his acid-soaked arm feel better. Pim then accidentally discovered the entrance to a basement underneath the restaurant, where they discovered the Century Egg. The Century Egg revealed his backstory to them and said that he could provide them with the store's security footage if the two promised to bury him in China. They agreed, and the Century Egg showed them which drawer the tape was in.

The two proceeded to bring the tape upstairs, where they found out one by one each of the mascots tried to murder Salty. After rewinding the entire tape, they discovered that Salty actually suffered a heart attack. The mascots rejoiced because they believed that they could go free, and so they proceeded to break open the locked door. They then went on a rampage in front of the store while Charlie and Pim laughed together.

Trivia[]

  • Ketchup revealed that Salty was his godfather to his children, though he may have lied to appear more innocent.
  • All of Salty's Mascots are humanoid fast-food items, except for the Fun Twins.
  • It's possible that the Fun Twins might be residents from the nation of Spamtopia, featured in Episode 5 of Season 2. This would explain why Pim was able to understand them, as he knows how to speak Spamish.
  • Century Egg is the only individual of the group that is dead.
