“ | Samael: This place.. is but one home of the Starkindred, those who seek worship and understanding of the Celestials. When our Celestial's cocoon arrived in the Rotlands below, we brought it to safety. We nurtured it. We protected it. We imbibed its holy ichor as our sacrament, to become one of its own. The Player: Some place of worship, crucifying it... Samael: Watch your tongue, heretic. This is sanctuary for it. This is safety. To never leave its cocoon, it will never face the true cruelty of this world. And this ensures safety for all of us, preventing the holy ichor from entering the wrong hands. The Player: Ichor? Do you mean the pool of blood below it? Samael: The Holy Ichor, the source of our power and beliefs. A Celestial isn't simply a being of power, it is God. To drink its lifeline, and understand the true meaning of everything is our ambition. |

~ Samael explains the motivations and goals of the Starkindred Church. |
Samael is a minor character in the Roblox game Deepwoken.
He is a high ranking member of the Starkindred Church, in charge of their branch in the Songseeker Wilds, who inducts others into his cult, making them gorge on the blood of a tortured Celestial to become Starkindred.
Biography[]
Samael's past is largely unknown, but he one day came to the Ancient Rotlands in Songseeker Wilds and found a Celestial that had fallen from the stars. He had it taken to a local church to the Celestial Ku, forcing out the church's pastor, Ezra, and taking control. He had it nailed to a large cross, torturing it so that it would bleed and fill a pool he had constructed beneath it. Using this, he harvested its blood for his followers, who drank it and obtained a new level of power, becoming almost angelic in appearance. As those affected found their minds overloaded with a massive amount of information about the world around them, Samael concluded that the blood was the key to obtaining true omniscience. Eventually, four disciples who had drunk from the Celestial's blood, Iblis, Abaddon, Minos and Astaroth, came to realise that Samael had lost his mind and left him. Samael denounced them as heretics and waited for the day someone strong enough could replace them.
Eventually, he found a Pathfinder whom he deemed a suitable replacement. He had them murder Iblis and return to him, bestowing upon them the Celestial's blood. He then tasked them with killing the remaining three, ensuring the continuation of his faith.
