Samuel Catapang (shortly for Samuel) is a secondary antagonist in the ninth season of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
He is Armando Silang’s acquaintance and second-in-command in the group of farmers who became a band of mercenaries in the North whose goal is to kill Don Ignacio Guillermo as their way to avenge their relatives death. They pretended to be an ally of Cardo but later reveals to be their enemy as they joined forces with Lily Anne Cortez.
He is played by Michael Flores who also played Bayawak in Black Rider.
Biography[]
He became an acquaintance of Armando Silang after the latter have moved from a fishing village to a remote farm village. One day tragedy came when their relatives died caused by Don Ignacio and his men stealing their lands. He formed with Armando Silang, his brother Lucas, and the remaining farmers a band of mercenary to kill Don Ignacio Guillermo as their way to avenge their relatives’ deaths.
One day he crossed path with Cardo and Task Force Agila as they have orchestrated hostage crisis in a hotel. It was initially unknown to him, why Armando took the Task Force Agila and took it as a secret first with his wife about claiming their bounties. As Task Force Agila continues to hide in their mansion and helps them in some missions, he poisoned their food as his way to dispose them away, luckily Task Force Agila survived the incident. Armando investigates behind the attempted poisoning of Task Force Agila and he denies that he was the one responsible. Days later after they have finished another mission with Task Force Agila, annoyed with Cardo he brawled Task Force Agila only to be stopped by Armando, Gen. Oligario, Roxanne, and Gen. Borja. He was reprimanded by Armando Silang making him forced to play ally with Task Force Agila until Armando reveals his true plans about keeping Task Force Agila.
After they have pretended as an ally of Task Force Agila and Cardo was captured by the authorities, Armando has decided to eliminate them and claim their bounties to the First Lady. He helped Armando and their men follow Task Force Agila and attempted to capture them as Lucas decides to defect their group. Upon cornering Lucas his younger brother, Lucas pleads him to leave the group and continue fight for their good cause. Confused to his loyalty to Armando and his brotherly instinct, he decided to spare Lucas allowing Task Force Agila to escape. Task Force Agila have successfully escaped except for Delfin caused by Omar.
One night after they have captured Gen. Borja, they officially made alliance with Lily Ann Hidalgo and Armando introduces him as his right-hand man. The same time, Lily asked them to eliminate Don Ignacio Guillermo, he helped Armando torturing Don Ignacio by beating him and bathing him with kerosine. He and the group have been rejoicing as they have successfully killed Don Ignacio and avenged their families’ death.
Days later after killing Don Ignacio, he caught Delfin escaping in their mansion and brought him to Armando. As he reports Armando about Delfin’s attempt to escape, they beat Delfin mercilessly. He prepares a knife to stab Delfin and gives it to Armando, however the killing of Delfin was ceased when they learned that Cardo has arrived their mansion. He prepares one of their traps by putting a poison on a wine to be served with Cardo. As Cardo pleads to leave and update the whereabouts of his friends, Armando lies to him and later reveals his true motive about claiming his bounty. He then points gun with Cardo with Armando’s men, as Cardo points his gun at Armando upon revealing his betrayal. Delfin managed to regain himslelf consciousness and strength, and disrupted them allowing Cardo to escape. He then shoots back with his men causing Delfin’s death.
He follows Cardo with Armando’s men as Cardo managed to escape from the shootout. As Cardo swam throughout the seashore near their mansion, he and his men attempted to shoot him. However, he was ultimately defeated in the duel when Cardo managed to jump out unharmed and stab him in the stomach resulting his death leaving him an X slash mark on his face and kicking him through the sea.
Personality[]
It is implied during his past that he was a kind-hearted and selfless man who deeply cares everyone important to him such as his brother Lucas, his wife and daughter. However when tragedy came, this changed him from a kind-hearted to a vengeful individual as he only thinks about his loved ones and grudge to Don Ignacio. With this grudge this turned him to be a selfish individual at some point, where he and his loyal men attempted to kill Don Ignacio recklessly causing most of his men died even to the point that he defied Armando’s order in killing Don Ignacio.
Despite of his selfishness and hot-headed personality, he also cares about everything important to him such as his brother and the group. As he deeply values his bonds with Armando and their group, he highly shows some loyalty and respect to their bond. However sometimes he defies some Armando’s order such as antagonizing Cardo and his friends since he has a personal perspective that they are distrustful that may risk their plans.
As an elder brother, he also shows high brotherly instincts to his younger brother Lucas as he deeply cares him for being his remaining family member. This also made him to spare Lucas and let Task Force Agila get a way from Armando as they attempt to capture them allowing Task Force Agila escape from their hands.
