The Sand Banbara is a Mutant Robot of the Neo-Human Empire Phantom Army and an antagonist in episode 8 of the 1973 Tokusatsu series Inazuman.
History[]
Sand Banbara was tasked by Emperor Banba with kidnapping humans who showed psionic abilities so they could be converted into Neo-Human soldiers for his empire. To this end, Sand Banbara caused a plane to crash in the hopes that it would lure mutants to the spot. After a boy named Raita Tachibana showed up, Sand Banbara assumed he was a mutant and attempted to kidnap him, but his attempt was thwarted by Goro Watari. After Goro and the Youth League walked the boy home however, Sand Banbara made another attempt to capture him by sucking his house into a sinkhole. Raita attempted to flee, but was caught by Sand Banbara and captured in one of his "hell holes". Sand Banbara commanded Raita to use his psychic powers to escape the hole, only to find he didn't have any powers at all. Frustrated, Sand Banbara chose to leave Raita for dead, and was soon confronted by Goro Watari, who transformed into Inazuman to face the Mutant Creature. After Inazuman pulled Raita's house out of the hell hole and saved Raita, Sand Banbara teleported both himself and Inazuman to a sandy area in order to give himself the advantage. However, Inazuman soon discovered Sand Banbara's weakness, that he could not move in hard sand. Inazuman sprayed Sand Banbara with concrete in order to freeze him in place before destroying him with his "Lightning Strike".
