Sarah Normark is a vigilante who sought vengeance on the psychotic criminal who killed her family. She is portrayed by Kara Zediker.

Background

She worked as an exchange house administrator for many years. She was the wife of Dean Normark, and they had one son Travis, with her adoring her family.

Erin's Mom

At the beginning of the episode, Jared Miko and his partner Nick Vosh robbed an exchange house and held her and her family hostage, keeping them separated with Sarah held in her office while her family was put in the back of container on truck tied up. When Jared fled in the truck with Dean and Travis, he ends up getting desperate and drives the truck into a frozen lake, where Dean and Travis end up dying. Much later, she is distraught by her ordeal and the loss of her family, wondering how someone could do this. In response, Det. Alvin Olinsky tells her that people who do these types of things do not deserve to breathe. Sarah took these words into consideration and was told they will apprehend the one who did this. Afterwards, Intelligence was able to (after a harsh interrogation) get a detained Nick to rat out Jared, leading to his arrest.

Unfortunately, Jared ends up escaping custody and this news reaches Sarah who resolved not to let him get away. After Jared is detained again, Sarah hides among the crowd of gathered media and waits for him to get closer to the police station. Donning her hood, she overhears Jared tells Sgt. Hank Voight that he managed to escape once and that he was going to do it again, but when the CPD were taking him to the inside the police station, Sarah makes her move and shoots Jared in the chest, killing him on the spot. Sarah is promptly apprehended, and her identity revealed.

In interrogation, she was shown shaking and admits her motive, while having no remorse for killing Miko and reminds Alvin of what he previously told her, so when she heard of his recapture, she couldn't bear the thought of him getting released in the future while her family was dead. Ruzek and Alvin understood her actions and comforted her on her loss after she broke down, reluctantly putting her in lock-up. Due to Jared's heinous crimes, Intelligence contacted the ASA to show Sarah leniency while she was given a lighter sentence in jail.
