~ Satan's dialogue in the ending cutscene as he begins to destroy Earth to ensure no one can be reddest of them all if he can't.

Satan is the main antagonist of the 2024 indie platform action game, ANTONBLAST.

He is a demon who rules over Hell, and whose goal is to be the reddest thing in existence. When it turns out, however, that Anton is, he commands his army of Ballbusters to steal Anton's most cherished possession, his spirits, to lure Anton (and his friend, Annie as well) to Satan's lair, setting off the plot.

He is voiced by Gianni Matragrano, who also voiced Cynte in Endoparasitic, Sebastian Solace in Pressure, Gabriel in Ultrakill, and Stalker in Warframe.

Appearance[]

Satan is a plump, magenta demon with conjoined black eyeballs with yellow pupils, black horns, small wings, and a stubby tail. His outfit consists of a floating crown atop of his head and black bottoms.

In his biblically accurate form, Satan’s top half remains the same. His lower half is covered in a teal, fleshy substance which is additionally attached to a blue fleshy appendage. His wings expand in size and he gains four insectoid legs with yellow ends.

After siphoning Anton’s redness, Satan becomes much more muscular and gains an red-orange skin tone. His pupils become ringed as well.

Personality[]

Satan is a leader who desires to be known as the reddest being ever to exist, and grows envious of Anton after find out about his more crimson skin than his, retaliating against the destruction worker by stealing his entire collection of spirits. Being wrathful as he is, he knowingly strategizes this plan with stealing Anton's spirits to lure him over to him and confront him physically.

Another of Satan's notable traits is his excessive extravaganza and bombastic personality, as since he talks snobbish to the magic mirror to shine the most red, and soon screams in complete ham upon the realization about Anton instead being the reddest of them all.

Biography[]

Opening[]

While in Hell, Satan requests his magic mirror to tell him if he shines the reddest of them all. The magic mirror, while admitting that Satan is crimson, there is another person who is more redder than him, causing Satan to snap and order the magic mirror to inform him on who possibly this red guy could be. Upon further inspection, the person turns out to be Dynamite Anton, leaving Satan to scowl in fury and command his lead of Ballbusters to steal what Anton cherishes the most, so that he can siphon his red skin tone and become the reddest being of all in the planet. The Ballbusters end up breaking in Anton and Annie's apartment and steal the formers spirit collection for Satan. Now enraged, Anton embarks on a mission to reclaim his liquor from Satan, while Annie joins along for fun.

During Gameplay[]

During level intermissions, Satan would monologue random quotes to the player. It is also stated that he also has a rivalry with Brulo as well, due to his lead of Ballbusters raiding him of his business and putting him in serious financial debt.

Right before Anton battles the first major boss, Jewel Ghoul, Satan reveals himself to the demolitionist. Anton takes some time to process the situation, before becoming enraged after figuring out Satan was the culprit behind the theft of his liquor, and threatens him that he has no idea who he is dealing with. Satan is unintimidated, and claims he has more pressing matter to attend, before leaving.

If Annie is the one who fights Jewel Ghoul instead, Satan will become confused, and ask who she is, before Annie replies with the exact same thing. Satan then politely askes Annie if she could bring out Anton, to which she questions why he would want to talk to him. Answering that this is none of her business, Annie interrupts Satan by asking where her TV is, causing the demon to grow impatient and leave the scene.

Boss Battle[]

After venturing and making it to Hell, Anton or Annie confront Satan in his lair, anticipating for their arrival. He leaps out of his throne and steals all the liquor Anton/Annie currently possesses and uses them to power up before battling them. Skipping side to side, Satan has at least 5 attacks, including him plummeting down with his anus, performing a ground pound to create a shockwave, blowing his nose like a flute to relinquish a bombard of explosive demons, and swinging his own hammer to perform a boost and slide. While vulnerable, Anton/Annie must strike Satan's anus to damage him, and once all of his health is depleted, either hero will attempt to initiate the final blow, before Satan's magic mirror protects him. Witnessing the destruction of his mirror, Satan mourns the loss, before quickly fleeing the scene.

Anton/Annie quickly follow him in pursuit, and once they catch him, Satan yells at the hero and activates a new transformation. Frightened by his transformation, Anton/Annie run all the way back to Satan's throne room, only to accidentally trip once they are in there. Satan, now having the hero exactly where he wants them, takes out a straw to siphon their reddish tone and activate his final transformation as Lucifer. Now being the reddest of them all, Satan flicks Anton/Annie away and plans on mating. However, his accomplishment is short-lived, as Anton/Annie's liquor quickly revives and powers them up, causing Satan to yell for the other bosses to dispose of the hero, only to find them bruised after their battle with Anton/Annie.

In the third phase, Satan monologues how if someone would want something done right, they would have to do it themselves, before emerging as a giant. In this phase, Satan has 5 new attacks, which include crushing Anton/Annie with his fingers, emitting light beams, playing rock, paper scissors, summoning falling rocks onto them or scissors to cut them up, or summon big bouncy demons to crush Anton/Annie, who hurl it back at him.

In the final phase, after all of his health is depleted once more, Satan will stand on stage and regain some health and stomp his feet to release shockwaves, with it being Anton/Annie task to continue depleting down his health. After that's done, Satan will lose his balance and land on his butthole, allowing Anton/Annie to damage it. Afterwards, Satan will grow enraged and literally takes matters into his own hands. Here, he will continue to emit light beams like in phase 3, and Anton/Annie must damage his nose and eyes. When his first health bar is depleted, Satan's crown will begin to land on Anton/Annie and imprison them, prompting them to attack and release the crown off of them.

After beating up a bruised Satan, Anton/Annie's Hammer/Mace will enlarge so that they can deliver the real final blow, sending him flying, before chasing after him once more and giving him a beatdown. Once Satan is in submission, Anton/Annie finish him off by smashing his anus with their weapon of choice.

Ending[]

After his defeat, Satan emerges back to his original magenta tone, causing him to breakdown crying, while lamenting the destruction of his kingdom and mirror. From here, Satan realizes he should do something else, and decides that if he can't be the reddest of them all, then nobody can. He brings out his Satan Switch to detonate Earth and activates it, before he bids Anton and Annie farewell as they will meet each other again someday. Both heroes race back to the surface and survive the apocalypse Satan implemented on their planet.

In the credits flavour text, it has been stated that after the events, nobody ever heard from Satan or bothered searching for him. But as the old saying goes, "The devil's in the details", presumably indicating that Satan is scheming a new plan.

Trivia[]

  • Satan's appearance and mannerisms are directly inspired from Dr. Ivo Robotnik from Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog.
    • He is also inspired from Red Guy, a main character from Chicken & Cow, who is also a Devil-like creature similar to Satan. Satan even references his inspiration as he calls Anton, the "Red Guy."
  • Satan is also somewhat inspired off from the Shake King, the antagonist of Wario Land: Shake It, as his boss battle's first phase has a somewhat similar battle to that of the Shake King's.
  • It’s noted that even after stealing Anton’s redness, Satan instead gains a red-orange hue, meaning that his quest to become the reddest being in existence was futile from the very start.
  • Seeing as Satan remarks that he wants to find a mate after stealing Anton’s redness, it’s possible that there are other demons belonging to his species and that he’s not unique.
