Satan is the secondary antagonist of The Binding of Isaac and its remake The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.
Satan is the manifestation of Isaac's self-loathing in his mental world, tempting him into giving in to his own dark impulses. He serves as the boss of Sheol and, upon his defeat, either plays Ending 12 or leaves a chest leading to the Dark Room.
When encountered in his own special room type before Sheol, Satan offers to sell Isaac powerful items in exchange for heart containers. Taking one of these deals will prevent Isaac from entering Angel Deals, the positive counterparts to Devil Deals.
Appearance[]
In his statue form, Satan seems rather stocky with black skin, a long face ending in a black beard, two long ears, two big horns, a black inverted cross on the forehead, two black wings roughly the size of his body and brown pants. He is always in a crouching position with his eyes closed, his index and middle fingers pointing at the sky and a faint smile on his face.
On his boss title screen, he is in the same position but his eyes are open and entirely red. He appears in his battle form during the second phase of his boss fight, where he looks a lot like his statue form but with clearly larger and more visible muscles and an aggressive expression.
During the last phase of his boss fight, he only appears as two giant legs dropping from the sky in a similar fashion as Mom’s. His legs are black and bloated and end in black hooves.
