Sato is a minor antagonist of the anime Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. He is a soldier of ZAFT that has lost his family during the Bloody Valentine incident and a follower of Patrick Zala.
Personality[]
Sato is vengeful about losing his familiy when Muruta Azrael nuked the space colony of Junius Seven, and as a result, he deeply hated the Naturals and followed Patrick Zala's ideal of exterminating all Naturals. However, after the end of the First Alliance-PLANT War where ZAFT signed the Junius Treaty and stopped war with Earth Alliance, Sato become disappointed with ZAFT and decided to go for extreme action.
Biography[]
Sato was originally a soldier of ZAFT who witnessed the Bloody Valentine incident when Muruta Azrael launched nuclear missiles towards the Junius Seven colony, destroying it and killing everyone in it, including Sato's family. This planted a deep hatred towards the Naturals in Sato's mind, and he eventually became a follower of Patrick Zala as he agreed with Patrick's ideal of coordinators being superior then naturals and that naturals should be all killed. However, Patrick was killed in the First Alliance-PLANT War, and ZAFT decided to go sign peace treaty with the Earth Alliance, much to Sato's disappointment. Due to this, Sato went rouge alongside other Patrick loyalists.
At some point, Sato and other Patrick loyalists sabotaged the remains of the Junius Seven and set it to a collision course with Earth using flare motors. When the Jule Team went to the remains of Junius Seven to break it apart and minimize the damage it would bring to Earth, Sato and the Patrick loyalists showed up in their GINN High Maneuver Type II and shot down Yzak's forces one by one. Later, they went into combat with Yzak and later the Minerva Mobile Suit team. Eventually, Neo Roanoke's Mobile Suit joined the battle as well, and during the battle, Sato talked about how ZAFT had "changed for the worst" for going peace with Earth Alliance when combatting Athrun Zala, and that the only future for the coordinators is to drop the remains of Junius Seven on Earth. As the Junius Seven remains went closer to the atmosphere, Sato's forces were defeated, and as the remains of the Junius Seven entered the atmosphere, Sato attempted to take Athurn with him by pulling him into the atmosphere via grabbing his Mobile Suit's leg. However, Shinn Asuka sliced off Arthurn's ZAKU Warrior's leg with the Impulse Gundam and kicked the GINN High Maneuver Type II into the remains of the Junius Seven, destroying the Mobile Suit and killing Sato on impact.
Despite of Sato's death and the Minerva blasting the remains of Junius Seven with its cannon, the space colony still spilt into million of pieces that scattered across the Earth, leading to destruction and a large amount of casualties. This event later also caused the Earth Alliance to declare war on ZAFT again.
