Scarlet Briar, formerly known as Ceara is the main antagonist of the "Living World Season 1" in Guild Wars 2 and the overarching antagonist of the continuing seasons and expansions.
She is voiced by Tara Strong.
Biography[]
Scarlet was born as Ceara, a Secondborn sylvari. Since her awakening, she had always been curious about her surroundings. However, she had been dismissive about the teachings of the Pale Tree and showed zero empathy towards other people. After leaving the Grove, she had spent several years studying under the masters of several races, including studying at all colleges of Rata Sum, which were previously open only to asura.
Eventually, she was tracked by a scientist named Omadd, who offered Ceara to explore the Eternal Alchemy. Ceara agreed for them to start work on an experiment that would be eventually called the "Omadd's Machine". Ceara entered the machine, starting a spiraling descent towards the madness, as what she saw in the machine changed her greatly. She took on the name Scarlet Briar, killed Omadd, and started working on a new set of experiments.
Her nightmares were also increasing on intensity, with an unknown entity calling out to her. Several years later, after giving in to the voices in her dreams, she started forming Scarlet's Alliance, persuading several antagonistic races to work with each other and to join her, while working on her ultimate goal—find a ley line hub and awake her new master, the Elder Dragon Mordremoth.
Appearance[]
Scarlet's appearance is that of a typical sylvari. She has green skin with vibrant orange hair in the shape of two prickly pigtails. She is usually wearing her engineering garb, sometimes with a hood over her head to conceal her identity. During the battle of Lion's Arch, her attire was complimented by a set of armor with a helmet. Her weapons of choice are usually a sniper rifle, pistols and explosives.
