Totally. The others don't know what I'm capable of. But one day, I'll show them. I've got the true heart of a hero. […] I keep it in a big jar at the back of my closet.
~ Scarlet Scarab talking to his scarab suit.

Scarlet Scarab is a major antagonist in the season one episode "Deep Cover Batman!" in Batman: The Brave and the Bold. He is a member of the Injustice Syndicate and an alternate reality version of Blue Beetle.

Biography[]

Scarlet Scarab along with the other members of the Injustice Syndicate such as Owlman, Silver Cyclone, and Blue Bowman were responsible for committing many crimes in their world and eventually defeating most of the world's superheroes and imprisoning them. Scarlet Scarab along with the other supervillains sought to get the Phase Oscillator to go to different alternate realities to conquer them. The group fought against Red Hood, the only superhero who escaped from the Injustice Syndicate, to get the Phase Oscillator. Scarlet Scarab and the other supervillains attacked and beat down Red Hood, but the latter escaped. Despite Red Hood's escape, the group was able to successfully retrieve the Phase Oscillator.

Owlman goes into Batman's world in an attempt to gather information on it to see if it can be conquered. However, unbeknownst to Scarlet Scarab and the others, Batman returned disguised as Owlman to lie to them about how dangerous that alternate reality world is to conquer. Because of this information, Scarlet Scarab, Blue Bowman, and Silver Cyclone decides to go with their next plan which is to use Silver Cyclone's bomb to destroy an alternate reality world. The group decides to go to a facility to get Promethium-90, an isotope needed to power the Phase Oscillator bomb. While at the facility, Scarlet Scarab took joy in shooting at workers and scientists in the facility until Owlman stopped him. While getting close to the Promethium-90, Red Hood appears to stop them and they fight against him. Owlman stages a defeat of Red Hood and brings him back to the Injustice League while also taking the Promethium-90.

Scarlet Scarab is shown to be happy and eats his food. When it is revealed by Dyna-Mite that the Owlman they met is an imposter, Scarlet Scarab and Blue Bowman fights him until he revealed himself to be Batman and defeat both of them. After their defeat, Scarlet Scarab, Blue Bowman, Silver Cyclone, Dyna-Mite, and multiple other supervillains joined together to confront Batman, Red Hood, and the superheroes who were recently released from their prison cells. A major fight occurs where the supervillains and superheroes fight until Scarlet Scarab and most of the other supervillains are defeated. When Silver Cyclone remains as the only supervillain to oppose the superheroes and decides to activate the Phase Oscillator bomb. As Blue Bowman expected Silver Cyclone to send the bomb to Batman's world to destroy it, Silver Cyclone reveals that he intends to kill all organic-life presently near him out of his hate for humans to the shock of Scarlet Scarab and everyone nearby until Red Hood kills Silver Cyclone and deactivate the bomb. After the incident, Scarlet Scarab remains detained by the recently released superheroes.
