Scatha is a minor villain in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. He is mentioned in The Lord of the Rings.
Scatha was a flightless dragon of obscure origin who in the Third Age came to terrorize Dwarves and amass for himself a great treasure hoard, basing himself in the southern slopes of the Grey Mountains. Eventually, Fram, son of Frumgar, managed to slay him, and afterwards his treasure hoard was divided up between Fram's people (who would go on to become the people of Rohan), and the Dwarves who had originally owned the treasure. Among the treasures recovered was a Horn that would later be used by the Hobbit Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck.
