~ Schröder

Schröder is a major character in the 2018 first-person shooter video game Battlefield V, serving as the tritagonist of The Last Tiger war story.

He serves as the gunner of Tiger 237 in the German tank crew, serving under Commander Peter Müller. He is a young, eager, and blindly patriotic soldier who screams slogans and keeps moving forward even when things appear hopeless.

He was portrayed by Andreas Warmbrunn.

Biography[]

Background[]

Schröder was born at an unknown time in Germany. He grew up admiring Adolf Hitler and the Nazis and by 1945 enlisted to win the war. He was stationed with Peter Müller and Tiger 237.

Hartmann's Death & Betrayal[]

After the rocket attack, Schröder tells Müller to send Hartmann out to investigate, much to Kertz's protests, but Müller reluctantly agrees. Unfortunately, it was a trap and they battled the US Army. After the fight, Hartmann was nowhere to be seen, so they left. They managed to cross a town, where they saw Hartmann's corpse hanging, designating him a traitor to the fatherland.

They eventually make it to the bridge but find out that the Nazis blew it up, abandoning them. Kertz, upon realizing, left the tank and began walking away. After Schröder's protests, he shot and killed Kertz. Müller then realized that everything he fought for didn't matter and that he was in the wrong. As this was occurring, the US Army arrived, signaling them to surrender. After Schröder's protests for Müller to get in the tank went unheard, he turned his gun in to his commander.

Aftermath[]

Unfortunately, the screen went black with only shots being heard, making it ambiguous as to what actually happened to Schröder. If he killed Müller, or if the Americans killed him, we will never know.
