RC-1262, nicknamed Scorch, is a supporting character in the Star Wars franchise.
Scorch was a part of the elite commando unit, Delta Squad, and served as the squad's demolition and explosives expert. After the Clone Wars, he became a Clone Commander in the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps. He was later reassigned to assist Dr. Royce Hemlock in his experiments on Mount Tantiss, serving as Hemlock’s personal bodyguard.
He was voiced by Raphael Sbarge in the games, and by Dee Bradley Baker in his animated appearances.
Biography[]
Clone Wars[]
Like the rest of the clones, Scorch was born on the planet Kamino. He was then assigned to Delta Squad, a elite commando unit along with Boss, Fixer and Sev. Scorch serves alongside his teammates on a number of battlefields, ranging from the rocky planet Geonosis, the streets of Coruscant to the snowy Mygeeto.
Scorch, along with Delta Squad, were dispatched to the planet Devaron where they recovered the bodies of two Jedi who were killed by the Nightbrother Savage Opress who recently became Count Dooku's new apprentice.
Towards the last few days of the war, Scorch fought in the Battle of Kashyyyk, during which he and his squad mates were forced to abandon fellow team member Sev.
Imperial Career[]
After the formation of the Empire, Scorch and the other members of Delta Squad (minus Sev, who was abandoned) served the newly-formed Imperial Army, as members of the Imperial Commandos.
Later, Scorch was involved in the training of the first generation of non-cloned Imperial stormtroopers on Daro. After Gregor, another clone commando was captured trying to desert the base, the rogue clone commando unit known as "the Bad Batch" infiltrated the planet to free him.
Scorch then engaged Gregor and the Bad Batch and pursued them, wounding Gregor and Tech before being incapacitated by a flurry of stun blasts by the rest of the Batch. He later regained consciousness and joined the Imperial forces to capture the leader of the Bad Batch, Hunter, taking him into a Imperial custody.
Scorch was eventually promoted to Clone Commander of the Weyland Commandos, the security force for the Mount Tantiss facility on the planet Weyland. In 18 BBY, Scorch and several other commandos were dispatched to recapture an escaped Zillo Beast cloned that belonged to the Advanced Science division. After a skirmish with the Bad Batch, the Weyland commandos successfully recaptured the Beast but the renegade clones were able to escape. The commandos were then tasked with arresting and executing the civilians (including children) who saw the beast in order to ensure that there were no witnesses. Scorch would later report the incident to Dr. Royce Hemlock who ordered him to locate and capture the escapees.
Following the Bad Batch's infiltration of Governor Tarkin's stronghold on Eriadu, Dr. Hemlock and a squad of Weyland Commandos traveled to Ord Mantell after being tipped off to the renegade clones' location by their employer Cid.
Hunter and Wrecker were captured but Hemlock's squad was ambushed by Omega who demanded the release of her brothers. Hemlock stalled Omega which allowed Scorch to drop behind and stun her unconscious. Scorch then brought unconscious Omega aboard a shuttle that transported them back to the Weyland facility. Hemlock would then use Omega as leverage to force Nala Se to cooperate with Emperor Palpatine's plans.
In the following months, Scorch continued to oversee the security on Mount Tantiss. He guarded Dr. Hemlock and Emperor Palpatine during the latter's tour of the Weyland facility. When Omega and Crosshair commandeered a shuttle to escape the planet, Hemlock and Scorch deployed troops to prevent their departure. Before the escapees' ship could be shot down, Dr. Emerie Karr informed Hemlock that Omega's blood allowed for a positive M-Count transfer. Despite Scorch's concerns, Hemlock ordered his forces to stand down as Omega's survival was now considered essential for the success of Project Necromancer.
After the Clone Assassin CX-1 is captured by the Clone Underground, Scorch activates another assassin code named CX-2 to eliminate them before any intel can be divulged. Scorch then orders CX-2 to wait for reinforcements when the latter reports that Omega is with the rogue Clones at their base on Teth. Although most of the Clone Underground is killed in the ensuing battle, the mission ends in failure as CX-2 is incapacitated by Crosshair while the reinforcements led by Commander Wolffe allow Omega, Clone Force 99, and the other survivors to escape.
When Jax, one of the Force-sensitive children being held on Mount Tantiss, tries to escape; Scorch stuns the child before he has the chance to make it out the door. Emerie scolds the commander for using extreme force to which Scorch replies that he was only following protoccol. Hemlock later tasked Scorch with retrieving another M-count target from the Imperial Station above Coruscant and Emerie volunteers to join him. They meet with the bounty hunter Cad Bane who hands over a Force-sensitive infant in exchange for credits. While Emerie is disturbed by the target's young age, Scorch is indifferent as it will be easier to control. The two then bring the child back to Tantiss.
After CX-2 narrows down Omega's location to Pabu, Scorch dispatches reinforcements to the planet. The operation is successful as Omega willingly turns herself over to save the townspeople. Scorch later informs Hemlock that Clone Force 99 and the former Vice Admiral Rampart have reached Tantiss by latching onto a science vessel at the Imperial station above Coruscant. On Hemlock's orders, Scorch dispatches V-wing fighters to shoot them down. The clone commander and a squad of Stormtroopers then search the science vessel but are unable to find Echo who snuck aboard and disguised himself with stormtrooper armor.
Scorch later reports to Hemlock that Rampart had been captured. After Omega escapes the containment area and unleash the captive Zillo Beast, Hemlock orders Scorch to shut down the reactor and secure the transport hanger. Despite his efforts, the Zillo Beast escaped the facility into the jungle. Hemlock then orders air support to pursue the Zillo while activating all of the CX troopers to prepare for Clone Force 99's inevitable infiltration.
Scorch continues to remain by Hemlock's side, observing the rogue clones being tortured after their capture and later reporting the central lab's destruction at the hands of Nala Se. After Omega frees her brothers and tries to escape, he helps Hemlock restrain her as they try to evacuate. Before they can escape, Hemlock's shuttle is shot down by Hunter and Crosshair. The two rogue clones quickly shoot down Scorch before he can react, sending his lifeless body falling into the abyss below the facility.
Personality[]
Scorch was Delta Squad's wisecracker, regularly cracking jokes during battle. But at the same time, he is also an excellent soldier, serving as the explosive technician of the team. He also liked to blow things up, even receiving his nickname from an explosion that blew off both his and his mentor's eyebrows. During the Imperial Era in the Canon continuity, Scorch, now a Clone Commander, displayed great loyalty to Dr. Hemlock and carried out his orders without question, displaying no signs of his light-hearted personality.
Unlike many other clones who began to show doubts about the Empire over time, Scorch fanatically stuck to his orders. This is also clearly seen in his position as the personal bodyguard of Dr. Hemlock at Mount Tantiss, which shows that he is aware of the experiments the Empire is conducting on his brothers and Force-sensitive children, but he shows no concern for their well-being.
When Jax, a Force-sensitive child, attempted to escape the facility, Scorch stunned him without hesitation and ordered his commandos to confine him to his room. Dr. Emerie Karr said that his measures were extreme, but the commander stated that the “specimen” was trying to escape, and that he was simply following protocol.

Trivia[]
- Dave Filoni requested the creative team to incorporate Scorch and his teammates into the plot, thus their appearance in season three. This saved the squad from the canon reset in 2014, in which all previous non-film material outside of The Clone Wars was declared non-canon.
- Despite being named Scorch, the canon incarnation of Scorch is a far cried from the "Legends" incarnation, in the Legends Continuity, Scorch was a wisecracker and love to blow things up, but he is none of those in the current canon, instead he's a regular clone commando loyal to the Empire. To many fans, this is Scorch in name only.
- From now, Scorch is the first and only member of Delta Squad to turn evil and die. Boss, Fixer and Sev's fates remain unknown currently.
