Scorned Magnamalo are Fanged Wyverns and Variants of Magnamalo first introduced in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak. Magnamalos that lost one of their antlers and therefore, breeding rights, Scorned Magnamalo now prowl their territories with seething vengeance, honing their strength by eliminating any monster they encounter. Now capable of wielding the powerful dragon element, they're considered to be threats that rival Elder Dragons in terms of raw power.
In particular, the Scorned Magnamalo that first appears is heavily implied to be the Magnamalo that gave Master Hamon his debilitating injury, meaning that not only did it ravage Kamura 50 years ago, it also forced Hamon out of his hunting career, making it the overarching antagonist of Monster Hunter Rise.
Physiology[]
While mostly unchanged in appearance compared to its normal kin, the Scorned Magnamalo's right antler is notably broken, with a stump transitioning into purple at the edges being all that remains of it. Furthermore, its right eye is blind and has a scar over it. Its features are generally spikier: its fangs are incredibly long, its arm blades are serrated, its belly has spikes, while its back scutes are much more jagged and unfold in place of the normal Magnamalo's scutes. The Scorned Magnamalo is also covered in red scars on its limbs, shoulders and near its face. Its flame now constantly burns pink and will turn red when enraged.
Abilities[]
The Scorned Magnamalo has mastered its Hellfire and superior physicality due to years of hatred and battle scars, which enables it to employ more intricate and extensive explosive strikes. Specifically, it can concentrate Hellfire gas into its elongated arm-blades to unleash vicious combo slashes or increase the range of its swings. It also uses these blades to lethal advantage. When its anger peaks, it can transform into a new "Raging Hellfire" condition, which makes it considerably more hostile and turns some of its Hellfire red while inflicting Dragonblight.
Behavior[]
Now capable of defeating numerous apex predators and engaging in combat on par with, if not surpassing, Elder Dragons, the scorned Magnamalo is far more ferocious and aggressive than even a normal Magnamalo. In keeping with its moniker of Ultimate Malice, this vengeful creature will strike anything that trespasses into its domain and seems to purposefully seek out dangerous creatures to fight and eat. Hunters are dispatched to hunt it whenever it appears because Kamura Village, in particular, is extremely afraid of it.
