Scorpion begins to think he better allow Shinnok to get the last Kamidogu and be done with it. Raiden then declares that Scorpio has hesitated for too long between shadow and light and that it is time for him to choose his side, as his wife and son arguably wanted.
Later, Scorpion is walking through a harbor when he suddenly comes under attack from the Lin-Kuei cyborgs, Cyrax, and Sektor. As the cyborgs get the better of Scorpion, they get frozen by Kuai Liang, the new Sub-Zero wanting revenge on Scorpion for killing his older brother on Shang Tsung Island. While Smoke fends off Sub-Zero, Scorpion manages to hold his own against Sektor and Cyrax but is eventually overtaken by them and crushed to the ground by Smoke, knocking him out and injuring him in the process.
As evening falls, the cyborgs bring Scorpion to the Kamidogu temple. Elder Shirai Ryu tries to resonate with them about what they are about to do, only to be forced to touch the temple door which opens at his touch. The Lin-Kuei prepare to finish him off as he comes to terms with his end by asking Arumi to forgive him. Suddenly, Sub-Zero appears and freezes the cyborgs again before confronting Scorpion one-on-one until the latter repatriates to the temple.
Arrived in a dirty ice, Scorpion dodges the ice shots of Sub-Zero who then confronts him on the death of his brother. Although Scorpion admits his regret for killing Bi-Han as well as the revelation of Quan-Chi's involvement, Sub-Zero refuses to believe him and the two begin to fight violently before being interrupted by the cyborgs. The two ninjas agree to join forces against their common enemy and succeed in burying them under debris of ice.
The next stop is the Kamidogu room where Sub-Zero sneakily tries to stab Scorpion from behind with an ice dagger but Scorpion is able to subdue him on the ground then tries to reason with him about what will happen if the Kamidogu falls into the wrong hands. . Sub-Zero says he doesn't care but Scorpion sees that he is a good person and explains to him that revenge does not bring peace but more suffering. Scorpion gives Sub-Zero the opportunity to finish him off just for him to finally let go of his desire for revenge, though he states he will never forgive Scorpion. The duo is unfortunately then attacked by the cyborgs who recover the Kamidogu and leave the two ninjas to be buried under the rubble of the temple.
Surviving thanks to an ice barrier, Scorpion and Sub-Zero travel to the Netherealm to stop Shinnok from gathering the Kamidogu but the Fallen God's demons prevent them from intervening in time, leading to Shinnok's transformation into a gigantic monster and the fusion of all kingdoms.
In this now unique chaotic Realm, Scorpion teams up with the other fighters to take on Shinnok, managing to damage the jewel on his skull but is quickly swept away by the giant.
