Scourge (Transformers: Cybertron)

Scourge was the dictator of the Cybertronian colony world Animatron, and a major antagonist of Transformers Cybertron. A former student of Backstop, Scourge turned to ruthless methods to bring peace to his home, and became a cruel tyrant. He would later align himself with the Decepticons in their search for the Cyber Planet Keys. 

History

Backstory

Scourge and his old friend Snarl were the greatest students of Backstop, who taught them the ways of the peaceful warrior. After a sparring match with Snarl, which he won with ease, Scourge saw a wounded Undermine report the raiders that ravaged Animatron had returned. Scourge decided that he and Snarl should take the fight to them, and that he should take the role of leader to bring his world to order. Backstop was appalled at Scourge's words, and Scourge was forced to turn his back on his master's ways. In the wars that followed, Scourge was the eventual victor, and became the new ruler of Animatron. However, the fighting had corrupted his ideals and changed him into a tyrant.

Seeing Bud get the Minicons to stop fighting without force, Scourge sought to understand his methods. Bud's lessons showed Scourge that he had been too set in his mindset of either using force or not, learning to think outside the box/take a third path.
