Scratch and Sniff are the secondary antagonists of the 2007 action videogame The Legend of Spyro: The Eternal Night. They are the de-facto captains of the Skavengers, capturing various species while forcing them to participate in their arena for sadistic entertainment. They do so by commanding the figurehead leader of the Skavengers, Skabb.
The orange parrot, Scratch, is the mastermind of the duo while the fandango purple parrot, Sniff, is the second-in-command.
Scratch is voiced by Jeff Bennett while Sniff is voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson.
Biography[]
After defeating Arborick, Scratch introduces his clan to Spyro, resentful towards him for vanquishing their potential battle contestant for their Fellmuth Arena. He then points out that the dragon will "do just fine" before initiating his crew to ambush Spyro, using him as a replacement. The unconscious dragon is carried aboard the flying ship, occasionally antagonized by Sniff before being summoned for the next fight.
Suddenly, the ape army kidnaps Cynder, forcing Spyro to fight his way throughout the Fellmuth Ship. Upon eventually reaching the captain's quarters, Spyro is confronted by Skabb and his manipulative parrots. After some taunting, they engage in battle until the pirates escape, prompting Spyro to track them down while evading a barrage of ships. Upon locating Skabb, Spyro battles him once more and defeats him for good. Sniff states how they don't need Skabb to take on Spyro, causing Sparx, who was finally fed up with the loudmouth parrot, to knock him out cold. This forces Scratch to escape, intentions unknown as he isn't seen for the rest of the trilogy.
Appearance[]
The duo parrots appear to resemble reptavians due to their dragon-like wings and lizard-reminiscent tails. Scratch is the orange parrot who sits upon Skabb's shoulder, while Sniff is the fandango purple parrot who sits on top of Skabb's back to fire a canon inside the large treasure chest. They both wear eyepatches, a pirate skullcap containing two feathers, and have a large stitch across their underbellies.
Trivia[]
- Oddly enough, only Sniff is seen in the GBA version, with no dialogue of his own. While in the DS version, their personalities are swapped.
- Jared Pullen, the concept artist this game, refers to the duo as "parrot-monkeys".
