Screech is a major antagonist in the 2022 Roblox horror game Doors.

Appearance

Screech is a black slime-covered orb with pale skin and six tentacles around his body. He also shows an unpleasant smile with glowing white eyes and enlarged human.

Biography

The Hotel

Screech will silently observe his target from a distance while stalking it. By paying great attention to the very faint sounds Screech emits, a minor sound is the breathing or it's a distinct "Psst!" sound, the player can detect Screech's existence, although Screech often only emits this sound just before attacking the gamer. If the player doesn't see Screech in time, it will jumpscare them and take 40 health away. Even though Screech won't hurt them and will merely run away, finding it in time will nevertheless jumpscare the player. Screech only attacks in a dark room, so to lower the chances of Screech, a player should carry a light source. A player must look directly at Screech, and it will fly away, but if they only give a glimpse, Screech will not attack. It is also possible for Screech to follow the player into a light room.

The Mines

Screech Mechanic mostly remains the same in the mines, except it can now attack in any room even if it bright

Trivia

• Sometimes, while in a room with a light source, the player will hear Screech's noise, although he is much quieter and does not herald an attack.
• He was created due to Redibles, a developer having a nightmare about a creature like him.
• When Screech appears in front of a player, the others cannot see it.
• It's possible to encounter Screech simultaneously.
• Screech's design is inspired by the Ink Demon.
• There is a glitch where Screech can spawn without his slime. This glitch is often called "Bald Screech".
  • Bald Screech is slightly referenced in the Mines by the Grumbles (Seek killing one of them with his slime in the end) & Giggles.
• When the players receive a badge after using the crucifix on Screech, the description of the badge, "Could you not be yourself for five minutes?!", is a reference from Shrek 2 in the onion carriage scene.
  • As of said badge, he will not appear for five minutes if banished by the crucifix.
