Captain Seamus "Red Eye" MacGuffin is a minor character in the Sonic X comic book series. He was a pirate captain who plundered the Emerald Coast 300 years before the events of the series. After his ship sank, his ghost would continue to haunt the ship and covertly interact with visitors.

Past[]
300 years ago, Captain MacGuffin was a vicious pirate. He sailed across the Emerald Coast, attacking ships and coastal towns he came across and plundering their reaches for themselves. He eventually died, most likely when his ship sank to the bottom of the sea from an unknown cause, and became a ghost haunting what remained of his vessel.
Sonic X[]
In the present day, Dr. Eggman used the wreckage of MacGuffin's ship to set up a trap for Sonic. He placed two Power Rings there, which emitted the same signal as a Chaos Emerald, and once G.U.N. detected it, they sent Sonic, Rouge and Topaz to fetch the "Emerald" from the bottom of the sea. Inside the ship, the three got attacked by a shark. When Topaz struggled against it, MacGuffin, who had been watching it from the shadows, handed her a candelabrum, which she used to fight off the feral fish. Later, when Sonic was attacked by Eggman's Dragonbots, MacGuffin removed the battery from one of them, which opened, revealing the Power Rings inside. Sonic used these rings to defeat the Dragonbot. Though the heroes never learned that MacGuffin took part in their adventure, barring Chuck Thorndyke who suspected it was the case, the pirate ghost enjoyed what he had been through.
