When he was only five, Sean Obihiro lost his parents to a plane crash caused by net-terrorism. Orphaned, custody of Sean was given to his closest relatives, who were cruel towards him, and Sean himself was ostracized. These experiences would lead Sean to believe that friendship was a lie and that he could only trust computers and machines. Lonely and reclusive, Sean began making friends with people on the Net, resulting in the formation of Gospel.
Mega Man Battle Network 2
By ten years old, Sean had become the leader of the NetMafia Gospel. He kept his age and identity a secret by wearing a protective suit that made him look far older than he actually was.
As the Gospel Leader, Sean spearheaded a campaign of cyberterrorism across the globe with seemingly no discernable objective. Secretly, the Gospel Leader sought to re-create the ultimate NetNavi, Bass.EXE, and use bug fragments to clone an army of Bass Navis with which they could use to take over the world. Sean was eventually confronted by Lan and MegaMan at Gospel's HQ. After the duo defeated Bass.EXE, Sean's guise as the Gospel Leader was lifted and his true identity was revealed. In a final stand, Sean overloaded Bass with energy, causing the NetNavi to transform into the Bug Beast Gospel. After the defeat of the Bug Beast, Sean's reveals his backstory to Lan and Megaman. He then considered suicide, believing that the world hated him, but Lan vowed to be his first friend if he has atoned.
As Sean underwent trial for his crimes, Yuichiro Hikari suspected that Sean was not the true mastermind behind Gospel and that someone else had manipulated him.
Mega Man Battle Network
It is revealed that Sean had in fact been controlled by someone else. This secret puppetmaster turned out to be none other than Lord Wily, who had used Gospel as pawns in his plan to recreate Bass.EXE.
Sean appears along with Mamoru, Mayl, Yai, Chaud and Dex to comfort Lan after Megaman seemingly died fighting Alpha back at the WWW base.
