~ "Sean Spicer" yelling at the press

Sean Spicer is a parody of the former White House's Press Secretary. "Sean Spicer" has been one of the most prominent skits used by Saturday Night Live, as Sean Spicer was one of the more prominent White House employees. He is portrayed by Melissa McCarthy, who also played Diana from Identity Theft, and Shannon from The Heat.

Personality

This portrayal of "Sean Spicer" is a loud, vituperative, and aggressive Press Secretary, who is verbally and emotionally abusive to his assistant, Sarah, and even assaults a reporter for complimenting her.

He appears to be an exaggeratedly brutish character, as he doesn't use logic to make points, but rather screams the same things over and over.

He is consistently in denial about the possibility that he is wrong, or misinformed, repeatedly making up numbers about the attendance count at "Donald Trump"'s inauguration, forcing Kellyanne to defend his image.

Villainous Acts

"Sean Spicer" has been one of the more villainous portrayals, as he is presented as a vituperative liar. He has committed numerous villainous acts including, but not limited to:

  • Lying to the press about what Donald Trump is really up to.
  • Verbally abusing Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
  • Telling Glenn that he stinks.
  • Verbally abusing the press.
  • Assaulting a reporter with a fire extinguisher for complimenting Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
  • Trying to kill a reporter with a support beam for asking a question that he deemed dumb.

Trivia

  • The real-life Sean Spicer was mildly amused by McCarthy's portrayal of him, but remarked that she needs to "dial it back"; alledging that she exaggerated his mannerisms (i.e. the gum-chewing).
  • Melissa McCarthy reported that she really enjoyed her role on the show.
