Seawing is a minor antagonist in Generation One of the Transformers franchise. He was based on a figure from the 1988 toyline.
Marvel Comics[]
Seawing first appeared in the UK-exclusive story "Enemy Action", where it was revealed he and the other Seacons had been summoned to Earth by Shockwave to construct the defences for the Decepticons' new undersea base. When future Decepticon Galvatron approached the base, Shockwave sent Seawing and the other Seacons to attack him but they were easily defeated.
In the annual story "Dreadwing Down", the Seacons were sent to recover a power cell that Dreadwind and Darkwing had been transporting before they crashed in the sea. They ended up battling the Autobot Powermasters, with Seawing attacking Optimus Prime himself but being beaten off. They eventually ended up abandoning the battle when the Autobots took the power cell and they prioritised rescuing Dreadwind and Darkwing's Nebulan partners Hi-Test and Throttle.
Seawing made his Marvel US debut in Issue #47 during the Underbase Saga, when new Decepticon commander Ratbat send him and the Seacons to recover a pair of Autobot cassettes despatched millions of years earlier from the seabed. They managed to retrieve the tapes in a battle with Blaster. In Issue #49, they were sent to confront a group of new arrivals who turned out to be the Decepticon faction led by Scorponok. When the two groups came to blows, Seawing helped guard Ratbat against Bomb-Burst. In Issue #50, the two groups called a truce with each other and the Autobots on learning they were all being manipulated by Starscream who was aiming to gain the power of the Underbase. When a super-charged Starscream launched an attack on Earth, Seawing was part of a group of Transformers led by Ratbat and Blaster who defended New York and was among those killed by Starscream.
In "Flashback", part of Marvel UK's Earthforce storyline, Megatron travelled back in time and possessed Snap Trap in order to lead the Seacons to safety during the Underbase incident but was thwarted by the time-travelling Prowl, resulting in Seawing and the others being killed again.
