Sebastián Hoyos, better known simply as Sebas, is the main antagonist of the Spanish Netflix horror film Killer Book Club. He is Alicia's boyfriend, who wanted to get revenge against Ángela after she drove Alicia to insanity by publishing Alicia's traumatic life as a novel for the world to see.
He is portrayed by Álvaro Mel.
Personality[]
Sebas, at first, seems to be a kind and caring gentleman, who is extremely passionate about reading, and wants to help others enjoy books the way he does. While his passion for literature is genuine, his "kind and caring" persona is a facade he crafted in order to host the Book Club that himself, Ángela, Alicia (under the alias of Virginia), and the rest of their friends are all part of.
He is also extremely manipulative, as he instigated Ángela getting sexually assaulted by her professor by sending him an email using her account, only to support her afterwards and initiate the idea of getting revenge. He is also extremely brutal, as his methods of execution were designed to be exceptionally gory just to hurt Ángela even more.
Biography[]
6 years ago, he dated Alicia, until she suddenly attempted to take her life. Upon finding out that Angela was responsible, both swore to kill her, planning everything, each character, kill and event. He and his girlfriend infiltrated the friend group, showing mild interest in Angela, enough to drive her boyfriend Nando nuts. After a quarrel with Nando at the book session, followed by some small talk about "The girl of Carrión" on their way back, he hacked her mail, sending a romantic text to their teacher Mr Cruzado, which caused Angela to be sexually assaulted the following day. In order to get revenge, Sebas proposed a to prank the teacher, and was the most sympatheric and understanding of Angela when they accidentally killed him. Unbeknownst to all, Sebas had tipped Alicia off the prank, and he physically assaulted Cruzado so Angela would be so startled she would kill him.
After Alicia faked her death, Sebas ensured a "To be continued sign" was left at the crime scene.
Over the following days, Nando's lack of support for Angela drew them apart, so Sebas stepped in, ensuring Nando was blamed or looked suspicious. He mostly played the concerend friend, whislt Alicia, now officially dead, did the actual killing. He was at the library researching the suspects at 20:37,and e showed up with the rest after Angela was attacked, feigning innocence. Sebas would start slowly but surely clueing Angela in on what was happening, on what she did. After dropping Angela, around 02:30 pm, he would target Rai. Despite some resistance, he succeded in killing him, taking him to the pool and burning his remains, feigning innocence over finding the "to be continued sign the following day". Later, he invited Angela over, where she opens up to him, and viceversa. Thus, he succesfully seduced and slept with her, which he did not plan. They were cut short when they received word of Nando having been nearly killed.
The next day, having learnt from Koldo that the killer would be signing books at the park, the group attended the place. After the group broke up, Alicia targetted Sarah, whilst Sebas, seemingly taking responsibility for a phone their destroyed, changed into his costume and slits Koldo's throat, dressing him up and leaving him to run into Angela, before Eva stripped him of his weapon. With Koldo dead and Eva armed, it was fairly easy to blame her, he chased and likely kidnapped her, before either him or Alicia finished her off. They then strapped Sebas to a chair and sent a picture to Angela, "Come alone or he dies". Upon Angela's arrival, both him and Nando tried getting her onto their side, until Sebas got udner Nando's skin by revealing their affair before revealing himself and stabbing him. He promtly reveals he is psycho horror novel writer, but seemingly doesnt care enough to explain his motive, outside mocking Angela, explaining his plan and his relationship to Alicia. This distraction enabled her to stab him with a pen and escape upstairs, where she is cur off by Alicia. Both killers now taunt and reveal they plan of framing Angela for all the murders, having supposedly succumbed to Coulrophobia aftr killing her proffesor. Sebas then dramatically revealed how he intended to write a novel, and then have a film franchise made of it. Unbeknowst to them, Nando had survived, and whislt Angela pitied them against each other, Sebas was swiftly struck by Nando with a typer, sendign him over the railing and onto the same Statue that killed Cruzado, impaling his mouth.
