The Security Operations, also known as SecOps, are a major antagonistic faction James Cameron's Avatar franchise. They are the private military branch of the RDA, and serve as the main oppressors of the Na'vi on the moon of Pandora.

History[]

Formation[]

The SecOps were presumably formed as soon as the RDA began colonising the moon of Pandora, serving as the primary protectors of the Hell's Gate-facility against the moon's dangerous wildlife. Most of the groups members, including commanding officer colonel Miles Quaritch, were former marines serving in the private sector. The group would also end up in conflict with the local Na'vi tribes, and by 2152, the SecOps-troopers ended killing several children of the Omatikaya clan after they had destroyed some mining-equipment.

Battle at the Tree of Souls[]

By 2154, relations with the Omatikaya had worsened, and war between them and the RDA was inevitable. Things turned for the worse, where Jake Sully, a a SecOps-solider controlling an avatar-body, switched to the side of the Na've, and rallied several clans against the RDA. SecOps pilot Trudy Chacón also turned on the company, stealing one of the Aerospatiale SA-2 Samson-crafts.

Quaritch took over Hell's Gate resources, and commanded all aircraft and military assets in a strike against the Tree of Souls, a sacred place of the Omatikaya, hoping to demoralise their enemy. Despite initial success and superior fire power, most of the SecOps were killed by the either Na'vi and an massive wave of Pandora wildlife, including Quaritch and Lyle Wainfleet.

Following the battle, most of the surviving SecOps and RDA-personal were sent to Earth, though some of it's members, such as Elizabeth Hale and Mingxia, remained on Pandora as allies to the Na'vi.

Return to Pandora[]

Around 14 years after being expelled, the RDA returned with 10 ISVs, filled with a new army of SecOps, led by the American General Frances Ardmore. After waking up from cryo-sleep, Ardmore rallied her troops by stating that they are "the top of the spear in a fight for all mankind". The RDA's goal was no longer to just mine the moon for profit, but to make it the permanent new home for humanity, since Earth is heading towards total collapse.

Despite the best efforts of Jake Sully, the Omatikaya, and their human sympathisers to fight off the invasion, even trying to stop them in space, the RDA makes it to the surface and retake the facility of Hell's Gate and force their enemies into hiding, though suffering massive losses.

Following their successful arrival, the RDA began constructing Bridgehead, the new city-sized base on the moon, which would also serve as the main center of operations for the SecOps.
