Second Devourer is a character from the Sonic Universe comic book series, and the main antagonist of "The Silver Age" story arc. It is an interdimensional creature that consumes time across the worlds it travels through. Having destroyed Gold the Tenrec's world, it eventually came into Sonic's world to devour it as well.

Past[]
Second Devourer's origins, beyond implications that it is the Time Eater's past self, are unknown. Years before its appearance, it attacked Gold the Tenrec's world. Gold could do nothing but run from the monster as her world faded into nothingness, until she fell into a freak Genesis Portal that transported her into Sonic's world approximately 200 years after the hedgehog's time, where she quickly ended up in the Onyx City Council's hands.
Sonic Universe[]
Second Devourer had entered the void between Zones. When Silver and Professor Von Schlemmer fell into a Genesis portal, it attempted to grab them, but the two escaped. It eventually broke out of the void by using the Onyx City Council's portal. Right after escaping, it petrified the Council, before going after the residents of Onyx City. While hiding from the Devourer, Silver, Gold and Schlemmer came up with a plan to make Silver grow with the Bigger-Maker Machine and make him powerful enough to take on the monster. After Silver had been turned giant, he confronted the Second Devourer and managed to subdue it, before tossing it into the Genesis Portal and closing it.
Personality[]
Beyond the ferocity with which it pursues its prey, the Second Devourer doesn't show much personality. It is, however, able to feel surprised, as it let out a confused roar when Silver threw rocks at it.
Trivia[]
- Second Devourer's name can be interpreted as meaning either "successor to the First Devourer" or "devourer of seconds".
- It bears striking physical resemblance to the Time Eater, and has the same ability to erase time and petrify people. There are several hints throughout the comic that they are actually the same character, with the Second Devourer being modified into the Time Eater by Eggman.
