Syndrome's Security Guards are supporting antagonists in Pixar's full-length animated feature film The Incredibles. They are Syndrome's henchmen and private military force. They are armed with machine guns and carry special key cards in the Nomansian Island where Syndrome's base is.

Appearance[]

The guards wear gray spandex uniforms and protective helmets secured to the sides of their heads. They also wear rubber boots and latex gloves.

Personalities[]

The guards have similar qualities to Syndrome. They are all cold, have no regards to human life and don't hesitate to kill children. They're also occasionally shown to be incompetent since they don't pay attention to the cameras or guard the doors while the Parrs were escaping.

History[]

The security guards were hired by Syndrome as his henchmen. They greet Mr. Incredible when he was hired to stop the Omnidroid v.8, which is really a trap by Syndrome to lure supers to their doom. They escort Mr. Incredible to his hotel room on the island.

When Mr. Incredible was "killed", he does things to distract the guards so he can sneak into Syndrome's base. He clings onto a tunnel car, then rips it off and throws it at two guards in the entrance, crushing them. He also throws a rock at another guard, making him fall off the balcony to distract the other guards so he can sneak past them. However, Mr. Incredible was then discovered and captured.

Later on, after Syndrome shoots down Elastigirl's plane, the latter warns her children Violet and Dash about the guards' willingness to hurt children and that it's not like the Saturday morning cartoons they watched when they were younger. She sneaks into the base to rescue her husband. She knocks out some of the guards and locks them in a closet while using their security cards to unlock doors. The next morning, the guards are called to go after Violet and Dash when they accidentally triggered the alarm. They manage to surround them, but Violet using her invisibility to hide and Dash escapes with his superspeed. While one guard stays behind to find Violet, the others chase after Dash who manages to evade them causing their deaths. Dash comes back and attacks the guard to protect Violet, who then uses her force field to shield Dash from the gunfire. They reunite with their parents and fight off the guards, but Syndrome captures them with his zero-point energy ray.

Later, the guards are partying in a van when Mr. Incredible catches them and beats them up so the family can use the van to make their escape. It's unknown what happened to the security guards after Syndrome's death, but it is presumed they were arrested for their crimes, as it was mentioned earlier by Rick Dicker that the government authorities had frozen all of Syndrome's assets and set up an arrest warrant for Syndrome.

Trivia[]

  • The Wilhelm scream can be heard when the family take out some of the guards after they reunite.
  • Brad Bird stated that Syndrome's guards were written to try to kill the Parr children because he found the message of bad guys being incompetent and unwilling to hurt children to be a bad message to tell people.
  • The submachine guns wielded by the guards appear to be the M3 "Grease Gun".
