Villain Overview

You were caught by Seek... The obstacles have crawlspaces. Crouch into them! My lights shall guide you.
~ The Guiding Light talking about Seek.
But you can't.. um.. uhm.. uhh...
~ The "You Can Run" badge that players get after escaping Seek.

Seek is the main antagonist of the 2022 Roblox horror game DOORS, serving as the secondary antagonist of "The Hotel", and the main antagonist of "The Mines", and will presumably return in the next floor (implied to be a castle). They are an entity that chases the player.

His vocal effects were provided by LSPLASH, who voiced many of the entities in the game.

Appearance[]

Seek is a mass of black slime with eyes that takes a humanoid shape when chasing the player. His humanoid form has one eye. His blob form consists of a big black blob with lots of eyes dotted around unevenly, while the blob itself is sitting in a sea of its black goop.

Biography[]

The Hotel[]

Seek's eyes are seen throughout the game following the player, this is known as Seek's crescendo.

On the 4th door after Seek's crescendo begins, the eyes will all disappear and the players will first encounter Seek between doors 21-40. When players reach the end of the pre-generated hallway, Seek will appear and teleport everyone to the door of the following room. The players will start to flee from Seek, and in some rooms, there will be obstacles that they must crouch under. Players will receive help from Guiding Light, which will illuminate the proper door until they reach the destination. The last hallway has fallen chandeliers that can inflict 40 health damage on players as well as Seek's giant black hands that can burst through the windows and instantly kill players upon contact. When the player makes it through the 6th and last door, Seek bangs on it a few times before letting the player go.

Seek's crescendo will appear again, with his second chase sequence occurring between at doors 69-75 (69-90 before the Hotel+ Update), and is completely identical to the first except that the second chase lasts 6 Doors (8 before the Hotel+ Update) and more flickering lights. There are no obstacles to crouch under for the second chase.

Players can use the Crucifix on Seek, but it will not be banished and will only be halted before escaping. This is noted by the Crucifix's sigil turning red, then breaking. The same goes for Figure and Grumbles.

The Mines[]

Seek's influence is better seen here in contrast to the Figure, with all the blob piles resembling piles of dead Screeches. Seek's chases (now he drips from a pipe in the ceiling, & the chase theme is remixed) & crescendo (now limited to the door before the chase) are still retained, but upon reaching the Dam (Door 200), Seek's goo floods out of 5 gigantic sewer pipes & morphs into a gigantic blob, essentially becoming the whole sea of goo itself. To defeat Seek in the Dam, players have to spin multiple valves 3 times (2 for the 1st, 4 for the 2nd, & 5 for the 3rd) to drain it away.

In the ending, when the player nearly leaves, the Queen Grumble emerges from underground behind them, however before it can chase and/or kill the player, an arm of black goo slowly emerges behind and swiftly attacks the Queen Grumble, consuming or possible possessing the Queen Grumble with its goop as it agonizingly tries to fight back, to no avail, in the Woods next to a castle, after the Queen Grumble passes out, Seek is seen emerging out of her body in his humanoid form & staring at the player in their eyes as they slowly close the castle doors in front of it, after which the "TO BE CONTINUED" scene pops up, this indicates their fight is not over and that Seek is still ruthlessly on the player's tail.

Other Appearances[]

Tower Heroes[]

Seek appears as an enemy in the 2023 Tower Heroes X Doors crossover event. In the Library map, Seek is a fast moving enemy with about 400 health. If Seek is defeated 450 times, it can unlocked as a follower and a morph. Alternate versions of Seek in fancy attire and in a jeep can also be unlocked.

Seek can also be unlocked as a skin for Branch if the player defeats Void in Adventure mode (to do this, the player's time must be set to midnight before wave 40, which will switch the boss with them). They also have 8 obtainable stickers that could've been earned from the Doors Sticker pack.

Powers And Abilities[]

Seek has shown many abilities, the most notable being superspeed. He has shown that he can keep up with a Minecart on foot. Being a goo liquid, he can also morph into almost anything he wants. Most of the time, we see him manifesting himself in a humanoid form. He can also morph into giant hands and worms, and a few times, we also see him come in the form of floods and eyes on the walls.

He can also assimilate any opponents he comes to contact with, as shown in the ending cutscene of The Mines, and it's also implied Screeches are corrupted Giggles as they have the same black goo on them, and can be shown covered in said goo in the Grumble Nest. He sometimes shows stealthiness too, as he soundlessly sneaked up on the Queen Grumble.

  • Omni Corruption - Stated by Redibles, Seek cannot be Neko due to the accessories being turned into its own sludge
  • Body Manipulation - Seek can manipulate its body as seen in the Hallways in DOORS along with the Seek Eyes.
  • Multipresence - Seek has multiple bodies with Seek eyes on the walls before the chase, Seek Hands during the final hallway and being able to summon Seek Sludges and Seek Worms.
  • Superhuman Speed - Seek is able to catch up to a full speed minecart.
  • Superhuman Durability - Seek runs through fallen chandeliers and bookshelves, it also survived a fall in the Caverns where the player falls into the minecart.
  • Hive Mind - Seek is able to have multiple bodies that share the same mind.

Trivia[]

  • To create the illusion that Seek's eyes are following the player, the eyes are actually indented into the wall (or into the blob itself in the case of the Dam).
  • Seek was the first entity to be made for Doors.
  • Alongside the Figure, Seek is one of the only two entities that alter the player's appearance upon death, with players slain by it being covered by the same slimy substance that composes its body.
  • Seek is one of the three entities being able to escape the Crucifix, the other being Figure and Grumbles. Lore-wise (as of now) this seems to be because they are the strongest and smartest of the entities and mechanics-wise this seems to happen to justify their rematches later on in the game. This appears to happen because Seek overpowers the crucifix, Figure is not a demon (possibly being a homunculus, a humanoid amalgamation of flesh & bone that was supposed to be a human), & Grumbles simply being too big to be crucified (also the case for the Seek Blob).
  • Seek is the first antagonist to appear on the thumbnail of Doors, the second being Dupe, third being The Lookman, and fourth being the Gloombats.
  • Seek will scream when it is close to the player.
  • During the first cutscene, it is possible to stand next to Seek before the chase starts.
  • The image that appears on the badge that players get when using the crucifix against Seek is a reference to this meme
  • Seek is not actually a humanoid figure, but rather a mound of black slime with one of Seek's eyes being planted onto it's face.
  • The developers stated that Seek can create a mouth for himself if he wanted to.
    • Seek is also able to shapeshift into virtually anything, although it will have at least 1 imperfection.
  • In the 2023 April Fools Event, Seek could drive a car and the chase would be longer, but however the Guiding Light won't light up the correct doors.
  • Despite being homicidal, Seek has actually saved the player from one of the Grumbles during the end cutscene of the Mines, possibly due to wanting to kill them himself, revealing his selfishness and pride.
    • This is supported by one of the developers (RED in particular) saying that Seek "loves to toy with his prey", with the chases only being games to him, while his blob form being where he gets serious.
      • He was also stated to have had fun seeing the Grumble he killed struggle futilely to survive, & apparently wanted to torture the player both physically & mentally instead of killing them on the spot.
  • It's heavily implied that Seek was the one responsible for infecting the mines with his goop and for turning the Giggles into Screeches.
  • It is theorized that seek will be the main antagonist of Doors, simply because of its ruthless nature and is also yet to be defeated or injured, unlike both the Grumbles and the Figure.
    • However this is still up to debate, as there are only 2 floors so far.
