| ~ Sektor in the trailer for Khaos Reigns. |
Sektor is a minor antagonist in the 2023 video game Mortal Kombat 1 and one of the main protagonists of its DLC Khaos Reigns. She is a member of the Lin Kuei who, alongside her fellow warrior Cyrax, wears a set of cybernetic battle armor.
She is voiced by Erika Ishii, who also voiced JunJun in the Viz Media dub of Sailor Moon, Kaori "Kitsune" Tanaka in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Child in Young Justice.
History[]
Background[]
Sektor is the daughter of Longwei, the Lin Kuei's Master Armourer, and Madame Bo. As she grew up immersed in the Lin Kuei's traditions, she acted as a apprentice to her father, eventually surpassing his skill with technology, and taking his position after his requirement. While Sektor does not feature within the main story mode of Mortal Kombat 1, she is mentioned, alongside Cyrax, when Smoke questions Scorpion on becoming the Lin Kuei's Grandmaster. Scorpion iterates that, with Sub-Zero's betrayal and corruption of the Lin Kuei, Cyrax and Sektor's loyalty to Sub-Zero is absolute and that they would rather abet his corruption than oppose him. As revealed in Sub-Zero's ending, Sektor was the one who suggested to Sub-Zero that they should turn to science in order to turn the Lin Kuei into a formidable army, having technological armor created for her and several others to wear.
Khaos Reigns[]
Sektor advances the Lin Kuei's Cyber Initiative by training her pupil, Cyrax, in their new cyber suits. However, during the training session, tensions between the independently minded Cyrax and Sektor begin to flare. Impressed by their progress, Bi-Han assigns them a mission to assassinate his brother, whom he accuses of treachery against the Lin Kuei—a claim Cyrax begins to doubt. While Bi-Han and Sektor withhold the truth, they invade the Wu Shi Academy during Kuai Liang's wedding to Harumi. The Earthrealm Champions thwart the Lin Kuei attack, and Cyrax spares Harumi, recognizing her innocence. Kuai Liang reveals the truth to Cyrax, which Bi-Han confirms. Sektor aids Bi-Han in a confrontation with Kuai Liang and Cyrax, but they are ultimately defeated and captured. They are then taken to Outworld for trial due to their involvement in General Shao's rebellion.
In Outworld, Bi-Han and Sektor are summoned before Empress Mileena to face judgement. Liu Kang pleads for their lives, arguing that executing them would perpetuate a cycle of senseless violence. However, before Mileena can pronounce her verdict, a portal opens, disgorging numerous variants of kombatants. A severed Titan Havik head flies through the portal and is retrieved by the Titan Havik himself. The Keeper of Time's chaotic forces then assault the trial, and Titan Havik's variants of Kenshi and Takeda kidnap Geras. Sektor and Umgadi member Khameleon are forced into an alliance, battling the Khaotic versions of Quan Chi, Shang Tsung, Geras and Raiden, the two gaining a begrudging respect for each other. While Sektor manages to target Geras's kidnappers, Bi-Han rushes through the portal to stop them, much to Sektor's dismay.
Desperate to rescue Bi-Han, Liu Kang persuades Mileena to free Sektor, forming an alliance to save Geras. Following Kuai Liang's orders, they infiltrate Titan Havik's timeline, encountering chaotic variants of other kombatants, namely Ermac, Baraka and Reptile. During their journey, they discover a variant of Johnny Cage and Rain (the former's flirting irritating Sektor), and head to the Khaoseum to rescue a variant of Tanya who has knowledge of Titan Havik's timeline. Upon arrival, they are spotted by a the Khaotic Kenshi Takahashi and forced to fight in the Khaoseum. After defeating him, the group enters what they believe is an escape route but is actually a treacherous shaft known as The Maze.
After escaping the traps and defeating several new variants, the variant of Rain sacrifices himself to allow the others to pass. Once they navigate one of the traps, Sektor and Tanya encounter an imprisoned variant of the dragon Orin. Communicating telepathically, Tanya persuades Orin to transport them to Havik's Citadel, where they believe Geras is held captive. The dragon opens a portal, alarming Titan Havik, and the group proceeds with their mission. There, they find Bi-Han, transformed by Titan Havik into the chaotic Wraith Noob Saibot. Horrified by Bi-Han's fate, Sektor refuses to abandon him, despite Kuai Liang's objections to helping his brother. Inside the Citadel, they free Geras, take an unconscious Bi-Han, and steal the Kamidogu—artifacts that Titan Havik has been using to warp reality in his timeline. He plans to harvest the Time Crystals within Geras's body and infuse them with the Kamidogu to unleash chaos across every timeline in the multiverse.
Back at the Fire Temple, Liu Kang restores Bi-Han's mind, purging the chaotic influence of Titan Havik, but cannot return him to his original body. Nevertheless, Sektor and Bi-Han embrace, relieved to be reunited. Titan Havik then invades the Fire Temple, destroying much of it as he retrieves the Kamidogu. Determined not to show weakness to his brother and Liu Kang, Bi-Han ruthlessly eliminates the chaos variants using his new abilities. Disappointed by his actions, Liu Kang and the others head to The Gateway, where Titan Havik plans to corrupt the timelines. After Bi-Han defeats Titan Havik, she witnesses the conflict between him and Liu Kang. Liu Kang wants to imprison Titan Havik in the void, while Bi-Han believes he should die in order to protect the timeline. But Liu Kang refuses to kill him due the destruction of Havik's timeline and others. After a brief argument with Liu Kang, the Fire God is fed up with Bi-Han's selfishness and attacks him by pushing him back. Bi-Han becomes enraged by Liu Kang's actions, and he starts to attack him back, but Sektor pleads for him to stand down. He ignores her pleads and angrily attacks Liu Kang but was stopped by Geras and put into a comatose state. Liu Kang thanks Sektor for her assistance but shrugs it off because she only acted for Bi-Han. Sektor is amended for her crimes and is made the temporary Grandmaster in Bi-Han's absence. Liu Kang reminds her that further Lin Kuei transgressions will result in severe punishment. She walks through the portal ignoring his warning.
In her canonical ending, she returns to the Lin Kuei temple after Titan Havik's defeat and remains livid with Bi-Han's foolishness, Kuai Liang's betrayal, and Cyrax defecting to his Shirai Ryu. Quan Chi later arrived and offered her the opportunity to eliminate the Shirai Ryu. She agrees to help him and is tasked to retrieve Shinnok's amulet from the Temple of the Elements. But she found Bi-Han imprisoned by Liu Kang in the Temple and quickly forgets about her deal with Quan Chi. She frees him and she vows to seek revenge on Liu Kang for his treachery and the fact that he is a god will never stop her.
Additionally, a Khaos version of Sektor invades the timeline, but is defeated by Noob Saibot, then she's not seen again.

Trivia[]
- Unlike her previous iteration, this version of Sektor has received a gender swap, having gone from male to female, alongside Cyrax. She also isn't a cyborg anymore, rather using a special suit.
- In a Noob Saibot mirror match, the other Noob is said to be Sektor testing out hologram technology.
- Sektor's ending is a homage to Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, with Sektor herself taking the role of Bi-Han in being sent to retrieve the Amulet from the Temple of the Elements.
- Sektor acts as a Kameo for Cyrax while fighting against Scorpion and Smoke, and for Empress Tanya for the first half of her chapter. Sektor's Khaotic counterpart acts as a Kameo for Khaos Cyrax against Noob Saibot.
