The Seltorians are an extragalactic race of insectoids from the M81 galaxy in the Star Fleet Battles universe.

History

Seltorians were an insectoid race which were genetically engineered by the Tholians serve as their army of enforcers in M81 galaxy. It was their job to suppress uprisings and piracy in the Tholian empire and were therefore equipped with warp-capable warships. The most effective weapon that they possessed was the Shield Cracker, which was able to bring down the defensive energy shields of an enemy.

Eventually the Seltorians rose up against the Tholians, overthrowing their empire, nearly exterminating them, and pursuing the surviving remnants out the M81 galaxy and beyond. The reason that the Seltorians were successful in their rebellion was due to the modifications that they made to the Shield Cracker. It was now the Web Breaker, which had the ability to not only bring down a Tholian Web but it could also collapse Tholian worlds as they were hollow.

The M81 galaxy is now dominated by the Seltorians. Despite their victory over the Tholians, the Seltorian need for vengeance has not been quenched and therefore they have sent fleets to other galaxies. Their mission is to find any Tholian survivors and exterminate them.

Biology

Seltorians on average are 6 ft tall bipedal insectoids. The queens can lay millions of legs if provided with enough food, which means the Seltorians can rapidly replace any losses suffered in a conflict. Average lifespan of a Seltorian is 5 years and they mature within 6 months. Most of the Seltorians are female workers. Males are few and are called Rams, who die after mating with a queen.

Society

One in every 10,000 female workers transforms into a nearly immortal "expert" who becomes a technician. Males that never mate likewise transforms into a nearly immortal "Sage", whom are the officers of the Seltorian war machine.
