Sentreal is a minor antagonist who appeared in the Doctor Who serial "Mission to the Unknown", which aired in 1965, and in the audio story "The Perfect Prisoners", which was released in 2019. It is a member of the Dalek's Galactic Council, a representative of its home galaxy, in their mission to conquer the Solar System. Sentreal is a plant-based alien whose body somewhat resembles a living Christmas tree, composed of many conical sections stacked one on top of the other, capable of spinning like buzzsaws, with a "head" formed by a cylindrical component that somewhat resembles a chess piece, complete with a crown-like top and bearing two glowing, unblinking eyes. Notably, its name is also the name of its homeworld.
The voice actor for Sentreal in "Mission to the Unknown" was uncredited, but may have been the late Pat Gorman or the late Len Russel. In "The Perfect Prisoners", Sentreal was voiced by Christopher Naylor.
Biography[]
In the 40th century, Sentreal was a representative of its home galaxy, or possibly its ruler, its species being regarded as one of the Great Powers of the Outer Galaxies, and appeared to harbor hostility against the Solar System and humanity, along with a general supremacist attitude. In the year 4000, Sentreal sought to attend the Intergalactic Conference of Andromeda, where other Outer Galaxy representatives were supposedly going to. Following them, Sentreal landed on the jungle planet Kembel, meeting fellow delegate Trantis in a drink reception, where Trantis bragged about the size of his galaxy. However, Sentreal clarified that a galaxy was much bigger than the 20 systems Trantis had control over.
Then, Sentreal and Trantis entered the meeting proper, which was led by the Daleks. Also present in the meeting were Beaus, Gearon, and Warrien, other representatives of the Outer Galaxies. Sentreal took a position at the war map table they had gathered around, but was confused by the lack of lecterns. Regardless, another alien representative, Malpha, entered the chamber, prompting the Dalek in charge of the meeting to commence. However, Malpha objected, drawing an energy pistol and declaring that he had learned of spies from the Solar System who were present among them, surprising Sentreal and the other delegates. The Dalek leader clarified that there were no such spies among them, instead revealing that they had caught human soldiers landing on the planet, and had destroyed their ship. Malpha pointed out that the humans, who were unaccounted for, could still send a message home, but the Dalek proclaimed that the humans would be exterminated by his patrols, making Sentreal and the others express their approval.
With the situation cleared up for the moment, the Daleks revealed that they planned to conquer the Solar System and exterminate humanity, and Sentreal agreed to the plan alongside the other delegates, officiating an alliance between all powers present. The delegates then began to cheer and gloat about their perceived power, Sentreal cheering for galactic domination, as Malpha gave a short speech where he declared that their conquest was assured. With that, the Daleks declared that their first target would be Earth, making all the delegates cheer for victory. Then, Sentreal realized that the Integalactic Conference of Andromeda would have likely been on the planet Andromeda, not Kembel, meaning it was in the wrong meeting, as the meeting was actually the Galactic Council. Sentreal quickly backed out of the alliance and left, not being present for the eventual dissolution of the alliance.
Despite leaving the Galactic Council, Sentreal still desired to conquer Earth, and thus, later in the 41st Century, Sentreal joined a criminal organization known as the Syndicate, made up of the heirs, surviving members, and surviving relatives of the original Galactic Council, who banded together to conquer Earth and kill The Doctor, a Time Lord who thwarted the original Galactic Council. As part of the Syndicate, Sentreal eventually confronted The Doctor and his human companion Anya Kingdom, who was a sleeper Time Agent under the identity of Ann Kelso, on the upper floors of a building. Sentreal moved to attack Anya as fellow Syndicate member Trantis III tried to kill The Doctor, but she used a dream machine on Sentreal, taking control of its mind and making it kill Trantis III instead, before making Sentreal jump out a window and fall to its death.
