Oh, I didn’t do it, Kastor. You did.
~ The Servant of Kronos as he betrays Kastor and reveals his true form.

The Servant of Kronos is the main antagonist in The New Atlantis campaign of Age of Mythology and its remaster, Age of Mythology: Retold. He is an extension of Kronos himself, who killed the Atlantean leader Krios in order to impersonate him and deceive Kastor into releasing the Titans.

He is voiced by Lloyd Sherr.

Biography[]

Ten years after the defeat of Gargarensis at the hands of Arkantos, the evacuated Atlanteans have fled to the Norselands, struggling to rebuild as a result of their previous land having sunk beneath the ocean. Kronos remarks that the Atlanteans are too caught up in trying to rebuild that they have forgotten that he is a threat. He conceives his servant, who kills the theocrat leader Krios and assumes his appearance.

While the Atlanteans continue to struggle in the tundra amongst savages, “Krios” remarks that he knows of a way out. He guides the soldiers to a sky passage which takes them to a Mediterranean island, where they find a temple to Kronos and a temple to Oranos, which have been overgrown. Two Greek scouts notice this and become alarmed, and send soldiers to stop them, but they are overrun and flee the island. While Kastor expresses confusion as to why the Greeks would attack, the servant orders his army to push their attack onto their main base in Sikyos.

When Kastor defeats the Greek General Melagius, he is met with an Egyptian and Norse army. Rather than directly fight head-to-head, Kastor takes some of his forces to the Norselands, and sends his other troops to Egypt. In the Norselands, he destroys multiple temples to Odin along with his main temple, replacing them with temples to Kronos. In Egypt, his army steals multiple relics. Upon returning to Greece, the servant informs Kastor that the Egyptian and Norse armies have fled, and directed them to a sky passage he claimed would lead them behind more Greek bases. To Kastor’s surprise, the passage took them to Mount Olympus. Unable to go back, he takes his troops to storm to the peak of Mount Olympus.

Upon returning, Kastor finds that the city of Sikyos has been completely destroyed by the Titan Prometheus. The servant appears in the wrecked city, informing Kastor that his efforts in worshipping the Titans and destroying temples to the gods who opposed them, is what led to the release of the lesser Titans. The servant reveals his true form, reiterating that Kastor is responsible for the current situation, before flying away and ordering his army to kill him.

While Kastor and his allies fight off the lesser Titans in Egypt, Greece and the Norselands, the servant sets up a trap. Knowing that Kastor would pursue him at the Atlantean colony, the island they seized from the Greeks, he has enormous numbers of automata set up to ambush him. Upon Kastor’s arrival, the automata wreak havoc, attacking Atlantean citizens left right and center. The servant then flees the colony when his plan is foiled, and has a base built in the sunken remains of Atlantis where the gate of Tartarus is found. He temporarily succeeds in releasing Kronos, but the heroes summon the Titan Gaia who sends him back. As the servant tries to escape, Kastor confronts him and briefly wrestles with him, but defeats him easily.

Trivia[]

  • Kastor, along with his army, never seem to make a distinction between the Servant of Kronos and the real Krios, as he continues to refer to him as such, even after revealing his true form.
    • On the other hand, Arkantos correctly refers to him as Kronos’s servant.
