Seth Briars is a major antagonist in the 2010 western-themed action-adventure video game, Red Dead Redemption and a minor character in its non-canon DLC, Undead Nightmare. He is a psychotic Graverobber who is recruited to help John Marston in a massacre of Fort Mercer and who John does favors for in several missions.

Background[]
Born in the early 1870s, Briar used to work with Bill Williamson but was barely involved with him and his gang due to his pursuit of treasure and money. He was also friends with Moses Forth, his partner, until Moses took part of his treasure map, and he swore revenge. it is also implied that his father left him, and he might be the cause of his craziness.
Events of Red Dead Redemption[]

John Marston first meets Seth when he is ordered by Nigel West Dickens to meet Seth and recruit him with the attack on Bill Williamson and Fort Mercer. Seth starts to yell at John for being crazy and tells him about how his partner stole his map. Seth shows up at Coot's Chapel and orders John Marston to steal a horse and lure the law, when being lured away, Moses breaks out the house he was in and John Marston lasso's him to decide his fate, John is also awarded a Pardon Letter to pay off the crime he committed.
For the second time, John goes to Coot's Chapel and finds Seth loading corpses to check for money and to bring to the abandoned town of Tumbleweed to "research." While on the drive, a group of treasure hunters ambush them for Seth's map, but they are stopped by John.
For the final meetup, John returns to Tumbleweed to find Seth talking to a deceased corpse at the cemetery. When they attempt to go to the mansion and receive the treasure, Treasure Hunters launch a Suprise attack to kill John and Seth but defeated, Opening the chest with the treasure in it, Seth gets angry realizing it was a glass eye, but he still honors his deal and accepts to participate in the Fort Mercer attack.
At the assault on Fort Mercer, Seth gains entry for his association with the gang and also allows West Dickens stagecoach. The massacre being finished and the location of Bill not being found, Seth leaves and is never found again.
Epilogue[]
In 1914, a newspaper article reveals that Seth found a huge sack of jewels and gold in Tall Trees and hauls it to Blackwater.
