Sha Danshan, also known as the Infirmary Empress, is a major antagonist in the A Certain Scientific Railgun manga, serving as the main antagonist of the First Year Arc.
She is a Tokiwadai student with the esper ability to use Psychometry, although her level is unknown but being a student it is likely a Level 3 or 4. Sha is the leader of her clique and is said to be the biggest clique ahead of Mikagami Clique and Hasekura Clique. Sha is a real sociopathic schemer willing to endanger all of her classmates to engender her plot to take down Tokiwadai. She will use any methods necessary to achieve her goals even using her own adopted sister Kessai to do the deed.
Appearance[]
Sha has red eyes and long black hair, with a white lace headband tucked over several of her fringes. She wears a red tree peony brooch on the left side of her hair and a pair of glasses with rounded rectangular frames, the left frame resembling a stylized teary-eyed expression. She wears the Tokiwadai Middle School uniform, sporting dark-colored stockings. She holds a panda doll.
Personality[]
Sha presents herself Infront of others as polite, kind, wise, and delicate leader of her clique to the public, being frail, innocent and cute front such as carrying around a panda doll which Hasekura remarked she couldn't talk without, using it for ventriloquism. However this is all just a facade in front of the public, in truth she is quite manipulative, and deceptive, willing to use others for her own goals and doesn't even care what happens to them. She is willing to harm others, kill them with no remorse if there usefulness is over as seen when she disposed of Antikythera, once they were useless to her. Not even the members of her own clique are aware of her malicious manipulations.
Sha is capable of diverting attention from herself thanks to her charisma and even if she does so many evil deeds she is capable of avoid detection by Judgement and Anti-Skill. The only one who knows Sha's true nature is her adopted sister Kessai, and even Kessai is terrified of her. Sha seems to also enjoys abusing her power in order to frame others.
Sha uses a lot of four character idioms in her speech. She speaks Japanese in everyday communication and Cantonese (a form of Chinese) in certain cases for example when revealing her evil self.
Biography[]
Sha Danshan was one of several girls adopted by the Takebayashi Family, who sought to get one of their daughters into Tokiwadai, acquire the school's Majesty title and from that, the alleged position on the Academy City Board of Directors it supposedly promised. However after the scandal involving Takebayashi Yayoi and the main family's bankruptcy, she was taken in by the Sha family, one of their branches.
At the start of Misaka Mikoto and Shokuhou Misaki's first year at Tokiwadai Middle School, Sha was in her second year and leader of one of Tokiwadai's 'big three' cliques. Said to be the closest to Majesty at the time, her clique was the largest.

Psychometry: Sha Danshan is either a Level 3 or 4 Psychometry, based on remains, that can physically print out the result, at the cost of burning down the original material afterwards. She is capable of a more conventional reading of residual thoughts on an object without burning it down. She first demonstrated this ability on a piece of fossil originating from a small dinosaur, she can temporarily reproduce the image and sound of that dinosaur, making her ability very useful in archaeology. These temporary reproductions are capable of inflicting physical harm, as shown with the jaws of a large theropod, with Sha carrying fossils of strong creatures (such as the B-Rex and Omegalodon) for self-defense purposes.
Residual Thoughts: Using the residual thoughts on one of Shokuhou Misaki's remotes, she was even able to make a limited reproduction of the person herself and her ability Mental Out, in order to manipulate the perception and memories of Antikythera. In the same vein, she could also gain access to Teleport, by creating a reproduction of Shirai Kuroko using her hairpin, She also has managed to acquire Misaka Mikoto gekota hairclip and use the Railgun on Kaizumi Tsugutoshi.

High Intelligence: Sha is quite smart, she has managed to outsmart Judgement and Anti-Skill all by herself and cause Tokiwadai middle school to go into a lockdown while nobody even suspected her as people in the public view her as someone to be respected for getting title Majesty. Whom they aren't aware of her true nature.
Medical Knowledge: Sha has visited the infirmary many times which earned her, her nickname Infirmary Empress. She has gained quite some medical expertise in the process, as most of time she spend time in the infirmary.
