~ Shabriri persuading the Tarnished to spare Melina's life by becoming the Lord of Chaos |
Shabriri is an NPC character in the 2022 video game Elden Ring. A greatly reviled person in the Lands Between, he is a devoted worshipper of the Outer God known as the Frenzied Flame, usually preaching for chaos and destruction to take over the world. Shabriri is a supporting character if the protagonist of the game, the Tarnished of No Renown, seeks to be the Lord of the Frenzied Flame.
He is voiced by Shaun Dooley, who provided the vocal effects of the Fire Giant in the same game.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
In the past, Shabriri is believed to have begun the sickness of the Flame of Frenzy, which often causes chaos and madness. This led him to be the most reviled and hated man in history. He was also known for being the first to worship the Flame of Frenzy and its mysterious vassal, the Three Fingers. It's implied that to allow the Flame of Frenzy's curse to take hold in the Lands Between, Shabriri accused the Merchant Clan of a baseless crime, causing them to be sealed within the dephs of Leyndell where, in their despair, they would allow the Flame of Frenzy to fester within them via a maddening disease. This crime of slander resulted in Shabriri's eyes being gouged out as punishment. Taking advantage of this, the Three Fingers proceeded to let the Flame of Frenzy fester within his empty eye sockets.
Shabriri's original body died at an unknown point in time, however, despite the loss his body, Shabriri's spirit continued to live on. As he is now only alive in soul, he will claim the bodies of several people for his own.
Recent History[]
Elden Ring[]
Shabriri is first encountered at Zamor Ruins in the Mountaintops of the Giants, where he is shown to inhabit the body of Bloody Finger Hunter Yura and is also shown to cover his eyes. Knowing that the Tarnished has been sent by their maiden Melina to the Giants' Forge to seek the Flame of Ruin, which she would use to burn the Erdtree but at the cost of her own life, Shabriri persuades the Tarnished to go into the depths of the capital of Leyndell and seek out the Three Fingers. He states the usage of the Flame of Frenzy as an alternative to burn the Erdtree, which will spare Melina from death. Shabriri then bids the Tarnished to become the Lord of Chaos and to burn down the Erdtree and all that divines and distinguishes.
If Shabriri is attacked, this will provoke him into attacking the player, but prior to that he will note that the Tarnished's action was unexpected. During the battle, he will unleash the Flame of Frenzy from his eyes which can deal a great amount of damage. In addition, he will tell the Tarnished that if they do not want to seek to become lord of chaos then they are of no use. If Shabriri is defeated, he will warn the Tarnished that he is chaos incarnate and cannot die before preaching one last time that chaos may take over the world.
Alternatively, if the Tarnished chooses to heed Shabriri's words and seek out the Three Fingers, who would give them the curse of the Flame of Frenzy, Melina will abandon the Tarnished for good, as she sees that they are no longer fit for her to serve.
