Shaco, also known as The Demon Jester, is a villainous playable character in the multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends.
A mysterious toy jester, nobody knows for sure what Shaco's nature is or what his intentions may be. All they know is that this cursed marionette relishes in the pain of others and will stop at nothing to torment anyone it comes across.
The 39th champion added to the game, Shaco was released on October 10, 2009, and is most commonly played as a jungler.
He is voiced by Adam Harrington, who also voices LeChuck in Tales of Monkey Island.
Made originally to be a young prince's toy puppet, Shaco eventually descended into villainy due to him losing his friend and being infected by dark magic. Shaco now finds joy in torturing other people, playing deadly tricks on them and seeing them be miserable. It is said that if laughter is heard in the dead of night, Shaco may come after them.
In game, Shaco is an assassin-type character and mainly attacks by using knives, stabbing at his opponent. Shaco can also teleport with Deceive (becoming invisible afterwards), summon Jack in the Box's to attack others, slow down enemies with Two-Shiv Poison by throwing a poisoned dagger at them, and create phantom versions of himself that can explode and summon more Jack in the Box's.
- Shaco's character design and quotes take clear inspiration from the Joker.
- Shaco's lore is currently outdated and will likely be changed at some point in the future.
- Despite his title "The Demon Jester", it was confirmed by Riot's narrative lead that Shaco is not a demon and is something else entirely.
