Shadroth is the overarching antagonist of the video game Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below. He is the god of the night of the world of Arba. Having battled with the Goddess of Light in the past, Shadroth was defeated and sealed away under his prison under the Isle of Fault, with the mad sorcerer Velasco seeking to reawaken him.

Shadroth, together with the Goddess of Light, formed a pact eons ago to keep balance between light and darkness in Arba. However, as populations of humans and monsters grew, darkness became more powerful as well. Shadroth, taking advantage of this, conquered Arba to lead it into an era for darkness. Luckily, the Children of Light and their deity fought back, and while Shadroth destroyed the goddess' physical form, he was defeated and imprisoned under the Isle of Fault. To keep his power under control, the goddess also created Yggdrasil to convert Shadroth's darkness into light. Since then, Shadroth had been slumbering under the Isle of Fault, corrupting the isle through his presence alone.
Dragon Quest Heroes: The World Tree's Woe and the Blight Below[]
Due to Velasco's attack on Yggdrasil, the tree's weakened state allowed for Shadroth to slowly awaken. Soon after the death of Velasco, Shadroth rose from the surface and rushed towards the capital city of Arba, aiming to destroy Yggdrasil once and for all.
After a few days, the mighty Dark Dragon reached the city, the protagonists already lying in wait for the final battle that will decide the fate of Arba. Despite Kiryl and Nera casting Kabuff and Oomph on Terry, Yangus and Alena increasing their attack power, and Luceus and Aurora's slashes, they failed to even scratch the Lord of the Night due to his dark aura. In response, Shadroth fired a powerful attack at Luceus and Aurora, breaking their shield of light. Shadroth then launched another attack to finish them off, but Healix the Healslime jumped in the way to desparately defend his allies. Having shown true courage, Healix's crown revealed its nature as the Circle of Light, firing a barrier that removed Shadroth's dark aura. Now vulnerable to attack, the heroes eventually triumphed over the Lord of the Night, and Luceus and Aurora slashed Shadroth with the empowerment of the Circle of Light, vanquishing the Dark Dragon once and for all. With Shadroth destroyed, the monsters of Arba came back to their senses as peace returned to Arba.
