Shannon Bell was a former scorned lover of Lex Luthor in the WB Television series Smallville.
She served as the main antagonist in the Season 4 episode "Bound".
She was portrayed by Cobie Smulders.
Biography[]
Early life[]
Shannon Bell was engaged to be married. However, this didn't prevent her from cheating on her fiancé and having a one-night stand with Lex Luthor.
Convincing herself that she had a chance at marrying a billionaire, Shannon dumped her fiancé, only to then be confronted with the fact that her night with Lex had just been a casual fling. Lex never called her again, but gifted her a pair of diamond earrings. Rather than accepting her mistake, Shannon shifted all the blame to Lex and insisted that he had ruined her life and chance at happiness.
Season Four[]
Consumed with vengeance, Shannon sought to ruin Lex's life. First, she arranged for Lex to meet and pick her up again at a fundraiser gala in Metropolis, while posing as a woman named Eve Andrews, who was one of Lex's previous lovers and they spent the night together. Afterwards, she killed the real Eve and left her body in the bed, next to Lex, framing him for murder.
Lex called his lawyer, Corrine Hartford to field the media frenzy while she questioned Lex about the evening. Shannon was Corrine's assistant and accompanied her to the mansion but since Lex was heavily drinking the previous night, he didn't recognize her. Mostly likely because Shannon wore glasses and had her hair put up.
Corrine discovered that Eve was stalking him because he slept with her and became obsessed with him. She revealed that Lex also jilted her, and Lex realizes she was the one who compiled the stalker database. Corrine declared that she couldn't be his lawyer anymore because of their past relationship was a conflict of interest and left.
She murdered Corrine Hartford and left the body for it to be found. Lex later returned to her office having been summoned by Corrine but when he got there, he found her dead. He calls 911 but found the pink mp3 player on the desk, playing the same song from the night he met Eve.
Suddenly Shannon appeared holding a gun on him and asked Lex if he recognizes her, removing her glasses and letting her hair down. Lex was confused and Shannon knocked him out. She took Lex back to his mansion bound and tied where she reveals that she cheated on her fiancé with Lex because she thought he loved her.
Shannon explained that she met up with Eve, murdered her, then drugged Lex and put Eve's body in the bed next to him to make it look like he killed her. Meanwhile, Clark and Chloe Sullivan traced the diamond purchase to Shannon Bell and he hurried away to warn Lex. Shannon tied Lex up and poured a bottle of liquor all over him and the floor, ranting about how Lex slept with her more than once, and still didn't even recognize her at the party nor as Corrine's assistant.
She said she's stopping him from doing it again and dropped a candle on the floor. The alcohol ignites and the flames surround Lex just as Clark super-speeds into the room. He used his jacket to blow out the fire by twirling it and knocked Shannon out before super speeding away unseen. Shannon was later arrested and taken to prison and Lex's name was cleared.
